The store had a small selection of them on the left hand side by a wall...the rest of the store had souvenirs, games, T-shirts, posters, collectibles, etc. The store located in the middle of the artsy area of Harrison makes it easy for people to drop in and check it out. I've been coming to this place over the years. Every time I go in I leave with a handful of items. This store has such a wide range of options to choose from - vinyls, T-shirts, memorabilia, posters, etc. Some items can be pricey here (due to the rarity of it/celebrity signature) but there are affordable things here as well. I mainly come here to get vinyls since there's always new ones to check out. They also have vinyl bins with deals (for example 9 for $10) which is a really great way to discover new music. Every time I have come here the person behind the counter (I think is the owner?) has always been very kind and if there's any worries about them being closed I always call ahead and there's never been an issue. read more

I seen a few bad reviews about this place and prob should've read more lol but I still decided to go, just so I could form my own opinion. After taking a few pictures of records to send to my vinyl buddies; the guy told me "hey we don't allow pictures and I've already let you take enough". No sign stating this so idk if this was just a random rule he decided to enforce or if it was actually legit. I go to record shops all over the country and this is the first time I've ever been told not to take pictures lol. first time for everything I guess. if he would've communicated in a way that wasn't so rude, I would've understood. didn't try to help and see what I was looking for, just an old fart. enjoy the shop tho! :) read more

Warning! CLOSED!!! F@*k this place! Seriously! Today was the third time we tried to visit this store. Arrived a little after 1pm. Sign on the door says, "Sorry...Closed until October 3rd." WTF??? Nothing on their website, no heads up on Facebook or Instagram, nothing....just CLOSED. Don't was you time, gas, or money here. Totally flakey. Inventory of used records is mostly underwhelming and overpriced. Most bins are stuffed so full that you have to pull out several records, just so you can flip through. He has you covered though, if you're looking for those Little River Band or Pablo Cruise albums. read more

I purchased a record online from this shop that was grossly overgraded for the high price they wanted. I'm pretty sure they don't know the widely used Goldmine grading system, owner was completely hostile about a return and stood by his grade of 'Near Mint' for a dirty and scratched record. This place is mostly about memorabilia and novelty - that's probably why the prices are so over-the-top high, to the extent that they deterred me from buying anything (and I tend to drop a lot of money on an average record store visit). The selection is minimal and doesn't encompass much from a host of genres. The service is not friendly and it feels like a political rally raher than a music store as based on the it being fortified with promotional material for a presidential candidate with whom many may not feel comfortable. I appreciate the shopkeeper's passion for a political perspective, but if business is of the essence, this can be quite off-putting. read more

There are 3 types of record collector: 1) the millennial/dj who just discovered vinyl and thinks it's a hot new thing, 2) the nostalgia collector who mainly collects records from their youth as a way of remembering the past and 3) the hardcore collector who will dig thru boxes and boxes in junk shops to find that rare pressing of an artist that no one remembers. Vinyl Asylum falls firmly into the second category. Most of his offerings lean to 60-80s nostalgia. If you are seeking ABBA's 1976 "The Arrival" you'll find it, however, if you are seeking something like a Marilyn Maye's " The Second of Maye" it may be best to look elsewhere. The store is filled with lots of memorabilia mainly from the 70s and 80s. Take a gander at the $1 bins you may find a treasure or two, but keep in mind credit cards require $10 minimum...bummer. read more

