I regret buying my lenses here, and looking at others' problems posted here, you should look (HA) elsewhere. Visage has a cool selection of frames-- but go somewhere else to have the lenses made-- their lab sucks. I've had great lenses made with ABC Vision and Eyes On Broadway. I want to say ABC in Hillsdale was the best Rx and lens ever. Eyes on B'way did honor a warranty, though, when the coating didn't last. But eh, the coating should last. I went to Visage because they had the frames I wanted. I had a decent eye exam there, picked out my frames, and was told it would be 2 weeks to make the lenses. It was a pretty typical experience. I came in on a Saturday to pickup, and man, something was WRONG with one of my lenses. Really off. I have a very light distance correction, progressive, prism. Nothing terribly complicated. I was told that "no one" was there to examine the lenses on the weekend, so I had to leave them there and I would be getting a call on Monday. No one calls Monday. Tuesday morning, still nothing. I called midday Tuesday, and yep, the Rx is wrong on one of my lenses. They now have to send the frame back to the lab for a new lens to be ground. They will call me in about a week, I'm told, and I should come in during the week if I want someone to verify they're correct. They close at 6. I really hate when businesses screw up, and really do the bare minimum to make it right. How about-- You have someone at Visage verify that the lab made the lenses correctly, especially now that I've already wasted one trip out there for faulty lenses? How about you staff an optician on Saturdays, so clients can have their problems addressed while they're in the office? How about you address problems with a sense of urgency, and not wait for the patient to call a few days later? And when you can't do any of those things, how about you at least offer a discount for the inconvenience? read more

I am so happy--frames, graphite, ultra light, no screws, no solder, minimalistic frames--all about seeing. I do not feel them pressing on my temples or resting on my nose. I just had my eye appointment with Dr. Steve Clouse and it was so great! I have bad eyesight and have since 4th grade so I've seen my fair share of optometrists. Dr. Clouse is very direct, informative and helpful. I'm lucky that I work in construction and get off early so I was able to see him rather quickly. During my appointment, he would tell me the reasoning behind the questions and tests optometrists ask/do. He explained what I was looking at on my retina photos. And all of this without me asking him to. It's so refreshing to have a Dr. like that, it makes the whole process so much easier. Afterward, I was looking around at frames and liked the selections they have. The ladies in the store are very helpful and patient. I haven't had new glasses in years, so I reached out to my eye doctor, who recently moved there. Located in the Pearl District, I knew that while it wouldn't be cheap, I'd be stylish and I could see clearly through some really cool glasses. The girl at the front desk was super helpful and patient, giving me tips and suggestions as to which frame would fit my face the best. It took about to get the order and it came out perfectly! This place is awful. Here my hellish tale. I saw Dr. Clouse, and got a prescription. For 6 months I struggled with the glasses distributed. I finally called, and they admitted that the perscription for the right and left lenses had been swapped, because the receptionist, Brandy, wrote the wrong symbol down on the order to the lens-maker. For six months I have been suffering. When I called to tell them -- after admitting their error -- they made no offer of responsibility. Wouldn't handle the shipping (I live out of state now) nor throw in something for my trouble. Then, they take 3 WEEKs to fix the problem, and won't overnight the glasses to me due to expense. This is ridiculous. I urge you not to go to Visage Eyewear or Eyedentity -- for they don't value their customers -- or the money they bring to the business. read more

Normally I like to support local businesses, but this time I decided against it. Yes, Visage has interesting frames -- but they're certainly not hard to find elsewhere. Let me explain: I've had my eye on a set of Orgreen frames for the past couple of weeks. They were priced at $540 at Visage, which is pretty steep. But the frames *were* pretty sexy. Then, a few days ago I found the same frames on www.contactsandspecs.com for only $499, including shipping. So, being a bargain hunter I am (ironic, I know) I asked a salesrep at Visage if I could get a discount on frames, considering they were $41 cheaper online. I was met with a look of disbelief. After the salesperson had a brief conference with the manager I was notified that Orgreen doesn't just sell their frames to anybody and that there were only two places in Portland that carry that brand. Huh. So, basically, I was accused of lying. Awesome. Hey, guys, ever hear of a thing called Google? Anyway, I can't wait to get my new frames. Too bad they won't be coming from the oh-so-snooty Visage. But, hey, you can always use this store as a nice place to try on the glasses you're going to eventually buy online! read more

Visage eyewear is the place to go for frames no one else will have. It's also the place for frames no one else would dare wear. Eclectic, colorful styles abound in this spacious shop in the Pearl, and it's easy to get distracted by all the fun and downright wacky offerings. It can be hard to find unique frames that are well designed and unique, but Visage has so many options you may spend three hours trying on increasingly wild options. But this isn't just for those with zany tastes, the store is also home to many European brands that are difficult to find elsewhere. So while you may try on a pair of blue frames shaped like houses (true, it's true) you can go home with a nice lavender pair shaped like something you can bear to have on your face every day. And o.k., I got my frames here, and they're green with red arms, but they are entirely mine, and I've never seen another pair like em'. People compliment them almost every time. The staff is chic and very friendly, the optometrist is knowledgeable and involved in the whole process, and they followed through on a warranty for a replacement lens with no hesitation. read more

