spicy veal meatballs
Kim O.

I attended a group dinner at this restaurant and was surprised that it wasn't better. We were a group of about 13 people but initially was placed at a table for 8 people. After playing musical chairs we were seated at a larger table and waited approximately 30 minutes for a waiter to come over with menus and take drink orders. Now the restaurant isn't big and they weren't crowded, but the workers seemed like they were overwhelmed. Finally the waiter takes our orders. He brought over some bread with olive oil which was pretty good. I ordered the meatballs with papadelle pasta with sauce and zeppolis for dessert. The meatballs were good (they were a little spicy) but they were sitting on top of what I think was polenta and I couldn't figure out why that was needed as the meatballs and the sauce were fine just they way it was. The rest of the food lacked ANY seasoning. Everything was bland, even the dessert. A few people that were sitting around me ordered the branzino and they said the same thing about their food. The waiter was asked to bring salt and instead of a shaker he brought a small bowl of salt with no spoon - people decided to use their fingers to salt their food because it was hard to get the attention of the waiter. It even took awhile to get the check - and I couldn't figure out why because again, the restaurant isn't big and they weren't crowded. Definitely underwhelming and disappointing.

Came here for a group dinner. The food was just ok- nothing outstanding and seemed to lack taste. The prices were also fairly high for what we got- a glass of wine was $18. Ambiance was very nice though. This would definitely be a good date spot- it's quite romantic. Service was good as well.

This place is a gem. One of a kind in every way and I cannot wait to dine in again. The ambiance is dark, intimate and cozy. Clean and comfortable as well as the staff being super attentive. They're great with small groups and big groups. My group wasn't the smallest and everything went smooth as butter. The food was DELICIOUS and unique as well as the drinks. It's the type of food you won't get in other places at all. The pasta was very well made. I really enjoyed the staff and how kind they were to us all. We went for a birthday and the birthday girl could not be happier with her choice! They gave us a nice pastry and a nice birthday song! I hope to return soon with another group of people! Thanks for everything'

Came here with a group of 3 and had a reservation so it was easy to get seated immediately. Good: - Omg the free bread was great - focaccia bread - Good intimate dinner vibes - The food all came out so quick! - Polenta fries were amazin, good crispy texture - Mushroom appetizers were savory and sweet - Ragu was tasty and very well portioned Bad - it's on the expensive side Overall I'd come again! This place was impressive in vibes and in service

TLDR: 3.75/5: Service was fair, the food was definitely good, not particularly blown away given the price, with a very nice date night kind of ambiance. Ordered: Sauteed Wild Mushrooms: 5/5 - There is something about mushrooms but when they are simply sauteed well they are transformative in the mouth. And this was one of those dishes. They were cooked perfectly and the flavor was outstanding. Dare I say was the best thing I had. Linguini De Mare: 3.75/5 - It got docked a point because it was lukewarm upon delivery. The shrimp was overcooked, not many clams, and the mussels didn't hold much flavor. The pasta itself was just okay, cooked well but I didn't really get a blend of flavors ultimately, so it just felt a bit of a steep price for what was delivered. Other: I did love that they had bread and oil for free. Restaurants hardly give any free starters these days and this also was quite good for it to had been just bread but I love my carbs so I know it well. Service: 3.75/5 The service again was just okay. Didn't particularly feel a warm energy at all from the host to the server. In fact, they were watching us, I hope for better reasons than what I was thinking. The cup never ran dry which is always a plus. Ambiance: 4/5 Its not going to be everyone's vibe: the darkly lit, close tables, wooden chair . I thought it was fine and it is quite a cute place actually. Although I must say the wall in my photo was triggering my trypophobia, it was starting to make my skin crawl with all those holes but that's a me problem. Notes: - Its a bit of a walk from the nearest station but not bad of a walk in Harlem. - Definitely book a table online just in case

My friend and I came to this elegant spot for dinner. The space is cozy with lovely, simple decor with dim lighting. Upon being seated, we were served complimentary focaccia bread with olive oil and vinegar. The bread was nice and fluffy, topped with fresh herbs. It tasted wonderful with the traditional mixture of olive oil and vinegar. For the appetizer, we shared the Fried Calamari, which came with paprika aioli. There was a generous helping of the calamari, which was perfectly light and crispy, well seasoned, pairing well with the bold flavored creamy sauce. I was set on ordering the Black Sea Bass, but it wasn't available, so went for the Cod, which came with wild mushroom risotto, made with red pepper flakes and lemon. The Cod was pan seared with a slight crunch, delicate, flaky, tender, as well as flavorful. The risotto was enjoyable, with plenty of cheese and mushroom. As for dessert, we tried the Olive Oil Cake, which had berry compote and fresh whipped cream. This was oh so tasty! The cake was super moist, melt in your mouth delicious, while the berry compote was juicy, sweet, with luscious, velvety whipped cream. All the ingredients mingled beautifully together. Service was solid. Our waiter was friendly and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. My friend and I enjoyed our time here. I would be open to returning to try the Polenta Fries, NY Strip Steak Au Poivre, or Short Rib Ragu.

