When we arrived, there were about 15 staff members standing around and only a handful of patrons. We took a seat at the bar and were given the regular menu. When I asked about the happy hour menu, the bartender simply said, "We don't do happy hour," and walked away. Confused, my sister pulled up the exact ad that was still running on Instagram. The staff then informed us that the promotion had been offered by a former GM who left last week, and rather than honoring the ad or even apologizing for the confusion, they dismissed our concern entirely. It's disappointing when a business pays for advertising but fails to update or manage their promotions properly. If an offer is no longer valid, it should be removed from social media rather than misleading potential customers. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we chose to take our business elsewhere. I hope Backyard takes this as an opportunity to improve communication and ensure their marketing aligns with what they actually offer.

Go look at the reviews for Custom Construction Solutions. They change their name to get a "fresh start" on reviews, but the business practices remain the same. Beware Jon. Happy to discuss our nightmare if it will prevent others from suffering the same fate.

He told the City of Plano that his last name was a different name than what he told us. Jon came to our home and gave us some ideas, including a backyard fireplace with a water feature. We went out to Colleyville to check out a sample of this project, which we loved, even though we really only had a natural gas firepit in mind. Jon informed us that the City of Plano would not allow us to have a fire pit but that we could have a gas powered fireplace. In all reality, Jon did not pull an appropriate permit for a natural gas powered fireplace. Instead, it was for a wood-burning fireplace. The City of Plano informed me that he never mentioned natural gas or a water feature for the fireplace. This project was started at the end of March, A retaining wall was built and part of our driveway was poured to expand our backyard. Part of our fence was taken down to pour concrete and then build the fireplace, yet nothing else was done after the first week of April, except some rebar and removal of pvc pipe for a waterline. We hired a plumber in May and had a trench dug for the gas line mid-June, for which Jon gave the green light, saying he was ready and things were going to move quickly and that his mason was ready. The plumber went to the City of Plano to pull the plumbing permit and to get the trench inspected, but was refused, since there was an open permit for a wood-burning fireplace and that Jon had never mentioned either gas or water lines associated with this project. Jon left our backyard open and in a mess for almost 4 months, blaming COVID-19 and the City of Plano for their "lack of intellectual abilities." He informed us in mid-July that he was "at his wits end" with the city of Plano. We spoke with the rep from City of Plano and discovered numerous untruths that he told them and to us, so decided to part ways with him after he said he was at his wits end and wanted to talk about our contract. Jon performed less than 25% of the work and kept about $20,000 that we paid on schedule and in good faith that he would complete the project, as he stated, well before June 1. The City of Plano kept insisting that they wanted Jon to submit specific plans to scale for this project while he sent photos of outdoor fireplaces to to them, claiming stupidity on their part. Since then, we have spoken to at least 5 other parties who have had the same unfortunate experiences with MBY/MyBackyard OLC/Custom Construction Solutions, Kenwood Exteriors all the same company, but different names. Fortunately, we found a contractor who cleaned up Jon's mess and acquired a valid permit for a gas powered fire pit, completing the entire project, all within two months. Whatever defense Jon or his rep gives is blatant prevarication.

If you have a decorative pot you'd like to keep your plants in they will repot your plants in a nursery pot that fits right into the decorative pot! In addition, you can also purchase more plants to fill in the plant pots if there's room to avoid root rot :) My plants definitely enjoyed their spa day!
