Eric, the PA, took his time to educate me about the circulatory system, why veins need to be treated, and the repercussions of not treating them long term. The ultrasound tech was a pleasure to talk to, and the ma was very friendly as well. Speaking to them made me realize how much info was missing from the previous practice I went to. This should be the standard for all medical practices. I live in buckeye and made the drive out here, and it was worth it. Excited to continue my treatments here Initial call over the phone went well so far. The instructions that the scheduler gave me for what to do before the initial consultation was more thorough than the other vascular surgeon's place I went to in peoria. This past appointment he storms in the room, looks down at my mom sitting in a wheelchair, and starts angrily yelling at her about questioning his care plan! She of course is looking at him confused because she has dementia!! Did he not look at her chart (I have been taking her here for a year and had 1 procedure already with him). Of course, I interjected because his attitude and demeanor were total uncalled for. He needs to check his attitude and ego at the door and should never speak to an elderly person that way EVER!

Well let's see where that takes us. So this is the second of three anticipated procedures. This day i was impatiently sitting in reception area waiting for appointment to actually be welcomed into the backroom to begin the routine. Since I had gone through the procedure on one leg already I felt a bit more at ease. Did wish I could have been an early morning patient. My man with the Alice in Wonderland cocktails the first time was great. The person handling that job when my right leg was done wasn't quite the same. But overall it wasn't a bad experience. Need to add, the doc has a pleasant bedside manner and I do recall a nice smile as well. Something I said must've made him grin. My legs are showing visible improvement and discomfort from sitting in some seats has noticably diminished.

I agreed. After not hearing from ANYONE for weeks, I called & got a nurse who flat out lied to me. She's since been fired- why hire her in the first place & allow her to speak to clients? After involving my insurance co, I was persuaded to go in for a follow-up with Dr Purcell. I did so. Deborah took my temp, weight, and blood pressure. I then waited for the dr He stayed with me for literally 3 minutes. Enough time to let me know he has never actually looked at my chart "to see that my veins had already been ablated" and that he couldn't help me any further. For that, they charged my ins co $411.38. I'm responsible for $151.47. I offered to keep mum about this (will he contacting Ins as well) if they agreed to applying amounts due to sclerotherapy. They said no. Here I am. They have had me as a patient for a few years, but I got suspicious after so many angioplasties and their request that I get another. So I went with a different surgery center for my ultrasounds, and surprise surprise, I don't need angioplasty in either leg. Luckily, I don't believe any great harm was done to me.

They have a sign posted at the front desk stating "Our Valued Patients and Family Members - At this time when the news is dominated by COVID-19, we want to let you know that we are vigilantly implementing enhanced protocols to ensure your safety". It goes on to say they're monitoring and implementing recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control. From what I saw, nothing could be farther from the truth. I saw no social distancing, no germ abatement techniques being used, and no cleaning supplies available in the waiting area nor at the front desk (I asked for them). Keeping in mind the nature of this practice, their clientele are elderly. There was no temperature monitoring before entry into the crowded waiting room (it is relatively small). The other 3 doctors I've taken my mother to in the past 8 weeks ALL required temperature checks - without them you could not enter their buildings. As it should be! There were 3 staff sitting at the small reception desk, each one being only 2 to 3 feet apart. Throughout the time we were there, no one was even remotely attempting to keep 6 feet apart. None of the many staff I saw wore a mask! The door leading from the waiting room into the examination area required using a door handle. When I asked the reception attendees if they had disinfecting wipes so I could clean the handle, they said they did not. Where are those "vigilant enhanced protocols"? They're not even following the basic recommendations when no one is social distancing, no one is wearing a mask, and there are no readily available cleaning supplies in a small reception area of a business that is processing a high volume of extremely at-risk patients? Unbelievably irresponsible and putting those patients lives at risk if you ask me! We left without services, of course.

After battling various issues for decades, and asking several excellent doctors in CA for help with these issues, they had never considered sending me to a radiologist who specializes in vascular medicine, as Dr. Minkus is exactly that. I am blown away by the knowledge and intelligence that Dr. Minkus brings to his patients, and his extremely efficient and communicates understandabley as he describes my issues. Dr. Minkus is simply an answer to prayer, and I hope that the upcoming solutions will be life changing for me. There are no guaranties of course, but my optimism has been raised to an unpresidented new level because of this brilliant Genius Doctor, who also has an incredible sense of humor on top of his amazing abilities.
