I have never had a problem like this with Visible Changes before as I've been using them for several years now whenever I need my hair cut and or dyed. However this time was the absolute worst experience I've ever had with them and has played a major decision in my choice to no longer use them as my main salon. My appointment was at 12- Noon, and it started promptly, the only good thing I have to say about this endeavor. I went in for a balayage hair coloring and the colorist (who never introduced herself to me) kept asking me if I was aware of the price and was rather rough applying the bleaching treatment to my hair. She was extremely inattentive, leaving me in my heating chair far longer after the heated portion had finished. I sit down in the chair to get my hair cut when I notice that my hair looks striped like I'm a scene girl from 2009. I ask the stylist Patty to please dry my hair so I can see what the color looks like and it was not how I'd asked for it to be. I was upset beyond belief to the point of tears and Patty got my colorist for me again and she quickly (and roughly again) sent me through another treatment and another round in the heating chair (going on about 3+ hours now since I'd arrived) She washed my hair (roughly) and kept asking the other girls who'd washed my hair before the last time and in front of me said "If you do her wash again I'll give you a Star" which I assume is the rating currency they use for getting promotions/higher status in the job, which made me feel like she couldn't even finish taking the time to make sure my hair was done right herself and was happy to pass me off if it meant that she'd be rid of me. Went back to Patty again and she was gracious enough to dry my hair first so that way I could see the color and thankfully it was much better the second time around. I got a light trim and some bangs added and went to pay. Wherein I told the gal at the front counter that I'd been here since 12-Noon and that in my time of being here at Visible Changes no one had offered me any water, I never learned the name of my Colorist. (I did today when I called to dispute exactly what I was charged for: Her name is Veronica) All I got were vocalized platitudes and no offers of how to fix it or make it better. "We'll have to talk to her about that..."-From the person whom I guess is the manager there. No attempt at all to rectify anything that I went through, even after hearing I'd not been offered water in the now 4 hours I'd been there. My SIL/MIL who had also been with me at the salon at the same time had Master Stylists/Colorists got similar procedures done to their hair and ended up paying over $50 less for their treatments (before tip) than what I ended up paying for mine. Patty's Haircut: $75 (1 inch off the bottom and curtain bangs) Veronica's Balayage: $285 The way I was treated is NOT what I expect when I come to a professional Salon like Visible Changes for the prices I am paying. This was absolutely my worst experience here and it has seriously made me reconsider ever trusting them with my cuts and colors ever again. They quoted me over the phone $60-$90 for a dye and haircut. I get my services and it comes out at $165. The haircut was horrible, I looked like a 1950s wife and it was a $95 charge for the hairdye. Mind you my hair was already shoulder length, so they didn't need to add that much hair dye onto my hair. My boyfriend then disputed the charge with the people and they used the excuse of "we're not allowed to quote a price for hair dye over the phone" which we understan, however it wasn't explicitly told to us that hair dye is an additional charge and a separate service. It was quoted to us that the hair dye AND the dye was going to be $60-$90. Never was it told that it was an additional charge. They then told us it was our responsibility to ask for the services and how much they cost. Why would I have asked at the salon when I was already quoted over the phone that the hair dye AND the haircut was $60-$90. They had multiple opportunities to tell me that the hair dye was an additional charge. They then gave us a $25 refund out of $165 and told us we were expected to get a call the next day and we never got a call. We called them ourselves and told us that the $25 refund was good enough but that we had to wait until the upcoming monday to get a call and it's been a week and we have YET to get a call. I have been an on & off customer at this salon for 20 years. When I find a good stylist (Kimberly) I come here regularly. Unfortunately, there is a lot of turnover and/or I have a negative experience and stop coming only to give them another chance later on. Last time (before this one) I was pleased with my services, so I made a same day appointment with a person I am not familiar with. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO VISIBLE CHANGES AGAIN AFTER MY EXPERIENCE ON FRIDAY. First of all, the girl that shampooed my hair was probably the worst ever. My hair is thick and long, and she apparently did not wet my hair completely before shampoo and then did not rinse completely. I suspected something was amiss when the stylist started drying my hair and my scalp was itchy. The cut was super quick (too quick to be precise) and then the stylist said she didn't have time to style it like I wanted, but then she changed me an extra $15 anyways. Also, her personality left much to be desired. I told her I didn't want to "chit chat" but she proceeded to talk about how much Humble has changed and how the high school is now kids from poor parts of town, etc. I find this talk inappropriate in a public, professional setting. But I mostly kept quiet because I made it clear I like to relax when I get my hair done. So I left dissatisfied (which should have been clear as I was checking out since I asked for someone different next time and said I didn't like the way she styled my hair), but. Now I am home and my scalp is so itchy THAT IT IS BLEEDING. I had to wash my hair again (never two days in a row) to wash out the terrible shampoo job. For reference, I will post two pix. Do not go with Cara Holbrook, bad experience. She said she found one lice egg on my 8 year old daughter and I am 100% that's not what it was as I know what lice eggs look like and I check her often. It was residue from her dry scalp and hairspray. Reading the reviews I see this bad experience has happened before at this location. She said she couldn't cut her hair because of that but on someone else's review it says they cut her hair and tried to sell her products for the lice? So which one is it ? I have been coming here for the longest time, about ten years. I've had mostly great experiences, except this time. I arrived ten minutes early for my appointment, as they always request. I waited in the seating area for 20 minutes, only to be moved to the highlight area and told to wait again. Finally, my hair color stylist came to greet me, 30 minutes late. Her name was Trish, and she told me that she no longer had the time to do my hair so they were going to assign me to someone else. I was frustrated by this point, but that's okay. I had to wait 45 minutes after my appointment time to finally meet who was doing my hair. I wasn't told she was two levels below the level I had requested until it was time to be seated. I will not mention her name because she was sweet, but my hair came out horrible. I was warned my color may come out a little off because I had dyed over my preciously blonde hair. But.. I know the difference between a color that's a little off due to previous dyes versus a BAD dye job. Not a single compliment has been given to my about my hair. Not only is the color horrid, but the balayage I requested looks like an outgrown highlight. I had a .5/10 experience and would give ZERO stars if I could. My advice? Stick to Sergio if you want to get your hair done. I would give him a 5/5 if I could, but I made the mistake of trying to trust one of their other stylists when he was fully booked. Never again. Update - I went in for a corrective color and Sergio did a phenomenal job!!! I have gotten so many compliments and he was so helpful!! I highly recommend Sergio! My granddaughter and I went in for haircuts. I have short hair, looking for a precision cut, scheduled with a master stylist, they scheduled me with Martin. It is a very disappointing haircut, uneven, not anything like the pic I showed, style was embarrassing. Just said thanks and got out of there. Will look for someone actually skilled to fix it. My granddaughters hair was cut by a senior stylist. She did a good job on the cut but told me she had found lice eggs in her hair and had extremely overpriced products at the counter for me to purchase for treatment for lice. Both my daughter and I are nurses. We both searched her scalp and hair, no evidence of lice. I felt like it was a scam to sell products. Salon is convenient and I usually have good service there, usually Minh does an amazing job. But this visit was extremely troublesome. read more

