My partner and I were approved for a unit after viewing three properties by this management! While…read more2 Lofts was shown in terrible condition (with bugs, old food, and stains still in place), we proceeded with applying for the cleanest unit which was even more of a red flag because for this unit they said someone was already suppose to pick up the key but she ghosted them! A week later Franny called with an approval and we also received an email confirmation. I mentioned I would be applying for Homeless Assistance through Contra Costa County, and they were obviously depending on it more than myself. This was my first time navigating permanent assistance, so I had questions. I asked if it was possible to separate the lease, I was informed the next day by Franny after checking with her broker they can't proceed with that & I was ok with that, as they still proceeded to go through with everything relying on the permanent assistance! Eventually, I found out the county was able to proceed with both of us on the lease, which was even better! Unfortunately, due to delays with my caseworker which I made a complaint on while trying to reach her for a week which I feel she was ignoring me on purpose because my case was switching to Alameda County July 1st which I just think she didn't want to do any paperwork for my assistance! After finding out I was denied assistance due to accepting a new job with the City of Oakland, my offer letter wasn't good enough & they wanted paystubs even though my worker told me I can. I told them it takes at least 3 weeks for the process & was waiting for my employee Id number Proof wasn't enough, unfortunately they wont pay more than 80% of your income. The moment Franny found out the county couldn't pay, she ghosted me. I emailed Franny the same day I was denied no response so I called the next day. Still, I offered to pay the entire deposit and rent out of pocket for the unit to the property management and even let them know I could bring the full payment the same or next day & move in on the 7th no later than the 15th! My partner makes 3.5-4x the rent, and I have additional self-employment income. Eventually, I was told they weren't moving forward with my application I was ultimately told the owner didn't want to deal with it I truly didn't understand and the reasons kept changing First, it was because originally planned to move in on the first Then, it was the "inconveniences with the county" (even though I was pushing the process myself) Then it was allegedly "fraud" because I asked about separating leases, which was an honest question, not a demand although after they still proceeded to ask and move forward with me! She said it seemed as if I was unreliable! Like huh? Then after I mentioned a fair housing complaint Franny stated the county thinks something is up with you too" A completely inappropriate comment that made me wonder if my confidential information was being shared improperly or if I was being retaliated against. I never received a written notice explaining why we were denied, even after asking twice. This experience delayed my family by two critical weeks, and based on how it unfolded, I strongly suspect source of income discrimination. We were transparent, financially qualified, ready to pay, and had solid rental history but none of it mattered at this point after they realized the county wouldn't be footing the bill. Which makes me realize I don't think they even did any job/ or rental history verifications! If you're a working person trying to get stable housing or using assistance in any way, be cautious. Based on my research, this is not a unique experience. It's common for people using public assistance to be treated as less-than even when they're offering to pay everything themselves. I'm filing a formal complaint with Fair Housing, and I'll continue to speak up not just for myself but for anyone who's ever been quietly discriminated against and made to feel like they are the problem. We deserve better.

Even in very high-pressured situations (buying and selling can feel very high stakes at times), he asks the right questions and specializes in handling difficult personalities with grace. His focus was always on helping us close as efficiently as possible over making a point that someone had made an error. He is just the kindest, most charming person and his whole team is the same. The first house, sold in 2019, became the most viewed property in Oakland on Zillow and received 10 offers. It sold for ~15% over asking price. The second house, sold in July 2024, for 25% over asking price and received 4 competing offers, at a time when many Oakland homes had difficulty selling. When selling with Remy, it is well worth your trust and money to follow his aesthetic renovation advice, it will pay for itself when you receive offers. He has a great crew of handymen, gardeners and stagers that made our homes shine. The end product stands out from other homes on the market, which he is able to capture in stunning photos, presented flawlessly on the top real estate platforms. Remy has a great reputation amongst other agents, which helps a lot, because agents seem not to encourage their buyer clients to tear the house apart looking for anything to lower their offer. We would absolutely recommend Remy Weinstein Real Estate. He's the first person we will call for future purchases or sales.

MORE IMPORTANTLY THOUGH, I would like to warn potential clients to beware of Jeanique Cook!!! To begin, navigating the Bay Area housing market is already difficult enough-- especially if you're a college student. Rather than demonstrating common human empathy and willingness to work with us, Jeanique took advantage of our desperation. Not only did she fail to communicate with us, she was extremely rude at times where she did. How did she get hired?? Is this really what kind of image the company wants to portray? Rudeness and inadequacy? Furthermore, not only did she tell us to proceeded with the application (which, by the way, $42 per person and summing up to $336 in total), she didn't communicate with us for two weeks and we found out that they were proceeding with someone else instead?? Why would you tell us it would be okay to proceed with the application, have our co-signers also pay a $42 fee, and then reject us because someone else is more "qualified"? Jeanique didn't even communicate with us to let us know if anything was lacking to make us "less qualified." Now it's already almost May and we're stuck in a terrible position because we were under the impression that we would be accepted. I'm down $84 and I don't have housing. Oh and the website is absolutely garbage as well. You can't even go back to edit information and it's extremely confusing. Overall: agents need better training or review, website is garbage, poor communication, and company clearly doesn't care about their clients. I feel like I got scammed.

First of all, she was extremely, EXTREMELY rude to me and my friend. When I was asking her questions via text, she got impatient and barely explained and added, "SIMPLE." As if housing in the Bay Area is not already confusing and overwhelming enough, she made me feel even dumber for wanting clarity on the application process that I was paying $84 for. That incident was absolutely uncalled for and shows what type of agents this company hires. If you do not have the patience to work with college students and young adults, then do not work as an agent in the Berkeley area. Second, she lied to me and my housemates by telling us to wait before applying to ensure that someone else "more qualified" would not apply. When we got the green light, she told us to move forward with applying. The fee was $42/person. Although that cost was already a bit high for applications, that was fine because we just needed housing at that point. We waited nearly 2 weeks for a response with no communication within that time frame, just for her to tell us they were moving forward with someone else. Basically, Jeanique Cook failed to communicate diligently and honestly, and now we are in a bad position to find housing for the summer because she gave us the impression that we would be accepted. Listen, I understand if there are other factors to consider, but have some empathy and understand that we are in a tough market. Look out for your clients and tell them to keep looking if your company is considering someone else, so we can take matters into our own hands and keep looking around. Agents should be communicative, respectful, and patient. Jeanique was none of those things and made us feel uncomfortable and disrespected in multiple ways.
