I always rely on Gravity for phone and laptop upgrades and fixes. They know their stuff and don't try to bamboozle you with tech talk. I question the other review because anyone who knows the folks at Gravity knows they don't treat customers that way and they certainly don't break things and hand them back. I always avoid using Gravity because their service reps are often patronizing and rude. I made the mistake of trying to use them today. Never again. I have an iPad that needs a new battery. In order to get service, Gravity makes you fill out a giant, cumbersome form (they model their business after the Department of Motor Vehicles) and then select a time for an appointment. I arrive at my appointment and explain from the outset that I have an iPad that needs a new battery. The person at the desk essentially asks me to repeat most of the same information I typed into their form again, which I do. Fifteen minutes later, he tells me that the part needed for my iPad is something they cannot get. I'm out of luck. I ask him why they don't check whether they can actually do the work before wasting an hour of my time... crickets. read more

I absolutely regret choosing Gravity to repair my Mac. 1) "The customer is always right" -- whatever the opposite of that is, I suspect that is their motto. It was an uphill battle with them the entire time. Don't believe me? Look at all the other reviews here. 2) The charge "book rates" for work like an automotive shop, so if something takes 3 seconds to fix, they will bill you an ENTIRE HOUR ($100) -- EVEN IF you are already paying them labor to fix another issue on the same machine. 3) I paid them ~$900 to replace my logic board. I asked them to also replace the fan given the noise. I had to ask FOUR times. They simply ignored me the first three times. The first time was when I brought the machine in, I even had a paper TAPED TO THE MACHINE saying I need a new fan. Then three more times I asked in the online ticket software. They finally agreed, said the price for the fan is $30 (fine) but it will be $100 in labor -- even though the case was already open and its literally just THREE SCREWS. 4) I asked another Authorized Apple Retailer for a second opinion on Gravity's billing: "This is nonsense. The fan has to come out to replace the logic board, why on earth would we charge extra labour to replace it, that's nuts. You'd have the cost of the part (if you agree to it) extra, that's it. Even if the fan wasn't noticed until after the board was fitted it's only 3 screws to remove it again." 5) They replaced the fan, but didn't use any of the remaining hour to clean the fan ducts or related so now my Mac f****ing WHISTLES at 2300 RPM (which isn't even max). Like they didn't even test the fan at high RPM or they didn't care it sounds bad. Like it plays an actual music note the whistle is that clear. 6) I was clearly unsatisfied and they did not escalate the issue within management or try to resolve it -- instead they removed my access to the ticket and ghosted me. Wow. NOTE: It really pains me to do this. With COVID-19 hurting the economy, this is a time when we should be supporting local businesses. But Gravity really crossed a line and deserves to get called out on it. I would not be surprised if they are closed by 2021. read more

Same experience as Zach Z. I was a victim of the Macbook Pro butterfly keyboard debacle as well. Apple is replacing basically all of the keyboards on their MacBooks for free is you take the time to open a service call through them. They sent me an overnight Fedex box, and I had my MacBook back within 4 business days FOR FREE. Gravity may be Apple authorized but they are not doing warranty work for Apple. Wasted 48 hours on an appointment for must fix ASAP only to be greeted as if I walked in off the street. Got the same 5-7 day diagnosis spiel even though the serial number on the device was listed as a part of the recall. One star you may ask? You're getting referrals from Apple support. This is way wrong. We're better off on our own. read more

They will try to rip you off! Definitely not recommend it! I have dropped off my MacBook Pro 01/21, for my stuck enter key, a single key. They said they need to run diagnosis first, which would take 5-7 days. But as you could see from other reviews, they made promise they could not realize. When I finally got update from them, the replacement fee was super high and unfair (It was more than 600 dollars). So I decided not to repair it there. Then they told me I had to pay for 75 dollars diagnostic fee, for a single key! I have argued with them that I was not told about that much of charge. They replied with that I must have been misheard and showed me the intake form I have signed. I did sign on an iPad, but they did not walk me through the information on it, so I assumed they only needed my signature. And they DID NOT provide me with a copy of it right after and DID NOT disclose it in my online account, which seems very dishonest to me now. I only received my copy today when I asked for it. I am done arguing with them and paid for it. But if anyone still wants to go there, make sure you double check everything they say, review everything they ask you to sign and ask a copy of everything you sign. read more