Since my dad mentioned he wanted a certain type of designer glasses awhile back, I thought, what better time than the holidays to stroll in!?! Since they had a great assortment, I didn't have a clue where to start so I was greeted by Brandy who introduced me to some great options. She was very helpful without the usual pressure of sales. I was extremely impressed by her knowledge and was even more impressed that she was nurturing (as opposed to being snobby) about my complete lack of knowledge on frames. I ended up enjoying my time there exploring the unique frame styles and taking notes on potential sunglasses I may need for myself when the time comes. I've been a customer of Visage for nine years, and couldn't be more happy with the service I get. They carry premium products that are a bit more unique than what you can find at the chain stores, and the service is second to none. It's always hard for me to pick out new frames, as I'm used to seeing my face with a certain style of frame. Maybe there was a time when Visage had some problems with some customers (2008, different ownership/management), I don't know. I went there for the first time 2 weeks ago. I've not had new glasses in a long time and was nervous (I'm a guy and I never know what looks good and this is more stressful than clothes shopping as it's really final). Anyway, I walked in and Cassandra helped me thru the whole process. She listened carefully to what I was saying about what I wanted to express with them and what I needed them for (reading, or computer, or sports, ...). She then gracefully moved me away from "the same old frames" that were the only thing I knew, and laid out half a dozen new styles within a minute, all of which looked really good and fresh on me. Then she helped me narrow it down. It was hard to do, they have SO many great styles. The glasses arrived long before the due date, and the whole process could not have been easier or more pleasant. I went back a few times to see if it could be corrected from tests, but the Dr. wasn't able to find a better prescription. Like Carissa, I have glasses from Visage that get compliments from strangers. It is possible to get subtle frames that will not draw attention from the store - my husband does it again and again. I figure I might as well take chances with my eyewear. I have had some recommendations from the staff that I was skeptical about but I have yet to regret a purchase from Visage - they seem to know what I can wear better than I do. The staff is professional and the frames are very carefully selected. I have yet to see anyone wearing the same frames as I have. My favorite thing about shopping at Visage is that no one is pushing me to make a decision or forcing a sale. I hate feeling constantly pressed and everyone at Visage gives me the time and space to try on glasses that strike my fancy. If you are looking to shop for glasses the way you would a mattress (looking for a lower price and talking them down), then Visage isn't the place for you. This is one place I can go to for an exam that I don't panic. Nice atmosphere, plenty of parking options especially for the Pearl, and laid back but efficient service. I was lucky to get a NEXT-DAY appointment as a new patient at Visage yesterday and, of all the eye doctors I've been to for the last 16 years of my vision-impaired life, I feel confident saying Dr. Clouse was the best eye doctor I've ever seen. He was kind, professional, efficient, and most of all - he was wonderfully informative as he explained the purpose of each test he was giving me during the exam, how the machinery he was using would help, and other important things I should know about my eyes and general eye health. Having seen eye doctors since I was 12, Dr. Clouse was the first one to kindly walk me through each part of the appointment along with him. AND, the whole appointment only lasted 25 min! I bought frames and lenses with a eye check a few months ago and couldn't be happier. I had previously bought from another shop a couple of years before and saved a couple of bucks but was miserable with the service and the daily torture of wearing my glasses. At Visage I got great looking glasses and an eye exam along with expert fitting and customer service. I had to go back and get them re-adjusted after I lost a wrestling match with my 8 year-old. Everybody at Visage is very competent and nice to work with. I am in love. I have never worn glasses before this year and I was really nervous about getting them. I have a really hard time finding sunglasses that suit my face so I assumed glasses shopping would be a nightmare. I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped into Visage. All I can say is that they have a nice, albeit, very expensive supply of frames. My experience with the optician was abominable. In my 17+ years of having reading glasses, I've never had someone prescribe the wrong lenses. She clearly didn't listen to me and was so unprofessional. No, I don't want to hear about your career dilemma ("should I take that full-time job at Kaiser or have more time to ride my bike"). Excuse me? I'm here for a service, not your therapist. From start to finish (i.e., no introduction (rude), equipment not turned on, incomplete information regarding my diagnosis) it was a complete disappointment. I have utilized the services of Visage twice - once for my original set of prescription glasses in June 2018 and once in September 2018 for a duplicate pair. The optometrist is highly competent and professional. The support staff are merely ok. After spending $800 for the first visit and $500 for the second (both after insurance) I asked for a small bottle of lense cleaner. The response I received is that it would cost $5! After being a repeat customer and spending that amount of money I would expect a complimentary bottle on lense cleaner (at the very least). This is clearly a trivial matter but please be warned that Visage will bill you for everything - client service needs some work. A satisfied yet somewhat disappointed customer on how they made me feel. Remember Visage that people may remember what you say but they will always remember how you made them feel. read more

Stay away! I took my glasses in to get new lenses for the frames. I didn't notice when I picked them up (was wearing contacts) but when I got home my husband noticed something weird on the frames. I went to look in the mirror and the frame right above my eye had been scratched! When I took them back they suggested that I scratched them! Really?! They offered to put a magic marker over the scratch and then insulted me again by saying that maybe my frames were bad quality. FRAMES do not get scratched by themselves! I shouldn't have been surprised because when I had gone to take my glasses in the first time. A lady who had bought their very expensive frames was coming in AGAIN because the accent piece on the other side of the frame was now popping off. Their reaction to her asking about quality and if it had happened to other people: "these are very good frames". That was their answer. Not even an, "I'm sorry your having problems with these frames" The most horrid customer service I've ever seen! read more

I've bought three pair of expensive prescription glasses and frames here. I loved my sunglasses, and wore them a lot for four years. The frames broke after two years, and they found another pair for me. I was able to use the same lenses. A few weeks ago the coating on the lenses began to crackle and rub off. Today I went to show the salesperson. The warranty on the lens coating is only for two years, so I'm out of luck. No sympathy from the desk--just an insinuation that I don't' know how to take care of sunglasses. Well, I'm 65 and have never had this problem before. She made no offer to work with me on a price to replace them. Too bad I spent $1000+ dollars on bifocal sunglasses that "can't take that much heat." Bad customer service.