While this store has a decent selection of memorabilia[i.e toys, framed autographs, programs, etc] and a somewhat decent sized section of LP's, the prices are extremely high, the service is not friendly[i.e. no greeting, but instead we received strange looks/stares from the gentleman behind the counter for the majority of the time we were there]. The stock is limited in terms of genre/variety[i.e. no 7"s/45's to speak of other than a few cheapo 80's Pop titles, not much if any Punk, Garage, or Jazz on any format, no RSD merchandise....) Furthermore, while transparency is quite refreshing in terms of knowing where one's dollar is going, it is quite difficult to support an establishment which is an adamant Trump supporter[i.e. Trump 2020 pins for sale as well as various other Trump promotional merchandise throughout the store]. I read someone else's review on Google which cited the same complaint and the response from the shop/owner wasn't anything diplomatic, but rather an ignorant "He's our president, if you don't like it get out of the country." Someone needs to inform this "patriot" that tyranny, oppression, and fascism are not characteristics of a democracy or a "Great America." Also, it was sad, yet admittedly somewhat humorous, to witness the shopkeeper pander to a Hispanic family in the store by fumbling to change the music to the first thing he could find in Spanish as soon as he heard them speaking in Spanish; moreover is the irony of a Trump supporter who is so desperate to receive patronage/support from an immigrant family[who still didn't buy anything]. I purchased a record online from them that was listed as VG+. It arrived with excessive visible scratches & scuffs. The record will play but with overbearing static, pops, & even skipped. If you buy from them, I would recommend you go to the store to shop so you can actually determine the record's true condition. Stay away from purchasing from them online. What a refreshing little surprise after my brunch yesterday! This record store is bad ass I have no idea why anyone would have a lot of negative comments to say??! They had a ton of great vinyl records especially from the big name rock legends from the 60's throughout the 80's. I was able to find Bowie's changes album to add to my growing collection. I was so stoked. The gentleman at the register was super sweet and informative. I loved all the Beatles memorabilia and thought the store was really clean and immaculately organized. It was fun. I have been to this store at both the old Cooper City and now the Hollywood location. Record buyers should steer clear. Nearly everything is grossly overpriced (4-10x over market prices) and often in poor condition. Example: I was considering buying a Bob Dylan album for $22. Upon inspecting the disc I saw it was in horrendous shape, dirty and scratched beyond playability. I wouldn't have even paid a dollar for it. There are many great record shops in Broward County that clean their stock and price more than fairly: The Record Rack, Radioactive Records, We Got The Beats & CD Trader. Give them your business and skip the Vinyl Asylum. read more

First time visiting this place I wasn't even greeted when i entered. Looking around I saw some good records felt some of the prices were over priced for the records. The guy inside was just staring at me and my girlfriend the whole time which made us very comfortable. He literally stopped everything he was doing just to watch us like we are thieves. To begin with, the place is over priced!! There are a few things priced reasonably but over all everything was a MINIMUM of $2-$5 over cost on the regular LP's. Higher demand albums were OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. (Purple Rain for $40, really?) I did not check the quality of the higher priced albums but the few $5-$9 albums I picked out were in G+ to VG- condition and should have never been priced over $2-$3 MAX!! They also tape the tops of all the plastic covers so you must open them at the counter (which I think is kinda lame, personally). To top my dissatisfaction of the store I give you 2 more reasons. First, the counter help was not willing to even consider a deal on the records I picked (which was super fair as I know price well having collected for 30+ years). Then, and this downright OFFENDED me, after having said no thanks I changed my mind and decided to go back and check the quality of two of LP's I had put back (and I mean less than 5 minutes later) and the owner had REPRICED THE RECORDS BY $2-$3 more on ALL 6 of the albums I had originally picked. WHAT?!! He went on to say they don't increase the price often enough so he "had too". Now, we are talking about poor quality, easy to find albums (i.e. James Gang) that were already over priced for their condition. He had the nerve to tell me "these are hard to find", WHAT A JOKE!! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, what a hipster, wanna be joke fest!! read more

This store is amazing. Located right in the heart of the Downtown Hollywood strip. They hold a fantastic collection with a wide range of records including various rare and vintage pressings. I picked up Creedence Clearwater's "Bayou Country", The Rolling Stones "It's only Rock and Roll", and a rare Beatles bootleg from '79 all for under $45 on my first visit there. Returned the next day and picked up a vintage copy of The Band "The Band", and The Beatles White Album. read more

I am a huge fan of this place! I stumbled upon it walking in downtown Hollywood. They have a great selection of vinyls but the reason why I think this place is so great is because the items on the shelves are a blast from the past. And they have some pretty unique items. Everything is affordable and they have Barbies from all decades which I'm a fan of and tons of starwars toys. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable and don't pressure you, which I like. I was really skeptical before I entered, and it was a bit hard to find. But once I finally found it, it was so worth the hunt. They have an amazing variety of records and everything is at an absolute great price. I ended up getting 6 records for about 25 bucks. So so so worth it. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the staff is great, all around its a great place and i highly recommend it. Definitely will be going back. read more
