Alex and his partner are the only ones at this company (aside from the lady desk assistant that you call). They try to make this appear like a large operation but it is a poorly run business. They gave me a quote for a window by the door and i accepted. After Alex and his partner showed up 3 hours late they hurried up to replace the window because they were behind. They made dents in all the trim and did a HORRIBLE CAULKING JOB. The caulk was thick and thin and not smoothed out at all. Alex said it will look better after drying. After the horrible caulking dried i called them back and said this wasn't acceptable I called the assistant lady back to get him to refix the caulk. She said he'd come out Monday next week and he never showed. I called her back again and she was acting frazzled that she couldn't get in touch with him (BS because they work hand in hand). He never came to fix the caulk and it looks horrible. The caulk is so messy and gives the front of the house a horrible appearance, along with the banged up and dented siding. Save your money and go with someone more affordable! There's only one dude doing these projects with a horrible hand for patience and quality work. read more

Alex and Ash came out and did an assessment and gave me a price quote right there - they ordered the materials with no money down like the other poster said. The prices they quoted were reasonable and I saved a lot of money over full replacement. 2 weeks later they came out and did the job in one afternoon. At one point during the repair - Alex pointed out that I did not need to replace all 4 balances on one window, just needed to replace 1 and reduced the price on the spot. Alex and Ash are a great crew - very professional, helpful, and honest. They are very responsive over the phone, take the time to explain the repairs, and show you what needs to be done. I had two broken windows, one a pressure treated window cracked in thousands of pieces but still holding in place and another cracked by a falling branch. I talked to a couple of my regular handymen but they were not able to match Alex's price. Yes, I followed the advice of the previous reviewers and emailed them the pictures of the windows. Alex replied in an hour with an estimate which was really very competitive. Alex came in with his associate, Ali, I believe, and took measurements. There was a price adjustment based on his closer inspection but it was minor and he never pressured me. Alex and his associate were extremely polite and knowledgeable about their business. Alex was in touch with me regularly on the phone as well as email. They then came on another pre-arranged day, took less than an hour to replace the windows and did a very great job. read more

The seal on the dual pane glazing on five of my Velux roof windows had failed and there was moisture between the panes. This lowered the insulation value and clouded the view. Velux told me that they no longer manufactured replacement glazing for them so I called three glass companies that had good Yelp ratings. Of the three, two of them responded with a call back and VA Window Repair had a technician call within an hour. We arranged to time to inspect the windows the next day and I had a quote a few hours later. A day after I got a call back from the other company and arranged a similar inspection. I had the second company come out as soon as they were able (two days) and a week after that I got a quote that was 30% higher than VA Window Repair. I gave VA a go ahead with no money down and they had the replacement panes made up and ready to install six days later. The installation went very smoothly and they took upmost care to clean up and make the skylights look new again. Now I have skylights that meet current building code (tempered over laminated low-E glass) and they look great. I would use these guys again without question. They don't take credit cards, but for the price and service, it's worth writing a check. read more

We had two glass doors that had gone completely opaque, and we needed to get them fixed to keep the HOA happy. After a number of quotes to replace each door completely ($$$), Alex provided a much cheaper, yet effective, solution. I have used VA Window Repair in the past and they did a good job but I guess time has changed the company. Called them a week ago to schedule repairs on three windows. They said they could not come out for another week. Although we would have liked repairs sooner we said okay. They said they would be out on Monday (today) between 11 am and 1pm. I was told theynwould call 30 minutes prior to arrival. Well, it is 1:24 and no show and no call. Called to ask what was going on and got a voicemail. Message said they were with another customer. That was 30 minutes ago and no call back. So much for a reliable company. We,will make other arrangements with a company that will show up. read more