First visit. The seating was bit "tight" for me, but I guess people would consider that "intimate dining". Food came out quick once order was placed, not in any particular sequence. To me (my opinion), the food lacked flavor. In all fairness, I am getting over a bad cold, so my tastebuds could be a little off. Great ambiance & lighting for linking up with friends or networking.

Candle lit and dim, Vinateria is a cozy, yet lively spot in Harlem. It's quite noisy inside, so if you want more intimate and quiet conversations, this might not be it. I purposefully booked 6pm so that we could enjoy happy hour but since we were seated on a 4 seater table not the round tables next to us, we couldn't do it. We got marinated mixed olives, mussels, the seared cod, salmon and whole roasted branzino. We also got a tiramisu for dessert. While the food was a hit overall, there were a few misses. The branzino had the main bones taken out but some still remained and were annoying to pick out. Some bread and salmon had burnt bits, and the tiramisu was small. We came to celebrate my mother's birthday, and even though I made a note of it and called them 1 hour before the reservation, they didn't put a candle in the dessert nor sang as they said they would.

It is amazing how many new restaurants have opened in Harlem these past few years. (Hotels too) We we're staying nearby and came here for dinner and we're pleasantly surprised. They were pretty busy, and the service was a little spotty, but the food was very good. We started with wine and cocktails, marinated olives, cheese and crackers, polenta fries and roasted mushrooms. I ordered the whole branzino- admittedly the presentation was different. I've never had it served whole as if it were still in motion- at first I thought some ingredients were forgotten until I realized it was stuffed. It was a nice mix of flavors - chef's intention was for each bite to encompass all of the flavors and they all paired nicely together. I can't recall what everyone else ordered but we all left very full and very happy. Highly recommend it.

Calamari Fritti
Sara D.

My friends and I went around the corner of their building into the restaurant. It has started to rain so we didn't want to venture to far. We hit the Brunch Time as it was expiring. Calamari Fritti for starter, it was crispy and non-greasy. The dip sauce a pinkish Chipotle Aioli was good. The Applewood Smoked Bacon Cheeseburger were cooked to our different tastes and Mimosas to complement the meal. Service was prompt and attentive. Ambiance, ok, it got very loud at times.

Fantastic cauliflower soup

Sat at the bar- the bartender paired my wine with my swordfish and the match was perfect! She was very attentive.

ROSEMARY PAPPARDELLE Lamb Ragu, Fresh Ricotta

I dined at this restaurant on May 16, 2023 for a friend's birthday dinner. We had a 6pm reservation for 4. Upon arrival once the hostess was available to greet me she was friendly and sat me at my table right away. For appetizers we had the oysters which were very tasty, the bacalao croquettes which I was not a fan of, the veal meatballs were very good and the Brussels sprouts which were also yummy. The drinks were weak and not mixed well. Once I changed to my go to drink (vodka/seltzer) the drinks were better. My guests were also not impressed with their drinks as well. My dinner unfortunately was not that good. I got the ROSEMARY PAPPARDELLE which is lamb Ragu with Fresh Ricotta. It lacked flavor and I was not a fan of the lamb. It was ground meat. I thought it would have been shredded lamb as in other restaurants when I have opted for this meal. However my other guests thoroughly enjoyed their dinner choices. Fish and lamb chops. Lastly the service. While our server was friendly and nice, it was slow and lacked attention. Overall, great ambiance and vibe. If I did go back it would be for the happy hour good menu and try the fish. Despite my experience I would tell anyone to check it out for themselves

I'd been meaning to stop in for a long time, and finally came in for brunch with a few friends in the area. The brunch entrees come with a bloody Mary, mimosa, or coffee, which I thought was a good deal for the price. The menu has some really interesting options, but we all found that the food underdelivered a bit. I personally went for the orange saffron pancakes, which were just a miss for me in terms of flavor and texture. Service was friendly and attentive, though, and the space itself is really nice (with outdoor seating options as well). I'd happily come by again and try out a few other things.

The food itself was bad -- like really bad. From start to finish everything missed the mark: The hummus was bland and tasted like someone forgot the spices. The doma (dolmas) were disappointing and didn't have the rich flavor they should. Even the baklava, which should be a sweet highlight, was dry, lackluster, and honestly not enjoyable. The Turkish coffee was so bitter it was almost undrinkable -- if you like bitter coffee, maybe it's your thing, but it wasn't what I expected. They market themselves as Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine, but what I ate didn't come close to what I'd consider good food in that category. My stomach was still growling afterward -- and not in a "I want more" way, but in a "why did I eat this?" way. The staff and service were fine and the atmosphere is pretty, but at the end of the day it's just not worth it when the food itself is so underwhelming. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for authentic or tasty Turkish/Middle Eastern food.