So, I have been living in Houston now for 7 years and sadly was getting terrible haircuts from Super Cuts, but never did anything about it. It was cheap and I would usually grow into it after a few weeks. Well, a friend of mine noticed my aggravation and told me to go to his stylists--Minh. I was apprehensive just because of the cost. I have never paid that much for a haircut in my life, but it is true what they say. You pay for what you get. He cut my hair EXACTLY the way I wanted and I left the salon feeling so good about myself. It was from that moment that I knew I wasn't going anywhere else to get my haircut, and I haven't. Minh is their top chair master stylist and for a reason. He is always booked up and you usually have to call a day or two in advance to get in. He's quick and efficient and a great person to make conversation with. He takes the time to understand what you want and even does the shampooing himself instead of getting someone else. Now, he will try to get you to buy products, but then again so does everyone who works there. I've been getting my Hair cut and colored and bleached for over 10 years at this specific Visable Changes-the cut color specifically-not one complaint. The respect they have showed me for my time over the last 2-3 years-not impressed. Almost to the point of irritating 20-30 minutes late on a very very regular basis. (Not counting the 20-30 minute wait between services.) Every once in a while I understand things happen. This should be the exception not the rule. Went in for an appointment yesterday with Nicole and was NOT disappointed. Not only was I able to make an appointment for the same day but I was greeted by Nicole with a friendly, smiling face. This past Saturday was the second time I had been to this salon, and this experience was nothing like the first. I had called to make an appointment and the receptionist was able to pull up my history by phone number I used to call. This is all great so she quickly asked me "same as last time" and told me to be there at 11:30. I arrive 10 min early and shortly after arriving I am hurried to the color area to get my highlights. I explain to the stylist that I had my highlights done at that salon last (different stylist) and that I liked the way they looked just needed my roots touched up. So she gets the highlights wrapped and puts me under the dryer, I state to her that I usually process in 20 min under the dryer. She goes over and starts a new highlight. 45 min later she takes me to the shampoo bowl for the shampoo girl to wash out. After the shampoo I sit there another 20 min waiting for the stylist. You guessed it I was over processed so she tells me I need a toner. No problem I have had plenty of toners before. She puts toner on and tells the shampoo girl to rinse it out in 10 min. Well the shampoo girl shampoos 3 other customers and leaves toner in for over 15 min. Shampoo girl finally washed the toner out and asked me if I had a hair cut appointment. I responded yes, she leaves the chair then comes back to tell me I don't have a haircut appointment only highlights. All this time the stylist never comes over to see my hair. The shampoo girl asked if I wanted my hair brushed and I was done. Really?? My hair is wet, I have no haircut, I haven't seen my highlights nor has the stylist that did the highlights even came over. At this point I had been there 3 hours and was very upset I asked for the manager at the front desk. I demand a haircut right then and to see my highlights. After now sitting at the haircut cut station I see my hair for the first time. Highlights?? My hair was grey ashy colored, I was mad. The manager gets the colorist and the response to me was it will get better when you wash it a few times. I didn't appreciate being spoken to like I was stupid and didn't know it was over processed then the toner was left on to long. Your customers shouldn't leave upset over the way their hair looks. I left right after the haircut and will never be back. To be honest I don't blame the stylist here, but instead management. They are rushing customers through here like cattle and not spending time or able to pay attention to the customers real needs. If the colorists wasn't distracted by doing 2 other customers I may not had been under the dryer so long, or she could have made sure the shampoo girl rinsed my hair on time. I do want to say the haircut was amazing. The manager tried to offer me the haircut for my aggravation but as I told her I loved the cut and would be more than happy to pay for that, the highlights I would never pay for. BEWARE read more

This is where my mom has been getting her hair colored and cut every 6 weeks for the past 6 years (at least). I have not lived here long and needed a hair cut desperately. So, I went with mom today. It's always a little nerve wrecking to have someone new cut your hair. Even more so when you are going to do something as drastic as chop 10 inches off like I was today. Well, I had a wonderful experience at Visible Changes today. My mom had an appointment to get her hair colored about 30 minutes before my appointment for a cut. No problem though. There is an abundance of black leather couches to sit and read on (in the front and in the back where my mom was getting her hair done). Also, plenty of magazines to choose from. I was called for my appointment on time and my nerves were quickly eased when Rebecca started working on my hair. I could tell she was confident and would do a great job. And she did. I love my new do and will certainly visit Rebecca again for trims (while I'm still in Houston that is). I took one star off b/c they don't give discounts for haircuts if you are donating to Locks of Love. Many places will cut your hair for free if you are donating it. Oh well. I am thankful for a great haircut. At least they will do the 'work' of mailing the donated hair for me. That was a pleasant surprise. So, at least they saved me postage, right? :) read more