Based off all the great Yelp reviews, we tried using this company last week. The one bad Yelp review was spot on! Making the appointment was rather easy. I left a voicemail, but also ended up sending an email with a picture of the damage that needed to be fixed. After a few back and forth emails, we settled on a Saturday estimate time and they gave me an hour block (10-11am). At 11, when they hadn't showed up and hadn't called, I called the main number and told them we were still waiting. The girl who answered sounded surprised and said she would contact the repairman who was supposed to come. She called back quickly and tried to reschedule for that afternoon because he got held up at another job, but we had plans so I told them to cancel and come back on Monday, my day off of work. Well, the exact same thing happened on Monday. No call, no show and me on the phone with the same woman who had to track him down. By the time he did get here, he went to the wrong house. Then told me it was going to be 50% more than what they quoted me on email and also would have to cut into my garage door to fix it. He also had to come back to do it because it was now too late.....literally wasted my entire day off of work! Asked him when he could come back and he said I'd have to call the front desk. Which is ridiculous considering he has access to them at all times. I asked him to call and he said he couldn't get through? They finally called me back after a few hours (when I was told they'd call in 30 min), we couldn't find a time that actually worked for them and me. When I said I was just going to call another company, she said okay. They didn't even try saving this sale! Luckily we found a better company with much better customer service and also charged half of what these guys wanted! Would not recommend to anyone. read more

I knocked a ladder over and shattered my large sliding window on the back of my house.it was a week before Thanksgiving and I was going to be out of town the following week so I was panicked because I had a giant hole in the back of my house. I knew that if I had to replace the whole window it was going to cost around $1200. Alex came out the next day and gave me an estimate and it was a fraction of the cost of what I expected paying. The gentleman that owns the company, Alex, actually came and installed the window on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving after work hours just so that I can leave town and have peace of mind that my home is safe and secure. We are selling our condo and had to have one of our window's repaired because a broken seal was causing it to fog up. I emailed VA Window a copy of our home inspection report and within an hour Alex had emailed me back with a price quote in the email. He came out a few days later, on a Saturday, to take measurements for the new glass and installed it the following Saturday. It was great they came on the weekends and customer service was excellent! Alex actually had to break the glass in our old window, since it was installed improperly originally by the builder. He systematically broke the glass with almost no mess at all. It was impressive. These folks are fantastic. I needed an emergency repair of a broken pane of glass in a door. I followed the advice of other reviewers and sent an email with a photo of the door, requesting service that day. They responded immediately and said they could take care of it, at a very reasonable price. When Alex the tech arrived, he looked at the door and explained that the repair would be a bit more complicated than it looked on the photo. He made me aware that it would take him a little bit longer and there could be some minor damage to the wood frame. There would be a slight increase in the charge, due to the additional time and materials. After talking through the what-ifs with me, he said he would not continue with the repair unless I wanted him to--point is, he told me BEFOREHAND about the issue, rather than after the fact and just adding charges to the originally quoted price. I had him go ahead with the repair, and it looks GREAT! I HIGHLY recommend this company. And Alex. read more

We contacted this company to repair a 30-year old shower stall that started leaking water under the side frame. Alex came out to assess the issue and said that he could do a temporary fix or replace the whole unit with a frameless shower, which of course would have a cleaner updated look. We opted for the "permanent" fix. When the installers "finished" our tenants noticed that water was leaking from under the door. I called the office and they were sent back out to address the issue. Water was still leaking, but the tenants rarely used the basement shower, so it wasn't an issue for them. Our new tenants are using the shower on a regular basis and they are concerned that the frameless walls are not secure and there is too much water leaking under the door. I again contacted Sabrina and Alex informed her to relay to us that their work is only guaranteed for 6 months and my call came 8 months after the work was completed. After a few more calls when I reminded them that the paperwork had no warranty expiration, Alex agreed to meet us at our rental unit. Alex assessed the issue and said that it was because the tile stoop is slanted away from the shower and that is why it is leaking. He said that he could not have known that issue when he gave us our estimate. However, Alex told me when we first met that once the old shower frame was removed, he would use a laser to get the exact measurements for the frameless glass enclosure so that it'd have a perfect fit. At that point as he "has installed 1000's of shower enclosures," he should have known that we could not have a frameless shower (we'd have to go back to a framed shower or replace the worn out silicone under the glass panel) or that we needed to replace the tile base. He did not inform us of the potential problems prior to ordering the glass and completing the project. I agree with other posters that Sabrina and Alex are very nice (therefore one star), however, we'd rather find contractors who are "nice" and want to make sure that the job is completed to their customer's satisfaction and their professional standards. As of this date, we have not received a response to our request for resolution or repeated phone calls. read more

