If I could give more stars would! This is a well run, honest company. We just bought a house with 35 year old hardwood floors. Virginia Top Floors immediately responded and was out to evaluate them. They gave us a quote for what were asking for. They additionally gave us two more options to consider. They explained each option in detail and very well, and how each one could be beneficial to our floor. They answered all out questions. They did not pressure us in any way, and left the decision up to us. Once we decided, they provided us with samples to make sure we liked our color choice. You get what you pay for and their prices are fair and the work is excellent. The floor looks brand new! The photos do not do it justice. Awesome experience with VA Top Floors - Ileana and Jose are a dream team to work with! First time homeowners, we moved into a house that was primarily hardwood - didn't know if we should do anything with them before we bought furniture, so called a few companies to look at the floors and advise. Ileana came out within two days and advised that the floors could go with a "buff and recoat" saving half the cost of a full sand and refinish... very honest! The former owners had given me some mixed messages on what they had cleaned the floors with, so I was concerned about the buff and recoat working and expressed this to Ileana. She was always really prompt with emailing and calling me back... and I was annoying. She and Jose personally came out to our house on their day off to do a sample spot to make sure everything would work - excellent customer service! We proceeded with the job and the work was done quickly and they did such a lovely job. Ileana is a "master colorist" and was even able to fill in some stain to worn areas of our floors and they look brand new. My husband and I literally cannot stop gushing about how amazing our floors look. And the best part is not only are our floors gorgeous, but VA Top Floors was such a pleasure to deal with through the entire process - no games or flakiness, unlike pretty much every other vendor out there. I found Virginia Top Floors while researching companies that specializes in staircase remodeling and from the first communication with Ileana and her husband Jose, to the completion of installation with her team (Javier, Edwin and Junior) their service has been nothing short of AMAZING!!! The process to receive a quote was very easy (email pictures of the work area) and Ileana was prompt and efficient in getting back to us with an itemize breakdown, of labor, materials, transportation and installation. This was so easy, as the breakdown give clients an opportunity to see exactly what the cost entails, and other than choices for personal finishes requested, the quote was very reasonable. Once our materials were ordered and received by Ileana and her Team, she provided pictures of the stained threads before installation, which brought piece of mind that the product is exactly as requested. On the day of installation, Ileana's Team arrived promptly. They carried out their job in a very efficient and timely manner, with no interruption to our household (both my husband and I work from home). At the conclusion of their work day, they explained the remaining work, and where they would start the next day. I am significantly behind in providing a review for work done by this vendor. I hope I did not cause others to have a similar experience. I hired Virginia Top Floors to sand and stain @ 500 square ft. of floor. My project was done in the late November/December time frame of 2021. My initial dealings with Ileana were very good. She arrived at the scheduled time and provided a well written and understandable estimate. On the day work was scheduled, her crew arrived on time and seemed professional. The work progress seemed very reasonable; she had a two-person crew come out. The main worker (Craftsman) seemed to know what he was doing and ran the sander for the majority of the job. What I cannot understand and was concerning is why the helper took over using the drum sander in an area where there are multiple corners and short runs. Unfortunately, my concerns became reality. After the workers finished sanding and applied the stain - they looked like they were going to just leave. I asked why the floor looked uneven and was told it had to dry. The next day Ileana asked how it looked and I told her she really needs to come out and check. The hallway portion of the job was horrible. It looked like the sander dug into the wood at uneven angles all over the hall way. Ileana was there for not even 5 minutes before she acknowledged they needed to come back out and fix the floor. The Senior worker came out the following Saturday and worked the majority of the day trying to hand sand the wavering floor. He might as well have sanded the moon's surface. Now the floor looked like it had dunes on it with the tops flattened. Again I asked why it still looked so rough and once again was told it was wet. The next day when I questioned Ileana about this, she kept indicating that you can only sand it one more time and it's as good as it will get. I decided to wait and address this again after the holidays (big mistake). The result of Virginia Top Floors work on my hallway is infuriating, a dismal example of shotty workmanship. I was not surprised that she did not ask for a review, at that time. After the holidays, I received an email from Virginia Top Floors asking for a review. Here is the email string. My floors look new again! I am so grateful that I chose Virginia Top Floors to buff out our hardwood floors. We have a large dog who had done some damage as well as someone who used sticky cleaning solution on our hardwoods. Ileana came out and gave a very thorough inspection of our floors. She was honest and told us that she thought the buffing would get the desired outcome. The buffing is less expensive than the sanding so I was very appreciative of her honesty and the fact that is saved us money. The work they did was absolutely meticulous. After the buffing and before the final coat of seal was put on, each board was examined and touched up. We were informed of all the steps along the way, educated on the best way to maintain and care for the floors from here on out. Our floors look amazing! This Thanksgiving I had something extra special to be thankful for: My beautifully refinished hardwood floors. This is a family run operation. Having them in my home, clearing away my furniture, carefully covering draperies and advising me of what should stay and what should go....was a pleasure. Ileana came by initially to look over the first floor of my home and do an estimate. She then proceeded to explain the process and the LEED products used