I've been going to this Visible Changes location for about 7 years and I've never had a bad experience. Granted the reason for that is because I always go to the same stylist... Diana B. I moved to Clear Lake about a year and a half ago and I still am willing to drive 45 minutes to have her cut my hair. She's a little pricey because she's one of the higher levels but she's definitely worth the money. Part of the reason that I love her though is that I've been going to her for so long that she knows what I like. I usually just bring in a picture of a cut that I think will work on me and she'll tell me if it will work or not. Plus she's really personable. I have been going here for at least seven or eight years. It may be more, but I know it's been at least that long! For highlights and/or color, my mother, sister and I all use Veronica. She knows what will work well with your skin tone and does a great job explaining how things will turn out. She definitely knows what she's doing. My hair is naturally deep brown and she helped me transition to blonde last year when I wanted a big change. I always get compliments on my color, whether it be all over color or highlights. For a cut and style, my mother, sister, brother, dad and I all go to Stephanie. She knows how to figure out what you want, even when you don't know how to explain it yourself. My dad hadn't had a professional haircut in over 25 years, and we finally talked him into visiting Stephanie. She created a new style for him that he loved and was still as low-maintenance as he wanted. You probably can't go wrong with any of the staff at this Visible Changes location, but I strongly suggest visiting Veronica and Stephanie. In addition to their great work, they aren't pushy about convincing you to purchase products like some colorists and stylists can be. I know some might say Visible Changes is too expensive, but I believe you get what you pay for here. Hair is important to me, so I'm willing to splurge on it. On a separate note, Stephanie and Veronica turned me on to Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Wild Ginger line. It's not cheap, but the shampoo and conditioner will last you forever, as will the deep conditioner. You can buy it here and have the deep treatment done. Your hair will be super soft and smooth and very healthy! (I know it sounds like Paul Mitchell paid me to write that, but I swear they didn't!) Hope you'll give Visible Changes, Veronica and Stephanie a try! You won't be disappointed. =) read more

I was working at the mall and decided to get my hair dyed that day, I did some googling and found visible changes. I read some pretty bad reviews but decided to go ahead anyway. I showed up and was seated on the couch and then immediately called to the back. The dying process was great, I can't remember her name but she was very nice. I asked for a brochure of what services they do when she put me under the color hair dryer and didn't receive it until 30 mins later. Not a big deal, my experience got horrible when she transferred me to a girl to wash my hair. The girl seemed like she didn't want to be there and she hated her job. She soaked my shirt and gave me a measly apology and threw a towel at me. She then asked if I wanted to do a conditioning upgrade and when I told her no she got very aggressive with washing. She left hair dye all in my hair. My scalp burned all day before I washed my hair the next day and there was hair dye all over my shower. She didn't even get all the dye out of my hair. I was also aggravated that they charge you $25 to blow dry your hair. Any salon I've ever been to they blow dry your hair as part of the service, there is also a $20 upcharge to use a straightener. I'm very happy with the color but the experience with the shampoo girl just ruined it for me. Jssy blow-dried and straightened my hair and she was amazing! I highly recommend jssy for cutting/ blow drying! As far as the girl who shampooed my hair, I think she had short pink/ blonde hair and glasses. This salon was remodeled in 2007, it looks great, the customer service is wonderful. I have been going here since I was 11 years old and have NEVER received a bad hair cut. (thats saying alot for 14 years of hair cuts) One of the reasons that they are so educated and trained is because in order to be accepted to Visible Changes you must have previous hair cutting experience of at least a year, THEN they must go through a 6 week course with a strict test at the end.
