First time here and I immediately felt the authenticity of Italy. This is a little mom and pop place in Lutz. As we walked in, the staff was friendly and speaking Italian. Love it! Ordered my glass of montepulciano and was not sure what to order. Our fabulous waitress advised they could make something off menu if desired and decided to order penne alla vodka. I just knew the food would be good and I was so right. The sauce was delicious and creamy. Pasta was Al dente and grilled chicken was cooked perfectly. This restaurant is hype at Lutz area. If you happen to visit Lutz, this is more affordable Italian restaurant with a lot to offer. Reservation is highly recommended because it alway full house in the restaurant. We started with the garlic knots and salad. The salad has good dressing. The garlic knots is a bit dry until you discover the butter sauce at the bottom. Our entree is the Nodina di Maiale. It is pork chop in honey mustard brandy sauce. It was delicious. It also accompanied with some veggies with artichoke and sun dried tomatoes. Our second entree is the Mare e Monti. Surf and turf. It has the scallops, shrimp and veal in lemon butter sauce. This restaurant is definitely NOT closed so I don't know why Yelp is saying that. However, I was not impressed. The service was very, very slow. I understand short staffing issues are common now, but they had at least 10 servers running tables. Perhaps a shortage of cooks? Either way, the food was not good. We ordered the Escargot to start. It was ok. I wouldn't say great but it wasn't terrible either. It was very bland as far as flavor. The garlic knots were pretty good, but the house salad was also very plain. I chose the gnocchi as my main dish and my husband ordered the crab linguini. His dish was served with broccoli but Majority of it was cold and was not hot. The crab was definitely from a can. My gnocchi was good, but both dishes did not have authentic pasta. It tasted like it was from a box. I also ordered a side of meatballs but they were forgotten. I waited about another 15 minutes later to get those. Overall, I was very disappointed. We waited about an hour for our food after we ordered. It was very busy, but again it just was not good food. The staff was very accommodating and our server was fantastic but I do think either management or the cooking staff have some issues going on. read more

This was probably our worst restaurant experience in the last ten years. We used to eat here fairly often. Then we got tired of dealing with the woman at the front desk. We decided to try it again after about five years. The guy at the front desk sat us at a table that felt like we were in the middle of the Interstate. We requested to be seated in one of the empty booths. He said that they were for parties of four. Within five minutes of being seated he sat a couple in the booth. When I questioned him about it he got nasty. Our waiter was very nice. The salads were fine. My Eggplant Parmigiana was so tough that I could barely cut it with a knife. I sent it back and was so disgusted with the overall experience that we just left. This place will never see us again. First of all I almost never leave a bad review. But I was so disappointed here, I feel like I should say something. I'm gluten free. I don't expect anything special from restaurants but when I tell them I'm gluten free, and eating gluten will make me really sick, I am serious. Upon getting the menus and ordering drinks, I informed the waiter that I am gluten free. He said "anything on the menu we can do gluten free". I was surprised but believed him. I asked about the eggplant. "We'll, anything but that ". Then he said "any of the chicken dishes". So I said "great, how about chicken parmigiana?" And of course the answer was no. Then he said "no" to three more chicken choices. Finally I just asked for gf pasta with bolognese sauce. When I got the pasta I ate about 3-4 bites. Yeah, not gluten free pasta at all!! He came back, took the plate to the kitchen and about 15 minutes later brought gf penne with the sauce. No simple apology, etc...anything! By this time I was a bit upset, and my husband had already finished eating. I had a few bites and took the rest home. Of COURSE I was sick for the rest of the week. read more

We have found our new favorite Italian restaurant. The ambiance of this place screams Italy!! They had a live singer who was awesome And would sing happy birthday in Italian live. (We went on a Friday night) The house salad was the best one I have ever had. The clam chowder was also the best clam chowder I have ever had. We had the chicken parm and the braciola. New to the area. Been looking for an old world Italian restaurant. Made my first visit to Villaggio after hearing great reviews about the food. Had a 6pm reservation on a Saturday. After the host spent what seemed like a very long time staring at his tablet, we were seated. Alex was our server. The restaurant was busy. He promptly took our order. Drinks, bread, and salads came out quickly. But then he disappeared. After about an hour at the table, I had enough. I asked another server to find out what is going on with our food and requested drink refills. She was very responsive. She brought us drink refills and the food soon followed. We've been seated just over an hour. The food was very good. I had the veal parm and my wife had ravioli. The portions were large and the food was fresh, hot, and flavorful. Alex then returned and was VERY apologetic. He explained the kitchen was having issues and it caused the delay. He said our second round of drinks was on the house and he kept apologizing profusely. I appreciated the gesture and his sincerity. He then brought us a complimentary tiramisu as an additional apology. It was terrific. I write all this because it was the rare instance where a restaurant acknowledged the failure and made it right. Despite the bumps, I will absolutely go back and recommend others do as well. read more