by her company. The lingering and harsh finishes of old have gone green! The prolonged dry times and evacuation from your home are very limited. What's better, and probably most important to most (myself included) is the relatively dust free sanding stage. It really was pretty amazing. Having Jose and his son and another crew member working systematically through the process made the entire job go like clockwork. Bonus: I did not come home each day to a cluttered "job site." Everything was neat, tidy and cleaned up. The respect for my home was especially appreciated. When my floors were finished, new mouldings stained and in place, furniture rearranged and given felt pads to protect the floors (don't try it yourself)...well...that's why I am taking the time to write this review...it was hard for me to believe these were the same floors. They give you an anticipated timeline and pencil you into a specific timeframe. Most floor refinishers will not move your furniture, paint where needed, and install handrails. This team does it ALL. Ileana and Jose showed me what great craftsman looks like. They did a two-fold project. One week they refinished the hardwood floors in our dining room and living room. Then, a few weeks later they came back and completed the full staircase remodel with upstairs landing in new stained hardwood. As Jose said it, "This place looks like a completely new home". I cannot believe this horrendous company has any positive reviews. My experience with them proved them to be unprofessional, inept and rude. This company destroyed my hardwood floors because they were incapable of following directions and allow the coats of polyurethane to all dry before applying the next coat. Then, right after the last coat, they put my furniture back without protectors and caused permanent stains all over the floors. They were in too big of a rush to leave to care. So, after I had rented a Pod, had all my furniture taken out, had all my furniture put back in, paid them thousands of dollars (they were found to have overcharged me by Angie's List!) and was inconvenienced for a week, I ended up with floors which had a gritty, porous, dull finish and dark stains. Their 100% Satisfaction Guarantee in which they claim they will return and correct any issues a customer is not happy with was a big lie. They refused to return and fix my floors. Instead, they became hostile towards me and made up excuses to blame ME for their ruination of my floors. They are greedy, unprofessional and do not stand by their false guarantees or their shoddy work. We had a top-notch experience with Virginia Top Floors and highly recommend them. It all started with Ileana's great service - very responsive to our calls, walked through the entire process with us when she visited the house, and committed to - and kept - her timeline. Really knew her products as well, and explained why it would be best to go with a certain kind of stain. As for the work itself, it's stunning. We have original 1947 hardwoods and they look absolutely brand new. This company advertises that they do screening (buffing) and re-coating vs refinishing (sanding) hardwood floors. While our family room floor has just a few scratches and dull areas, a board going into the laundry room has a small area of exposed wood. Because of this, Ileana insisted on refinishing the entire floor (sanding, staining, 3 coats of polyurethane). We told her we would accept however the small area of bare wood turned out with no guarantee. She insisted on refinishing (sanding) the floor or she would not take the job. Perhaps because she was in an over $1 million house, she thought she could gouge us with the higher priced job. Her estimate was over $2,200. We scheduled the job with another company for $900. Virginia Top Floors was recommended to us by another company we were using for other projects in our home. We are in the process of moving and want to have our wood floors repaired, due to wear and tear on the high traffic areas. They worked long hours to complete the project, which took 4 days. All wood floors were entirely sanded and refinish, to include removing all of the 1/4 round toe moulding and replacing it all with new that matched the floor.They were extremely knowledgeable and had such an attention to detail. Virginia Top Floors did an awesome job on our hardwood floors. We have not had our floors buffed and recoated since we had our home built in 2009. There was a lot of buildup from products I used on the floor. Jose and his team took the time to buff by machine and hand to remove all the build up. This is the second time I have used Virginia Top Floors. The first time was a couple of years ago to repair and refinish the floors in my mothers home. Her home had multiple water stains from plants. The floors came out beautiful! There was no dust and the work was finished quickly. I also recently had Virginia Top Floors repair and refinish the original 36 year old floors in my large family room and stairway. Ileana set up the appointment and came to do the initial bid. She was very organized and professional. We have a lot of furniture and bookshelves in our family room. They very carefully removed my furniture and bookshelves. Iliana helped me remove and then replace the books and small items from the room. Jose and Nicholas did a great job repairing the floor which had been seriously damaged. They replaced a large section of floor. they did a great job preventing dust from going throughout the house. They were all very professional and respectful. My floors look brand new! Ileana was very professional from the start. She was very responsive to my request for quote and it was very easy to schedule the quote. She was on time, listened to what I wanted and what I didn't know/understand, and explained the many options I had. She also made some recommendations, based on the condition of the floors and the expected traffic on the floors. She provided an excellent and thorough quote. She was very accommodating to changes I had, especially in potentially changing the color of the stain. Work on the floors started ahead of schedule - I gave them a key to the house - they started on time and every time I stopped by to check in, the team had make significant progress. They stopped to show me their work and continued to educate me about care of hardwood floors. Their dust containment was excellent - at the completion of the project there was significantly less dust than I anticipated from the sanding. The workmanship of the new floors is excellent. Am very happy with the look and feel of the refinished floors. The work took an extra half day than initially scheduled, but they also replaced several more boards than originally planned for as well.