We started with 7 family style small dishes: Hummus with Falafel Pops (chickpea purée, tahini, falafel, olive oil), Spring Burrata (roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, basil oil), Hamachi Crudo (passionfruit vinaigrette, citrus zest, cucumber, mint, sesame tuile), Scallops (carrot puree, serrano pepper, brown butter sauce), Tenderloin Skewer (zaatar chimichurri, fresh herb salad), and Shiitake Stuffed Grape Leaves (tomato coulis, yogurt foam, herbs). Everything was delicious. The hummus was well seasoned the falafel had a nice crunch. It went well with the warm puffy gyro bread that came to the table. The burrata was wasm and creamy. I love the vinaigrette on the fish. I ended up eating most of it. The scallops were the sweetest, most tender ones I have ever had. The tenderloin skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the grape leaves but the rice consistency was very soft almost mushy and you can barely tell there were mushrooms. There was barely any mushrooms flavor. Next we all chose an entree. I got the duck breast, my husband and daughter each had the beef tenderloin. The duck breast was smaller than i expected. The skin was nicely seared and very crispy but boy did it give my jaw a workout. It was done medium rare. It was juicy but tough. The small beef tenderloin was tender and smoky. The waiter poured the sauce over the tenderloin for added flavor. Finally dessert was a fruit plate with ice cream and pudding. The fruit was fresh and the flavors of the ice cream and pudding unique. It was a nice end to a good brunch. The price was a little expensive at $85 a person.

The atmosphere is cozy, elegant, and inviting -- exactly the kind of place where you instantly feel at home, whether you're there for a quiet dinner or celebrating with friends. The quality of the food was outstanding across the board. I ordered the Sultani Kebab, which was perfectly grilled, beautifully seasoned, and incredibly tender -- every bite melted in my mouth. My friend had the Lamb Shank, and it was equally phenomenal: slow-cooked to perfection, falling off the bone, and bursting with rich, authentic Persian flavors. The saffron rice was fluffy and fragrant, the bread was fresh and warm, and even the appetizers and salads showed real care and attention to detail. We literally cleaned our plates -- not a grain of rice left behind! What truly elevated the experience, though, was the service. Musa, the manager, is in a league of his own. Despite the restaurant being absolutely packed on the night we visited, he handled everything with grace, professionalism, and a genuine smile. He made sure we were seated quickly, checked in on us throughout the meal, and made every single guest feel like a VIP. Musa and his team are a powerhouse -- incredibly strong, well-coordinated, attentive, and passionate about what they do. You can tell they take real pride in their work, and that energy radiates throughout the entire restaurant. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions, the premium quality of the ingredients, and the top-tier service. It's rare to find a place that nails all three -- food, ambiance, and hospitality -- but Ravagh absolutely does. My friends and I left feeling completely satisfied, well-fed, and already planning our next visit. If you're looking for authentic Persian cuisine in a warm, welcoming setting with a team that truly cares, Ravagh is the place. To drink, I ordered the Tehrani Mule; a take on the moscow with a house made ginger lime juice. 8/10; a tad watery. We decided to go family style with ordering and chose the mediterranean salad, kotlet, and falafel to start. The falafel was perfectly crisp with a slightly smoky outer crust that added really great texture and flavor. A bit dry tho -- Needed the hummus and Mezze Platter to dress it up a little. Salad was refreshing, crispy and a great palette cleanser across the table. The combo platter + mixed rice was fabulous. Chicken was tender and came right off the bone (something I'm new to but it was good!). It came with a side of tzatziki and persian zhoug (?) - a minty and herby chutney that just added another layer to the aromatics of the dish. Although the rice was great, it was a really large portion even for the group of 5. It would've been nice to have the option to split to a half portion of vegetables or different grain to balance quantity. Overall 8.9/10 - Definitely worth a visit with a group for business dinner or catching up on a friend's night out. The service is great, everyone is super attentive and you can really feel that the food with made with love. So glad I tried this place and I'll be back to give their dolmeh and dessert a taste!

On top of that, we were given tastes of dessert & liqueur - such a nice treat at the end of a long meal. I especially appreciated that the head guy alerted us that gratuity was already added to the check. We had such a great time, that we opted to tip more! I was happy that my group had such a positive experience, and surely will continue to return.

We could not have been happier with what we got for a place that we picked totally randomly. First of all, the place is popular and we did not have resos, but the staff were super nice and found us an open table that we could eat at as long as we put in our orders quick so they could get the table ready for a later reservation in an hour. Then the food itself arrived and was really delicious and well presented, just look at those kebab plates and dips! They also gave our group free baklava at the end I think just because they felt a little bad they had to rush us, which wasn't even their fault and was super appreciated. Also, the interior decoration is fantastic. The restaurant feels super classy and elegant. Great vibes for a date, a business dinner, or just a fancy dinner. Overall, easy 5 stars. Great food and amazing service. Oh and the wine was delicious too.
