Stopped into Technique Records on 8/28/26 to see if they were interested in purchasing some of our old vinyl records after a miserable experience at Found Sound in North Miami. Really cool, hip store with large inventory of old records and interesting memorabilia on display. Also had 2 record players with headphones where customers could check out the vinyl while in the store. Really nice young guy helped us out, took videos of our records as he flipped through them, sent them to the owner who was offsite, and within about a half hour, they purchased a large stack of our records. Located on 79th street east of I-95 close to the intracoastal, this record store buys, sells, and trades records, cds, and even cassettes. Technique records was a pleasant detour on a trip down to Miami. This store has a huge selection of records in varying conditions and genres. Mini records, promo albums, albums from other countries, singles, and even new unopened records can be found here. There is also a section for local artist. They also have several $1 bins where you can find hidden gems if you have the patience. This store was pretty consistently busy and staff was always around if you needed help with something. There are two turntables available to listen to records before you buy (as long as they aren't sealed). Definitely stop in with some time to explore whether you are new to vinyls or a pro. read more

You can sell, buy, and trade at Technique records. They have a great musical genre selection ranging from electronic to modern and mostly everything in between. You can find some rare vintage finds here too, like I did. They sell used and new records, as well. From singles, remixes, to full albums. Prices are decent. You can pre listen to records on their listening stations before you buy. They have live DJs spinning from time to time. I don't understand what the deal is with this place. They're so utterly organized, they try and help you out, they also have a hefty backstock and some good titles. I just don't get it? Why isn't this a crappy record store?! Technique Records, they don't buy trash. I've found a bunch of great titles here. If I was deep in Bitcoin I would buy the whole shop. They run some pretty cool events and deals so it's good to follow them on social media. They have anything from Master P to Dua Lipa and Bad Bunny. I just wish there was more K-pop on vinyl. Every time I come here the staff is always down to lend a hand, give me some recommendations. I once wanted to know a band that was similar to RHCP and they were able to help me with my dilemma. Great selection of Jazz, Hip Hop, Electronica, Rock etc. Is available. Prices on choice classic vinyl was kinda steep but I appreciated that they were available for purchase. WOW! This is the place to buy your records in Miami! I've gone here a few times n the atmosphere is always energetic and fun. The staff are so friendly and very knowledgeable and professional with music and records. Technique Records has a huge selection of different style music genres. They have old, new and hard to find music and just love this place. You won't be disappointed at all. The parking is street parking so be aware of that so at times it's hard to find a parking spot but it's worth coming to this record store. Visiting Technique Records for the first time, I soon realized that it has a great variety of vinyl records and a well-kept feel. They also have other formats like CDs and cassette tapes as well as other merchandise like books, magazines, music production equipment, analog synthesizers, and guitar pedals. I took off one star because there was a staff member who was using a drill to remove shelves while we were browsing, and my sister, my boyfriend, and I had to wait awhile to check out while another staff member was having a conversation with a customer. read more

Who would think that in 2018 people would still have a need for vinyl records, especially with things like Spotify® or IToons® where u can hear music for free. Techniques® (like the record player) is here to prove that you DO need physical items in your life. Anyone familiar with the underground vinyls scene in South Florida definitely knows Mickey Ramirez® of Radioactive records®. Well, he's the new overseer and proprietor here. Last time I saw Mickey, he was bidding me farewell as I left Radioactives empty-handed after asking a bunch of stupid questions. He was on a ladder changing a light bulb. I'm glad to see him re-emerge behind Techniques. I visited the new shop on its opening night with my ladyfriend and a couple of colleagues. It is located conveniently on hustling bustling 79th St. You need a car to get here, although my ladyfriend spotted a bus bench nearby with some vagrants creeping about. As we rounded the corner we could already see an odorous melange of humans gathered in front. A who's who crowd of local music-makers, business owners, art-shmoosers, space-takers, elbow-rubbers, and belly scratchers. We were in good company. All the lights were on and the cash register was buzzing. The line to get in reached outside the door and we had to wait about 20 minutes before going inside to smear our grubby little hands all over the merchandise. You may be the type of person that thinks "I'm not a deadhead, doper, or bugger, why should I go to a record store." Well folks, Techniques has something for everyone. From The Doobie Brothers for Dad to Dead Reptile Shrine for the kids. Everything is segregated into genres, then alphabetized. And someone with a highly eclectic taste like myself will find a lot to shake a stick at here. I listen to almost everything...except for country music. I was looking for some Sublime but wasn't sure where to find them since they seamlessly blend reggae, ska, punk, rap, and rock into their own original pop stylings. I don't know too much about music, but I thought it was confusing to have Wire and the Stranglers in the punk section. Two trailblazing groups emerging from the late 70's/early 80's punk scene with an uncompromising and angular post-punk style all their own. Other than that, It was all organized very neatly and knowledgeably. Mickey had made all of his servants wear matching t-shirts which added a nice touch of his old world charm from working at corporate behemoth Barnes & Nobles. By this point I had already worked up a pretty hefty stack, consisting of records I didn't really need and stuff I will regret buying later and just donate to Goodwill®. Although I was happy to walk away with a minty copy of the Sound's seminal 1980 LP, Jeopardy. VG++ There was a guy playing shitty old Spanish music that my parents used to listen to in the 80's. SO punk. And I thought I was eclectic. I didn't check to see if they had a transgender bathroom, but they did have a "girl group" and "black metal" section. PROS: Lots of records. Free PBR CONS: Free PBR. It says on the store flyer that they open at 11"PM" on Saturday... way past my bedtime! read more

DO NOT COME HERE!! Staff is very sneaky, not helpful at all with questions (especially prices). They cater to the regulars, and will help them over any other customer whenever possible. Located in an area which has many dining establishments, and also not far from North Beach so you can really make a day out of being there if you live far like me. Asked for the original price who brought me there in person. He said "but you are not paying shipping fees" (trying to be somehow funny). I went to Technique for the first time with the goal of finding a birthday present for a friend. I know the kind of music she likes but don't really know the names of the bands. I scanned the appropriate section and called someone who knows more about the genre to help me narrow down my stack of potentials. When I got to the counter, I explained in detail what my friend liked. The woman working immediately led me to a record by a band that had recently played in town and had been a huge hit. I called my expert friend again who let me know that the giftee had not only attended the aforementioned show, he had seen her buy all of their merch, and the record the clerk had suggested to me was a compilation of the records they were selling on that tour. The staff's recommendation was so on point that it turned out she had already bought the record. read more
