After checking out Yelp reviews and watching the video for VIP Auto Customs, I decided to check out this place despite having been given recommendations for other tinting services. I am extremely happy with my decision to try somewhere new. Jae-D was able to get me a same day appointment and see me immediately. I was immediately greeted by the team at JIP and Jae-D explored the different options for me. He ensured that I would be making an informed decision that took my budget and needs into account. I chose the 3M color stable at 20% all around. They have a small lounge area with cool air, refreshments, television and a view of the crew working on my car. The entire process flew by, I felt like I had just finished watching one news telecast and they were already done with my car. I drove in at 4:00pm and headed out by 5:15pm.. AMAZING! Everybody there was extremely friendly. The owner made sure I felt comfortable by introducing himself to me and asking me if I wanted any refreshments. A well deserved 5 stars. I asked around and this shop was recommended so i read their yelp reviews which were pretty consistently good. I had a pretty big job. I bought an alarm, electric lock actuators and an aftermarket power window kit on line and needed it all installed in my 1985 Toyota RV. Plus i wanted tints. The manager JD kept me informed of the progress and showed me where to find bottled water for me and my dog while we waited. I had read online how difficult the windows are so i was prepared to wait a while and brought a book to read. Rene and Oscar did a really beautiful job installing everything. Not easy on an old truck! The windows glide silently, the tints are perfect, the alarm and locks work perfectly and give me a sense of security. When they were testing everything at the end of the install they found my reverse lights weren't working. I have a rear camera and aftermarket system installed someplace else and they had done it wrong! These guys found the problem and fixed that too. I reached out to JD for a quote via Yelp's "Request a quote" and he informed me to stop by the shop so he can explain what he offers. My last job was a block away from there so it was no big deal. Upon entering his shop on a hot summer day, he talked to me about what I was interested in. I have a pearl white 2018 Tesla Model 3 and I wanted to do a clear bra and window tinting. He offers ONLY 3M products - 3M tinting and 3M Scotchgard Pro clear bra, as for what I was told. He and I talked for about 5 minutes and he quoted me. The tinting was definitely out of my budget since he's very proud that he can do the Tesla's rear window in one piece, which usually other installers refuse to do because it's either hard or not worth doing (since it can/will interfere with the defrosters if removed). I can understand why it would be that expensive. As for the clear bra, I was very tempted to go with him, but I heard multiple times that 3M clear bras fades over time. His price was manageable but I decided to not do my clear bra with him. I messaged him via Yelp how much is it for Tesla Model 3's rear window in one piece in 3M Crystalline 20. At this point, I had decided already to tint the side windows elsewhere at a much reasonable amount. His price for the rear window was good for me since other places who can do it in one piece are more expensive. I visited him the following week, dropped off the deposit (you can pay half or full - I decided to pay full) and schedule first thing on a Saturday morning at 8 AM. He asked what tint I was getting from another place and he was making fun of my decision since he believes that it will ruin in a year. I was whatever about his comment. Tint is tint and what I got (Rayno Phantom S9) had very similar properties. Saturday morning at 8 AM -- I was unable to make it there in time for my appointment. Keep in mind that the weekends are the most busiest. I had to reschedule and wanted to do it later in the afternoon but I needed my car that day. I rescheduled for the following Monday at 4:30 PM. Monday -- I am on my way with mild traffic. I received a call at 4:33 PM from JD asking where I was and I mentioned I am 5 minutes away and he remarked on that he is very busy and he runs on a tight schedule. Mind you, I arrived at 4:38 PM so you can definitely tell this business is very strict on their schedule so there is really no grace period. However, I was told it's a 1-hour installation, no one has an appointment after me, and they close at 6 PM. I would figure being 10 minutes late would be OK but fair enough, I can understand from a business perspective he likes to be on top of his game. In regards to his tinting, 3M crystalline 20 is good. I am not sure I actually would prefer it over the Rayno Phantom S9 since color and heat rejection were two factors on what I was looking for - something as close to charcoal/black hue since I have a pearl white car; I love the contrast between black and white on a car. 3M cystalline 20 is very clean and black on the outside, but in the inside rear view mirror gives off a greenish hue depending on the day. I can say that doing it in one piece is honestly the best since I would not appreciate seeing a strip of two pieces of tint from the rear view mirror. I am glad JD offered this service and at a reasonable price. I wanted to take advantage of his 15% off CR or CS film but that only applies to tinting all windows, so be mindful. There was some spillage coming from the tint when I picked it up and they claimed it was soap and water. I went back since I saw some spill on the leather of my car and I didn't have anything to clean the mess. After driving it for a few days, I can definitely see through 3M Crystalline 20 during the day and night. I was scared of getting the lowest tint but you can still see in both directions easily. I have noticed that when they cleaned the rear view from the inside, you can tell there are swirl marks so they did not clean the rear view as nicely as I had hope so I have to do the dirty work and clean it myself, but aside from that, I would still give 4/5 stars based on experience and installation. I just bought a 2012 black Honda 2-door Civic and was told by the salesman to go to California Tint to get my windows tinted, I called and then was told that I could come in after I hang