I bought a MacBook Air and when I unboxed it, the laptop didn't sit on any surface evenly. It rocked back and forth as you type. I called Apple and they had me make an appointment with Gravity. The tech told me that I would just have to keep my laptop at an 90 degree angle, as if it was opened wider, it would rock side to side with using the keyboard. That is absolutely ridiculous! I returned the laptop and bought another MacBook Air that is perfect. No rocking. Authorized Apple repair companies should try a bit harder to find an appropriate solution. The WORST customer service. I scheduled an appointment allotted for 20 minutes to drop off my computer and talk over the repair process. Jonathan Sessions (the owner) was rude, uninformative, and he rushed me out in less than 5 minutes to move on to the next customer. Gravity is not recommended for anyone who actually would like simple questions answered about their devices, the repair process and cost. **Sessions was charged with resisting arrest in 2018. Congrats, on the epic fail Gravity. Not only is #1 not an option as that is not actually something they (Apple) can do, but number 2 is a literal number 2, it's gravity saying we're just gonna sit here do nothing and hope everything just works out. They say they have several escalations out escalations are like emails, easily and frequently ignorable by apple (fact!). Horrible service, here's the update they sent trying to shift the blame to apple. "Hello, We have some unfortunate news regarding your repair. Apple has had a catastrophic failure occur regarding our repair account. It is so bad that we had to start a new account and we have lost access to our old account including all of the repair information tied to it. What this means is we do not have the means to process your repair, and Apple is not being responsive to help us resolve this issue. We have 2 ways of moving forward. 1: You give Apple a call at 1(800)6927753 and request that the repair be cancelled. This way we can immediately make a new repair in the new system and get parts sent our way. The repair number is G*********. They will not allow us to call in and cancel on your behalf. 2: We wait until Apple resolves the issue, then we can order a new replacement part. We have no idea how long this may take or even the process to do this. We apologize for the inconvenience. Gravity is a huge rip off. It's worth your time and money to drive a distance to get your device looked at by Apple. I wish I drove an hour and a half to reach the nearest store and get it fixed. Your final price will be cheaper then going to a "certified" store. I took in a computer that worked almost perfectly. The only problem was that the display was black and I had to plug it into an external monitor. My laptop worked as a desktop for months, and I never had a problem with its functionality. They checked it out and found a small problem. It wasn't the logic board but a problem with a screw. they "fixed" it. But a few hours after I got home I noticed my computer was running so loudly I went to turn it off and after holding it for a few seconds dang near burned my hands. they almost fried my computer. 20 to 30 minutes after I turned it off they reported it was 98 degrees. It actually melted an adhesive that is 99.8% silver. It took two hours it took to look at my computer the first time, and 4+ hours for them to try to figure out what they did to mess it up. Working a minimum-wage I could've made 60 some dollars before taxes. Every single time which was at least 4 to 5 times they took it to the back, it got worse, so they had to keep it overnight. It was so bad the employee was telling me he had never seen anything like it before. So much that he had to take a photo of it. This is a $1500 computer that was working when I came in. The most frustrating part is that they never once took responsibility for anything, but tried to pin it on pre-existing conditions. Yes, It was somewhat messed up before I brought it in, but It worked. The only good thing they did was that they didn't charge me, which isn't a gesture of kindness, but what should have happened because they messed it up. when I "checked out" the employee made a comment that alluded to the fact that they help me for free. Technically yeah I didn't spend a dollar but they messed it up in the first place. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration and take your iPhone to your cell phone provider or send your device into Apple. Don't let them push you around or use technical rhetoric to confuse you. This seems to happen a lot more when the customer is young and/or a woman. For example when they told me my computer reached a temperature that could melt the adhesive, they didn't tell me just how hot it got. Whatever they say, research it so you truly understand what it means. I was very nice, but I wasn't passive and I believe that's the reason they didn't charge me. They will do everything they can to not take personal responsibility for their actions. read more

Took my phone in. Told it was too late in the day. Came back next day. Was told the tech was ill. Came back a third time and was told that I had to remove the plastic case. They could not do it. When I objected that they were supposed to be the techs, the manager came out and was quite rude. He removed the case and told me that if he heard any more from me, he would "show me the door". I left and returned to U.S. Cellular and bought a new i phone. These people are the worst ever. read more

Incompetence. When you hear that a group is an "Apple Certified" location and official services, that is not what one expects. My iPhone X had a screen failure. It was intermittent, flickering, but semi useable. I work in a field where I need to be reachable round the clock. They informed me that I could either surrender my phone while they ordered a new screen, or pay in advance while they overnighted. I opted to pay ahead and hang onto it. The next day, I was told the screen actually came in. I took it in in the afternoon. When I asked about timeframe for repair, I got a condescending lecture about how they would do a pre disassembly diagnostic, install the screen, do a post install diagnostic, calibration and quality check, and it would be before 5 the next day. Fine, ok. Get the word after work the next day that it is finished, I show up and take a look and apparently in that whole process they did not actually make sure the "Apple OEM part" actually fit and was seated properly. I pointed this out and the tech took the phone out of my hand, and he took it to the back then came out and said, "yeah that screen is DOA we'll have to re-order." There was no apology, no comment on how I spotted a DOA level defect that the "Certified Apple Technicians" that I am paying a premium over the guy down the street with aftermarket or knockoff parts. I asked about a refund and was told I would have to speak with Apple. I took my phone as is, malpositioned but working screen and wrote it off as lesson learned. The next day I was called by their "iOS technician" who offered to attempt to repair it in person. After an hour, it was confirmed that it was DOA, and I was offered a refund which I accepted. The old, defective screen was put back on, in worse condition with an entire section now whited out and the FaceID now no longer working. We made an appointment for an iPhone battery replacement through the Apple website. We drove 1 hour 40 minutes to our appointment only to arrive and be told they had no time for us. We would need to make an appointment to come back or we could pay a $50 rush fee. If they don't have any availability, how can they accommodate a rush fee? Went in to get an estimate for a screen repair on my mid 2015 15" Mac book pro as I accidentally punchered the LCD display when I closed a pencil in my laptop in the semester prior. From reviews online and after speaking to Apple support I was recommended to Gravity. I anticipated a speedy fix with next semester starting soon, what I got however was empty promises. I was told they were going to run a diagnostic on my computer to access damage and give me a quote on time and cost. Because the only damage I had was physical and not internal I assumed this would be a very short process. My computer sat in there care for about a week and a half without anyone touching it or updating me. About 4 days in I had called to get an update as I had not heard word. I was told I was 6th in line and it would take a few more days. After another 3 days I called again and was told it should be soon. Finally I decided to just go in and pick up my laptop unfixed. Perhaps my expectations were too high but the lack of communication about the timeline of a repair is frusterating. It seems I wasted my time and was very unsatisfied. read more
