Big thunderstorm ripping through the islands AND your fridge decides to die? No problem! Big mahalo to Vincent and Junny at VinTech for coming in clutch through wind and rain to rescue my 10 year old LG fridge in the middle of a raging storm! There's never a good time for a fridge to die on you but during a nasty 100 year flood type thunderstorm event is definitely not one of them. On Thursday, 3/12, I noticed the ice maker wasn't making ice and the freezer temp was not as cold as it should be, I immediately called my usual LG specialist (they are a rare breed and hard to find for some reason) but despite several calls and voicemails/texts, I never heard back. Reluctantly I took to Yelp to see what viable options I had left to choose from and I took a shot in the dark with VinTech, who, by the way was one of the first to respond to the Yelp request and boy am I glad I chose to go with them! I immediately established contact with Vincent to see how soon he could come out and he was able to come out on Friday(ominously, Friday the 13th, of all days). If anyone lived through this weather event like I did, you will know that Friday the 13th was the meat and potatoes and nastiest day of the storm and I was expecting him to cancel or reschedule but despite the crazy conditions, Vince showed up in the wind and rain as promised! Very promising... He then got straight to work to inspect and diagnose the issue and determined quickly it was a compressor issue and provided a clear and straightforward quote for the required repair. At this point I figured it would then have to be at least a couple days before it could be fixed since a) he would need to get the part and b) he would need to reschedule another later date to do the actual repair, but NOPE. He informed me that he would be able to get the part AND have his tech/partner Junny install and do the repair THAT DAY so we could have our fridge operational ASAP, all while the entire island is flooding with power outages and all hell is breaking loose! Ummm..., what...?? Amazing! Once Junny was able to get the part and arrive at the house, work was done promptly and smoothly. Junny worked meticulously and did extremely clean work and his 20+ years of experience really shows. After everything was buttoned up, all that was left to do was to keep the fridge closed as much as possible to let it cool to do its thing. Upon checking on it several hours later before bed, the fridge was already starting to get cold and the freezer was operating normally. I cannot thank Vincent and Junny enough for their prompt response, excellent service and going that extra mile to come out to do the job, literally through wind and rain, during one of the nastiest storms we've seen in the islands. If you've got an LG appliance and cannot find anyone who will touch them, VinTech is the one to call. Called Vincent in the evening about our LG side by side malfunctioning ( I had replaced a bad evaporator fan but fridge side still not cooling), and he answered the phone much to my surprise. Told him what was happening and he told me to call him in the morning if it still didn't stabilize.