up and there would not be too long of a wait. There were only 2 cars ahead of me - if I could get there in about 1/2 an hour. I jumped in the car and headed over and was then told that I had 10 cars ahead of me and that they couldn't guarantee that I would be done until at least 3pm (mind you it was only 9:30am). I was disappointed and decided to go to the place that I had gotten my CRX and CRV tinted before. Couldn't remember the name of the place however it was off Altadena just south of the 210 freeway. I was pleased with the way they installed the tinting with my other cars - I decided to hit them up again. I arrived and met Will, who explained very thoroughly the differences with the 3M Scotchtint products and color. I told him that I wanted as dark as I could get without it being illegal. He suggested dark for the back half and medium for the door windows. I was able to use the coupon that was advertised here on the Yelp page and he did tell me that it would take 2 hours to do the tinting. Thank goodness for iPhones and work. There was free wi-fi in the place and plugs to plug in my laptop so that I could do some work. Exactly 2 hours later they were done and I was very pleased with the outcome. My car was taken to another level with the tinted windows! I only had 1 hiccup in the whole event and that was after the tinting was done, my battery needed to be recharged; not sure what happened there. They charged the battery however the settings for the brakes and power steering were not reset. The screen asked to have these settings checked and the owner and the guy that did the tinting wasn't quite sure why this was happening. The owner Roger (I think that was his name), drove the car around the block and when he returned he stated that the settings were fixed and that I shouldn't have a problem. Cool! He did state that if I had any issues that I could come back to them and see if they could fix it...I didn't need to...everything is in perfect order. It started with a phone call. I was calling around to get some quotes to get my windows tinted. I am a sales consultant and do phone sales. I was really impressed with Robert. He was nice and very informative. I told him he was the first shop that popped up on Yelp so I wanted to call around to check other guys pricing. He was very understanding and didn't push me. I called around and got cheaper quotes from other places. I like to ask questions. The other guys were rushed and gave me very little info, just prices. They were rude and quick to try to get me into their place. Even tho I was quoted cheaper at 4 other places, I couldn't forget how nice Robert was. I called back to schedule an appointment. I got JD. He also was very nice and informative and addressed my questions . He gave me a good deal. He went the extra mile and arranged for me to drop off my car and he would take me to work (right down the street). They also picked me up in my car and I gave them a ride back to the shop. They do more than tints and I will definitely be back for their quality work, quality products and top notch customer service. You get what you pay for. Tints are definitely not something to go cheap on. Plus their warranty is great! If I had 1 bad thing to say would be, I had a car wash right before taking it in. I found a few drips and drops of maybe liquid adhesive on the body and on the inside of my car door panels. Nothing horrible, they cleaned right up. Thank You for the VIP Service! I got the FX 3M film for my wife's 2010 Ford Fusion for all the back windows in a classy "limo" tint for her birthday and we love it! Customer service was outstanding, the shop was friendly and inviting, complete with comfortable leather couch to wait on. We even left to take a coffee break while it was getting done (was told it would take approx. 1.5 hours) and by the time we came back about an hour later the car was ready!!! I've been a long time customer of another shop in temple city, they've always treated me good but their pricing has been a little high lately. Someone recommended VIP and I came by a little hesitant, JD helped me out and he was not only knowledgeable, helpful but also patient while I made my decision. Back in early March before the hot weather moved in (and the stay at home order) I decided to re-tint my car. I bought my car used about 8 years ago - and it came with window tint that was showing its age. I had no experience or knowledge of how car tinting service's and pricing - so I did some online research and got quotes from a few different shops via Yelp app. Robert Jr. at VIP Auto responded to my questions quickly, provided lots of great info, answered my many questions, and scheduled me for an initial consultation within a few days. When I went to the shop, the owner Robert Sr. explained the solutions and pricing - again answering my many many questions (I asked a lot). I decided to go ahead and do the tinting with VIP the next day - they got me on the schedule as the first appointment of the day on a Saturday. It took just a few hours - and my car was ready for pick-up with its new tinting by mid-day. As a first-time tinting customer, I'm very happy with the service and results I got. Especially now we're into summer, I definitely notice it feels cooler in my car interior. My steering wheel used to get really hot and my arms would feel like they were burning up in the sun. Now the new tinting cuts down on heat/UV and gives my car a more updated look. I recommend VIP Auto - what I especially appreciated was the attentiveness to my many questions and willingness to explain things to me thoroughly with no sales pressure. I got Crystalline 3M clear, and after a day sitting in a hot parking lot, my car really is much cooler now than before. (I mean the temperature.) I won't take a star off for the bathroom bc it's an auto shop, so I wasn't expecting a hotel style experience there, but it needs a dusting. I researched pricing for other businesses in the area and they were competitive, but perhaps a tad more expensive. I was ok with this because I knew I was getting the best quality tint product and service. They also did a great job of educating me on the different types of tinting, as well as the levels of darkness (i.e. limo, dark, medium, etc.) and how they correspond to our California state laws.
