The first eye exam itself was a terrible experience. I didn't feel like I was being treated by a doctor at all. The communication was rude, and I felt uncomfortable the whole time. Six months later, I came back to ask about getting a second exam for contact lenses, and I was made to feel degraded, like I was bothering them just by asking. The lack of professionalism and basic manners made the whole experience really upsetting. I left feeling bad instead of cared for.

The assistant manager in particular was very nice and gave me a lot of advice about my glasses from picking out the new ones to sending my old ones out for remaking. She even gave me a discount on the frames for pretty much no reason other than that my insurance didn't cover them until next year. Wish I'd caught her name so I could give her more credit for that. Jeff--I believe that's the name of the business owner and I were talking about our cats and then he suddenly paused...before saying something extremely racist. To be clear, I am white. I believe the hesitation was to consider if it was "safe" to make the joke that he did. The shop is not a large space and I did not want to lose my temper and escalate anything, so I pretended to laugh and told him I needed my relatives' approval before buying anything. Well. I have a lot of racist relatives. They would defend this man. I won't. I will not give him money, theirs, mine, or anyone else's. It's sad to hear a local business owner and operator, otherwise welcoming, kind and polite, talk like that because it undoes his kindness--he's only willing to show it to people who look like he does. It's disturbing because this is not the screaming, overt racism of domestic terrorists and our government of 2026. it's insidious. It's literally in our mom and pop next door local businesses. I'm not going to repeat what he said. Doubtless, he has many excuses for it. Made an appointment with Dr.Rebecca McLaughlin and was seen in about a week! The office is bright and sunny and super clean. Some country tunes playing in the waiting room and really friendly staff great you. Dr.McLaughlin was SO wonderful - saw me right on time, explained every step of the exam, and even helped me look up a new contact solution I was considering. So glad that they take my insurance (Harvard Pilgrim) AND they're just a few turns off of 395.

I was fitted for glasses with Michael, who was very knowledgeable. I ultimately made my decision after asking Michele, the receptionist. I like a woman's opinion, so sue me. The only problem was that I knew I only had $150 to spend through my insurance, the glasses I chose were $225, so let's see if I get hit with an overage bill. She happily helps you pick out ones that will always look great. The selection she has at her studio is so fun to look through and try on. She carries all of the major brands. Each time I have an appointment I look forward to going. I won't go anywhere else for my eyewear. Her studio is beautiful and clean. Erica is very professional and she pays attention to detail. I have been going to her since I first found her studio back almost 4 years now. I don't live close at all but that doesn't stop me from going back. I will gladly travel over an hour to Studio 20/20 because it is just an overall great experience. My eyeglasses are really important to me. I would give Studio 20/20 a try. You will be glad you did.