I have never been so insulted at a restaurant before in my life. I waited for 2 hours for an entree. One of our guests waited two hours for his second drink. I"ve eaten here before but never has the service been this bad. We walked out after waiting two hours for our meals to arrive. No one came to us to explain there would be a wait our they were short handed. My work team and family have visited Villagio a number of times in recent years to host our holiday party. Villagio is always accommodating, has good service and a nice atmosphere. My only issue with it... there simply isn't much for a vegan to eat. My kids and wife, who are vegetarians, find plenty of wonderful options. They love the gnocchi, oil based pasta dishes and the spaghetti. And don't get them started on the garlic knots...they will talk for ten minutes about how good they are. They are fans of the caprese because the tomato mozzarella balance is spot on. For me, it's a basic house salad and bruschetta. The veggies on the salad seem fresh enough. The oil and balsamic dressing provides a slight jolt of taste. I really do enjoy the crispy bruschetta and the fresh basil and tomatoes on top (though last visit they added cheese when I specifically asked to not have any). I simply wish I had more to choose from. That being said, I'll be back. Villagio means enough to my co-workers, friends and family that I can make it work. read more

The last couple times have been disappointing. I held off on posting this but last night was really bad. We had a group of 8 and most of us ordered pasta or chicken. I was the only one to order the filet mignon and I asked for it very rare. After ordering server was not attentive but I asked the busboy to bring me a steak knife. He didn't understand and I never got it. Our food came and they literally gave everyone else a steak knife but me. I again asked the food runner for a steak knife and he said he would be right back and disappeared. Our server never came to check on us. I eventually had to use my friends steak knife to eat my food, which was WAY overcooked. Although I asked for it very rare, it was medium at best and inedible. Still no one came to check on us. This was a Wednesday night and they were not that busy. I want to like this place but this is the third, and worst, bad experience in a row. Not sure if I will return. read more

We heard many people recommend Villaggio as some of the best Italian around our area but sadly it didn't live up to the hype for us. First, we had a reservation and still had to wait 30 min for our table (we arrived on time) and watched as others walked right in and were sat. It took a long time to receive drinks (stick to wine, there is no bartender and no knowledge of cocktails-old fashioned's were bourbon with an orange slice squeezed into it with maraschino cherries), it was difficult to get our waiters attention to order food and it took a really long time for food to come out. Once it did, it just wasn't anything special. It tasted like every other average Italian restaurant. Asking around the table about everyone's food, the general answer was "meh, not terrible but not anything special". Orders included Alessandra chicken/pasta, Chicken Parm, Manicotti, Chicken Marsala. The service was wonderful; the pasta was a perfect al dente. I was burning, and had my favorite: Veal Farm. My wife ordered the Sea Bass Special. She was ecstatic. We have so missed out on this local gem! We've lived in the area for years and never visited Villaggio until last night. We decided last night we had to dine somewhere new and we all agreed on Italian. It was Villaggio for the win. We ordered a variety from the menu. The meal started with a house salad. Love the house dressing! The salad was mixed greens. Too grassy for my husband but the rest of us were fine. Salad was followed by garlic knots. Here's where they lost a star for me. They were cold. I had heard so much about these gems I was prepared for love and first bite. They even charge for extras. The knots were lackluster. But the main dishes were spectacular. The Salmon Limone was 6 stars. I'd be lying if I didn't tell you I used the pasta spoon to lap up the remaining limone sauce. The veal parm was delicious. The entire family loved the red sauce. The tortellini was cheese overload. But, that's what she ordered.... We didn't leave a bite of food on the table. We will most definitely make this a regular place to visit!
