Then, the owner(?) came out & we chatted. I was just super psyched that he was so genuine- he listed off what he had left. I settled on jerk pork, rice & peas, mac & cheese. He took off & came back with a 5lb to go container all bagged up!! $28. Ummm, ok. Here's $35 cash. Let's move on. Absolutely delicious!! I only upset i can't have another plate for lunch tomorrow! Don't walk- run or drive fast to get here for an awesome plate of food & positive vibes!

$31 FOR THIS?!…read more Listen... I really tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but baby, NO. I paid $31 for this tiny little box of food that looked like a damn bento box, plus some mac and cheese. And when I tell you I was disappointed... I was DISAPPOINTED. First of all, the jerk chicken was basically bones and scraps. I'm talking barely any meat whatsoever. I was literally looking through it like... "Okay... where is the chicken?" Then the rice and peas were UNDERCOOKED. Crunchy. The cabbage? Also undercooked and crunchy. I got a whole bunch of rice, but what am I supposed to do with a whole bunch of crunchy rice? The plantains? Two tiny pieces. TWO. And then we have the mac and cheese. Chile... what was THAT?! Dry, bland, tasteless, and honestly looked like somebody boiled some noodles, threw some shredded cheese in there, put it in a cup, and said, "Yep, that's mac and cheese." No seasoning. No creaminess. No flavor. Just... noodles and cheese. So to recap: $31 for a tiny little box of food, scraps of chicken, undercooked rice, undercooked cabbage, TWO tiny pieces of plantain, and some dry-a$$ mac and cheese? Yeah... no ma'am. I was standing ight here at City Hall Plaza looking at this food like you have GOT to be kidding me. 10/10 would NOT recommend. Actually, I'm giving it a 10/10 disappointment rating, because at least they were consistent.

The place was not busy and the staff was in the kitchen. It did take a while for someone to come out as I was looking over the menu offerings and I decided to eat here and took a seat at a table. I placed my order for the Empanadas Trio ($9 plus tax) and the Spaghetti with House Cream Sauce ($14 plus tax) and chicken (add $2). I was brought over some cold water and complementary plate of homemade fried crisp tortilla chips and fresh tomato salsa. The Empanadas Trio came out first, very hot, 3 good sized deep fried empanadas, 1 filled with cheese, 1 filled with shredded chicken & cheese, and 1 filled with ground beef. The shell was light and crisp and ketchup and tangy orange dipping sauces were provided. I would say their empanadas are some of the best I've had in the area! Next, the Spaghetti entree came out, a modest portion served in a bowl. The spaghetti was cooked soft with a light cream sauce not too rich and pieces of boneless pulled chicken, some pieces were chewy. After I was finished, I requested the check, but the total was initially incorrect since they charged me an additional $6 for shrimp instead of $2 for chicken. I saw the staff try to fix my check on the computer, but there was no pollo chicken option. I already knew the total with tax should be $26 and change and I paid cash with tip rounded up. Overall, I pretty good meal here and I would definitely order the empanadas again and try some other things next time. They also have a tres leches cake too.

Now she raises her food prices again it's $24.00 dollars for the oxtails and she call that medium and 15.00 for Stew Chicken. the amount for the stew chicken not bad that's reasonable. For 24.00 dollars you don't serve oxtail that's mostly have fat on it and 4 chopped up pieces. The stew chicken gravy was red and taste like spaghetti sauce. I just had to call her and tell her about it! She was silent and said she didn't hear what I said it I repeated it and then she said it was a medium and I said a medium with no oxtails and your stew chicken tasted like spaghetti! I will no longer buy from you again and will tell all friends! once it gets out there you will lose business and raising your prices won't help!! I often gauge the attention to detail with an establishment by the cleanliness of the restroom. Theirs was absolutely spotless and even smelled fragrant! That's a great indicator. Furthermore, anytime I get Jamaican cuisine it's like a good Italian restaurant with a litmus test. For Italian, it's calamari; for Jamaican it's the jerk chicken. Mama Mia did they hit a homerun. However, I also got an order of the curry chicken for a rounding of the flavor bases. PRO TIP-get the traditional rice and peas, ask for the ox tail sauce over the top. NEXT LEVEL! Both chicken dishes were slow cooked and maxed out with flavor. The heat level of the curry was actually a little more than the jerk. Regardless, they both hit the mark. Highest recommendation! Bon appetite! PS-super friendly service and staff.

I honestly felt so good after eating the food here and that's how you know the ingredients in your dishes are of good QUALITY. Our bodies can tell after we eat unhealthy American fast food, we feel sluggish and like sh*t but HERE at Kiwaz Caribbean Spice, I closed my eyes with every bite and I felt so good after I ate my food!!! They have a cool little set-up with a service window so you can order when you get there. I also saw they have seafood boil so I'm definitely going to try that my next time.