This place is the worst. DO NOT GET ANY WINDOW/SHOWER DOORS WITH THIS COMPANY! This place is the worst. DO NOT GET A FRAMELESS SHOWER DOOR FROM HERE. You are better off going with a real glass company like Dulles Glass or Reston Glass. I have read the other reviews about this place which most are positive. The ones that are negative are REALLY bad, but my review is not about those negative ones. It is more about the actually service provided when installing and after install. SO, we had someone(ALEX) come out to do the frameless shower door. The installed it just okay, because we did have an issue the day after the installed it. The door did not shut and sit flush against the panel. I mean, what kind of company does that if you do this for a freaking living????? It's like they pushed it close when we looked at it right after the installed but then after they left and at night time we noticed it would not sit shut close for long.They came back to fix it after much confusion on why they needed to come back. I emailed them to explain the issue. The whole job has been through email with a girl named Sabrina, she runs the front office I guess. She was nice but not very customer service friendly or she would ask the techs answers and they were the ones who cannot serve customers correctly. It seemed like they did not want to come out to fix it, like it was a hassle. After proof and videos they finally said they would come back out to fix it. Sure enough, (I was not there but my husband was) they came fixed it and said YES it was installed wrong and they had to re adjust the panel and the hardware I guess. So after that was fixed a few days later, so you don't stand there and look up at the shower, we noticed that where they put in the vinyl seals on sides and bottom, the one at the top was like cracked, like it cracked off and they installed it like this. Now, keep in mind that this vinyl piece is like $7 on amazon. I emailed them 1 or 2 days after install and sent photos of this to have them come out and put a new vinyl piece on they told me this "that is not considered hardware so we do not fix it, also, we installed it correctly and the customer must have damaged it". Which is obviously total BS since 1-this shower is over 60'' high and I cannot reach it, 2-it was like 1-2 days after that it was like that. After they told me that, they also said it would cost like $100 to fix. Seriously??? $100??? They try to rip you off. The product costs $7, maybe $10 at most if a company gets it!! It was such BS. Labor for something like that since you literally pop it on takes 5 minutes, would maybe be like $50 especially if "under warranty". About warranty: Apparently as I stated before, it is terrible. Again, you are better off going to a real company that has warranty because all this company provides is hardware warranty but you have to pay for the actual labor which costs out the wazoo!!! Oh and they don't even consider the vinyl seals as hardware even though it is not part of the glass, it is hardware.....clearly. The only other thing I want to say is that again, Alex who is the "lead" installer for the frameless however doors is not nice, unprofessional and acts like he does nothing wrong and knows it all even though he is a shitty installer and knows nothing about the frameless shower door since he installed mine incorrectly. This is my first (and likely will be my only) Yelp review. After a little trouble making an appointment, we were able to schedule a consult/estimate for 9 a.m. on a weekday. When the technician had not arrived at 10 a.m., I called the company and left a message. At 10:30, I received a call back saying that the technician was in traffic and likely would not arrive until at least 11. As my partner had to go back to work, this was just not feasible. But instead of apologizing or suggesting that we reschedule, I was told "I guess it won't work." I found this behavior--not calling to advise us that the technician would be late and not offering to reschedule or apologize for our trouble in taking the morning off work--entirely unprofessional. This was really unfortunate because, based on all the other positive reviews, I was willing to reschedule. Moving on. read more

I spoke with Sabrina (I think that's her name) and she gave me a rough estimate for the service and set up a time for someone to come out to measure. She was very kind and helpful. A great first impression of the company. Alex came out a few days later to measure the window for replacement parts, but found that they didn't need to be replaced, just repaired. We had reached out to several companies for a quote and VA Window repair was by far and away the best priced. Very unreliable. I called to get an estimate and they were late to the original appointment, but they gave me a good price so I figured it was ok After I received the quote I emailed them to go ahead and do the work. I never received a response. I called a couple of weeks later and it never got scheduled because they had problems with staff. We scheduled a new appt and a couple of days before they were supposed to come I received a call that they wanted to change the appointment to the morning - but our appointment was already in the morning. They had put it wrong in the system. The day of installation I was waiting at the house at 9am. I called them and they said they weren't going to get here until between 10-11 and since it was raining they wouldn't be able to caulk. What's the point of coming if they can't do the job completely? We could be set another appointment, but at that point I was super annoyed over all The back and forth. The whole experience was frustrating from the beginning. I don't recommend. read more
