I took my 2016 Ford Explorer to Precision Automotive Services because my A/C stopped working. They…read morediagnosed a water pump leak affecting the A/C compressor, replaced the blown fuse, got the A/C running, and recharged the system. I told them I was ready to pick up the vehicle and planned to get other quotes for the water pump repair. While I was waiting, they continued testing the A/C. According to a text they sent my wife, they turned it on, blew a fuse, then blew three more fuses, and ultimately said the compressor was completely shorted out. The text stated: "We refilled it and turned it on but it blew the fuse again. He tried blowing off the compressor air but it blew three more fuses so the compressor is totally shorted out from the water pump leaking. I had him remove the freon AGAIN since there's no point in leaving it in there. Your total bill is now $286." I would expect an experienced mechanic to stop after the first fuse blew and determine the cause before continuing to apply power. Instead, I was left with what I was told was a damaged compressor and a $286 bill. I was also told it wasn't their fault and was simply "something that happens." The person that was in charge at the time was very bad about communicating the status of the repair and refuse to take any responsibility for their lack of skills that led to the damage done to my vehicle. My wife handled the pickup politely, but I feel strongly that others should know about my experience. Very disappointed.
