It's never fun getting your car towed. I could mention that other cars parked where I was weren't towed, and the no parking sign was far from where I parked. But it wouldn't matter. I'm writing this review because if it ever happens to you, you need to know their real address and phone number. They're at 1038 Kapahulu. The only phone number that works was 808-593-1993. It took me an hour of intense internet research to find it. That number is listed for Tow Jam, another trade name for VIP Towing. They are open 24 hours. They charged us $140. The woman I interfaced with was straightforward. They emailed me a link, so I paid on my phone through PayPal. Face it, no towing service is ever going to get a good review. For honesty in advertising, they get 0 stars. Once we took the uber there and handled the transaction, it wasn't bad. So I'll be generous and give them 3 stars. But they need to fix their transparency. Providing the wrong phone number just isn't honest business. read more

Worst experience during our honeymoon in Hawaii Everything about this company was terrible. This was the only bad experience we had during our entire honeymoon in Hawaii. On our last day, my husband and I decided to do laundry. There is a sign that says you have to be customers, which we were. We parked, started our laundry, and since we had about 20 minutes until it was done, we walked to grab a quick drink. Not even 10 minutes later, we came back and our rental car was gone. We called the number around 20 times between the two of us before anyone answered. When a lady finally picked up, she was extremely rude. I explained that we were customers, that our clothes were literally in the washer, and we had just stepped away for a drink. Her response was basically: "I don't know what to tell you, come get your car." Then hanged up Our car was about 3 miles away, and we obviously had no way to get there. We called at least 10 more times. Eventually, the same lady said they would bring our car back. No apology. No understanding. Just attitude. This was such a frustrating, stressful, and unnecessary experience. Worst towing company we've ever dealt with. At the office ready to give my information to get my car out, the haole lady in the office made me wait what felt like 30 mins. in total. As soon as I walked up the steps to her window she slides her window open asks me, "How can help you?" Told her, I'm here to get my Toyota Camry. Tells me to hold on... Slides her window shut. Literally stood standing there for quite sometime., 25-30mins. From the time I walked up those steps to stand in front of her "window" until the time she decides to finally take my info, so we can start the process already. Eventually standing and twiddling my thumbs, a line begins to form, 1-2 persons are behind me now as I've been waiting and there's no chairs to sit on and it was hot as hell. Not sure if she was working hard or hardly working, she didn't seem to give a damn. Not to mention their window is heavily tinted black, you can't see a thing and probably sound proof too! When the window opens you can hear some noise coming from the office, once it closed the sounds from within are conveniently faint where you can't make out the sound anymore. So you can't accuse them of not doing their job. They/ she never appeared so busy at any point in time that I was there, especially when there was a second lady was in the office with her, (Samoan lady). Im unsure why I needed to wait that long. Genuinely felt like they wanted to add to my experience, we towed your car, your fault, you pay us and we treat u like shit! True or not, that's exactly how it felt for me! I parked on a public road on Halekauwila in front of stepping stone academy. Additionally, the sign only clearly states holidays and weekends, leaving room for confusion. Update sign: Kuhio Day is a state holiday. The sign only mentions exceptions for holidays and weekends, but it doesn't specify that it only applies to federal holidays. The law clearly states they must release the vehicle if the owner is present. They literally steal people's cars for a living, take them to their sketchy impound, and make you pay to get your car back. When we got to their junkyard , there was already a couple there who had also had their car illegally towed from their apartment complex parking spot. The lady at the window was insufferable, super rude to me and to them. The couple even got the police involved because of the harassment, and the lady refused to give her name. On top of that, there were several cats at the junkyard in really bad shape, skinny, injured, and clearly neglected. That alone shows the kind of people running this place. I do not have an 808 area code number, mine is from the mainland, and they picked up my call in less than one ring. Trying to be objective. 5 stars would be the best outcome possible, and 1 star would be they messed my car up and customer service was unacceptable. My car did not appear to be damaged. They get two stars because at approximately 11am I saw them leaving with my car. I gave them about a half an hour head start and left from Ewa to get to the tow yard in Sand Island. Approximately a 30 minute drive. Add that up and thats 1 hour head start, yet when we got to the tow yard, we still had to wait till about 1 pm to get our car (it hadn't arrived yet). read more

It kinda hurts me to leave a bad review (especially for something as "simple" as towing my car away), but it's more about the lack of communication and responsiveness that caused my frustration and feeling of poor service. My car broke and wasn't worth fixing, so I used the Peddle website to sell/scrap my car. I accepted their offer and immediately received a text and email stating that VIP Towing would handle the arrangements, with another text from (supposedly) VIP, stating that a driver would be contacting me soon for pick up. Two days went by, and I hadn't heard anything, so I called the phone number (on a Friday) and sent an email to follow up. No one answered the phone, and the recording said I couldn't leave a message and would need to call again later. I called again twice on Saturday, and finally, a woman answered, and she said I would be scheduled for a pick up on Monday, and the driver would call me before coming. Monday came and went, with no luck, and I called four times with no answer. On Tuesday morning, it was more of the same. On Wednesday at 7:30 am, I received a call from a private number with a woman saying she was from VIP Towing and said a driver would call me at 7:00 am. tomorrow morning (Thursday) for pick up, so I thanked her and hung up. By 10:30 am. on Thursday, when no one called, I called them again, but no one answered. I called again at 11:30 am. and the woman who answered said, "The driver has been dispatched." At 7:45 pm. I finally got a call from a guy who said he was a tow driver, to say he was currently dropping off a car and could pick up my car after that, but it would be around 8:30 pm. Since it was pouring rain (and he said it was already a long day for him), I told him to schedule for Friday. Obviously, nothing happened all day Friday until 6 pm. when I received a call from a different driver who said he was 5 minutes away (good thing I hadn't gone out to eat as I had planned), and they finally showed up, and within 10 minutes, I was paid and my car was finally towed.
