The first two had to be left behind for the buyers and my son gave the couch away. The items at the Room Exchange are high end at an affordable price. I decided to stop in at Dwell to see if anything felt like a good fit. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for this time around - though they had plenty of great pieces and they get new items in all the time - but I have to share how wonderful and helpful their team is. Not only is the store well designed and easy to navigate, but while I searched, I was asked by a few team members during my walk around if I needed any help. They weren't pushy and didn't stop me from what I was doing - just gently reminding me they were there if I needed them. Eventually, I realized I could use their help with some design choices I wasn't sure about. They happily walked around and showed me items like what I was looking for, and they were so helpful in honestly replying to my questions about whether certain items would look right with my furniture, which I showed them a photo of. They were honest and weren't just trying to make a sale - letting me know that my hesitation was right and the certain item didn't quite fit. But they showed me some other items that might. Super helpful and I truly appreciate their time and friendly demeanor. Now, to the gem I found along the way! Last holiday season, I badly wanted to purchase this adorable golden bear decor, as it reminded me of the giant golden bears out on Water Street. However, they sold out quickly and had to be purchased as a pair with a second panda decor that I didn't want, so I never purchased it. Imagine my surprise when I walked in to the Interbay Dwell location today and found it! I'm so excited to display it for this holiday season. Once I finish up with my move, I'm excited to go back to Dwell and figure out the finishing touches. And I know the friendly team there will be there to help!

I want to take a moment to shout out Jamie Negus, the manager here, as she goes above and beyond delivering expectations to clients. My colleague and I went in looking for a piece for our store, and there was a fabulous table ... with a split down the middle. Jamie, in 24 hours, turned the table around with new paint, a distressed look, which was completely customized. The crack was still there but barely noticeable with the finish. She is a true gem to work with and I definitely recommend stopping by to look around...you never know what you'l find.

They delivered the furniture just as expected and it lasted for about eight years. And I was able to give it to friends still in good shape. We purchased the sofa and are very, very happy with it. 6 months later and we need a new mattress and as we all know MATTRESS SHOPPING SUCKS! I made the typical rounds with the well known major bed retailers. I had two sales people literally follow me out of the store and I thought one guy was going to break out in tears when I left. It was awful. We found a memory foam with gel mattress at the Furniture Guys that we liked earlier in the day. We found others that we liked as well, however the price was usually more than double of what we liked at the Furniture Guys place. We went back, tired and hungry after making the rounds and tried the bed out again and decided to take it. This was on a Saturday afternoon and they said they could deliver it that day! I wasn't expecting anything before Monday so that was a bonus. The delivery guy didn't show up until 7:00pm that night but they did get the bed there. Sunday morning I wake up at 4:00am in back pain agony. I was convinced that I could not sleep on that bed and went back to the store to find out what my options would be. The receipt he gave me the day before was for someone else, so we got that switched out. George was very patient with me and listened to my concerns. He explained that going from a coil bed to memory foam will take some adjustment and the mattress will become less firm with use. He suggested that we give it a little time and if we were still unhappy he would make it right. I took him at his word and lo and behold slept like a baby the second night! However, in looking at my receipt after we got home, I noticed that I was overcharged by $53.00. I called George and he issued a credit right over the phone. I do believe it was just an honest mistake and he was quick to fix it. I totally recommend this place and I will return in the future for sure. Love the couch and the mattress. Beautiful pieces at reasonable prices…read more This is not a Goodwill, so don't expect the pieces to be cheap. What's funny is we were just at Goodwill so I saw a glass jar that was similar to one I found at Goodwill, it was $8 at Goodwill and $34 there. However, that was the only piece I found at Goodwill, whereas here there were so many beautiful pieces. You really can't compare the two, so I'll stop here, but I just wanted to make that clear. I've been into helping the environment recently, so I want to buy secondhand pieces when I can. We were looking for a vase. I ended up finding a gorgeous shell shaped vase. They actually had two, but one had a crack on one side, which is why it was discounted by $50. I decided to go for the non cracked one, which was $140. I think this is reasonable for the quality and it's a statement piece. I saw tons of other items that I loved. There was a standing desk for around $350 and a lot of benches and tables all in the couple of hundred dollar range. Again, not cheap, but definitely less expensive than they probably were when they were new. The guy working there was really nice and helpful. Parking was easy on both sides of the building. They pack this place full of such beautiful finds. I will definitely be back.

The two mid-century booths belong to a woman w/ IMPECCABLE taste & an eye for quality mid-century! (She also is in business as a Home Stager, if you're interested.) My good friend was able to purchase a gorgeous framed mid-century painting from her, as well as two framed paintings by a well-known artist. I walked out with matching & stunning black & gold mid-century glass lamps ($295 before a discount); a George's Briard 22K gold glass dish ($38-- to match a drinking glass set I already own); & a 1940's wooden movable pin ($40)-- definitely not common. I got the address from the Craigslist ad and decided to swing by one morning after my obligatory visit to Pinch a Penny to keep my pool sparkling blue so the kids don't complain. When I pulled up James was just opening his shop [pre-Grand Opening] so I was able to visit with him for a few minutes to understand his vision. I'll explain it like this...custom Restoration Hardware inspired furniture at a better price using better materials. Let's say you want a dining room table... 1.) You pick the style [table & legs] 2.) You pick the wood [reclaimed barnwood, oak, cherry, hickory, walnut, whatever you want] 3.) You choose the finish Need it a little longer, a little shorter, little higher, little lower...it's custom...he will make it to your specifications. James is a craftsman...his work is beautiful with excellent attention to detail. I was motivated to write this review because here's a guy who after retiring from the military has decided to chase his dream and create a business from his passion of custom woodworking.

The owner James, agreed to pay me $75 an hour to install one of his over priced barn doors…read more He said it would only take three or four hours, it took 11 hours and though I recommended adding a header because there were no studs he hung a heavy barn door, bolted four times into drywall, and only three times into header studs. He then only paid me for three hours of work. I was outraged by this and he said the agreement was for three hours and I said well it wasn't three hours it was 11 hours. This piece of garbage doesn't pay what he owes. He agreed on text message later that he owed me an additional $520 but tells me that I have to take him to court because I hurt his feelings. I have it on record that he acknowledges that he owes me the full amount and this jerk has the audacity to tell me he's going to wait to pay me for it to process through court. Do not do business with this man. He doesn't install the work the correct way and he cuts corners. And then he wanted to demand my insurance and say that I am 100% responsible for the door install when I told him the correct way to do it, and all he did was dictate how he wanted it done and get in the way and slow down the door install process , he doesn't know how to use a tape measure and he measured it incorrectly so many times I had to redo everything he was trying to do. It would've taken half the time had I done this by myself, including opening up the drywall and adding additional studs for the barn door to mount to. This guy does terrible work and then he is a hostile liar. Manipulator. Trying to pay me $50 an hour instead of 75, and then coming up with nonsense babble about wanting to meet me in person just to waste my time and try to pay me less than what he owes.

This past Shop Small Saturday, I visited with 4 other people and her shop was (safely) bustling. I found a record for $1 outside and I did not have any cash - instead of having me use my card for a buck, she gave me the record for free. These types of small things make people come back and bring other people with them. This is a gem of a store (located just a couple blocks from where I used to live) in Seminole Heights. Check it out and spend some time finding some cool vintage treasures like books, records and furniture.
