I was recently in Nixa, Mo and was wanting to get a mani/pedi on friday morning before I left for vacation. So, I go onto groupon in search of salons in Nixa, Mo. I called one place to ask if they had any availability for Friday morning, but due to it being the morning of Prom Night they were booked up. So, I called Carla's Nails (VIP Salon on Mt Vernon & Main St in Nixa). Carla told me she could fit me in at 8a (PERFECT!) but not to buy the groupon and she would give me the same deal. Well, considering I had the cash on me, fine. So, the next morning I arrive at VIP Salon (aka Carla's Nails). I go in, she sets me up. I tell her that b/c I am a Starbucks Barista I am going to pass on the Gel nails and only get the regular mani/pedi. She tells me that she has never heard of this and that I should still get the gel nails b/c they will last longer. I know they will last longer, but I see no since in paying an extra $10 for gel nails when I will have to take it all off the following week. She continues to attempt to talk me into a gel mani/pedi. Consistently I tell her no. She then applies the gel base and top coat, then tells me to put my hands under the lamp, telling this is just to harden the polish and dries quickly. I asked for a design and am told it is $5 more (which I expected). We then move on the the pedicure in which she continues to hound me about a gel pedicure...I continue to tell her no. I wanted a chevron design on my big toe nail and she first asks me what a chevron is (yet, on her Facebook page she has pictures of nails with a chevron...so this now tells me that the pics on her Facebook page are not pictures of HER work)she then says "will you trust me and let me play, it will be super cute!" I think sure...she knows I want a chevron. She draws a straight line down the center of my nail, paints one side red, one side black. On the red side she puts some white dots (that match my nails) and on the black side attempts a small mickey mouse. She tells me that can only do designs on the toes in gel (yet she was able to do basically the same thing on my nails with regular polish). Each suggestion I gave for designs on my nails she would have a "better idea" or in my opinion, a less time consuming & lazier idea. In the end she told me I owed her $50 for what she advertises on groupon for $37. Now, I expected an additional $10 for the "designs" even though I was less than impressed. To irritate me even more my polish (you know the gel that was not gel but she used the gel base and top coat) started to chip 2 days later and on nail's entire polish came off after swimming in one whole piece. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED! This mani/pedi was the most UNrelaxing, stressful incident I have EVER experienced and I will not be going back to her. When going for a mani/pedi one does not want to be hounded or attempted to be upsold. We just want a nice, relaxing time. And if you are unable to do a design that is requested, (as popular as it may be at this time) then just say so. Highly disappointed with my experience. I DO NOT recommend Carla's Nails. read more
