Really cool, hip store with large inventory of old records and interesting memorabilia on display. Also had 2 record players with headphones where customers could check out the vinyl while in the store. Really nice young guy helped us out, took videos of our records as he flipped through them, sent them to the owner who was offsite, and within about a half hour, they purchased a large stack of our records. Technique records was a pleasant detour on a trip down to Miami. This store has a huge selection of records in varying conditions and genres. Mini records, promo albums, albums from other countries, singles, and even new unopened records can be found here. There is also a section for local artist. They also have several $1 bins where you can find hidden gems if you have the patience. This store was pretty consistently busy and staff was always around if you needed help with something. There are two turntables available to listen to records before you buy (as long as they aren't sealed). Definitely stop in with some time to explore whether you are new to vinyls or a pro.

And your guide is the sweet and super friendly owner, Sebastian! He welcomed me as I walked in and asked if I was looking for anything specific. Unfortunately he didn't have the purse I was looking for at the time, but he did have all sorts of other fun things like 80s purses, holiday decor, fun costume jewelry, etc. I left with a pair of earrings I loved. The vibes are it! I absolutely loved the 80s decor, so much I thought about buying some of the furniture, but it wasn't for sale unfortunately. But it definitely makes for great photo ops with friends. The store is small but it is FULL of goodies. It's like a retro Eye Spy and I loved it. Reminded me of a record shop that I used to frequent back in Queens, NY in the 90s. If you're into rock and metal, you'll definitely love the selection here. They had all kinds of cool albums, including some really interesting sets and Record Store Day releases that you just don't see everywhere. They also had a bunch of reggae, soul and dance LP's. Prices were a little bit higher than you could find online for most things, but there were some deals here and there. My daughter found a bunch of singles for a buck or two that we're going for more money on eBay. She was psyched. One thing that I was disappointed with was that the selection appeared to be like 95% new vinyl. I was hoping to find some used bins to look through but it was really slim pickens for diamonds in the rough. That aside, gotta love a record store like this. It's a humble location; it's in a quiet strip mall off Oakland Park blvd. Honestly, as we pulled in to the mostly empty parking lot I thought we had the wrong location. But as we entered I realized what few mall customers there were, were all in the shop. And what a nice space it was. Old school basic layout that I liked. Just boxes and boxes of vinyl to sift through. They were well organized, with punk, funk, and more all set in their areas. And the RSD specials were displayed above each of the areas they related to. It's not a huge store, but with the limited quantity it helped me find a couple things I liked. Glad to make the acquaintance of We Got the Beats, and hope to be back soon.

I mainly come here to get vinyls since there's always new ones to check out. They also have vinyl bins with deals (for example 9 for $10) which is a really great way to discover new music. Every time I have come here the person behind the counter (I think is the owner?) has always been very kind and if there's any worries about them being closed I always call ahead and there's never been an issue.

Most amp/guitar techs are butchers, thieves, and just plain assholes. The guys at Crown are none of the above. They fixed my amp promptly and held great communication the entire process (so I knew what I was paying for). The sidewalk next to the front door are $1 used records in boxes. Entered the overstuffed shop with used vinyl, magazines, books and CDs. This record store surely has some well priced hard to find original music in addition to new digital remastered vinyl. Found a few original Kiss, B-52s and Ramones albums. They offer a box of absolutely FREE records with a limit of three per person. The store policy allows customers to test play vinyl on a phonograph before making any purchase - great policy.

Mitchell Kaplan founded Books & Books in 1982 in a 500 sq ft space in Coral Gables when he realized that he loved books more than going to law school. Somehow this independent book seller has managed to stay in business in a time when most books are bought online. One of the ways they have stayed relevant is by hosting over 60 author events every month. Books & Books sponsors one of my favorite events every November, the Miami Book Fair, when 300 hundred authors converge on the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College for a week of one of a kind literary events. The fair was started in 1984 by Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus President, Eduardo J. Padrón and Mitchell Kaplan in partnership with the Miami library system. Many famous people, artists, athletes, politicians, and celebrities have come to Miami to speak about their books at the fair. It is now the largest literary festival in the country. I discovered this small Books & Books outpost while exploring Bal Harbour Shops. It might be one of the only stores I can afford in the entire mall. As soon as you walk in the heavenly smell of books engulfs you. I wish they sold it is a perfume. On the wall and tables are a good selection of the latest best sellers, popular fiction, children's book, and non fiction. They also sell reading glasses. In a time when most books stores have been shuttered, it is wonderful to see that Books & Books has managed to keep the literary loving community engaged.
