Booked a 7:30 am class through the Mindbody app for Outdoor Level 2 Power Vinyasa // DUCK STUDIO while on vacation in OBX. $20 drop in rate. 9 students in class. Gorgeous view on deck. Instructor was clear and went through poses slowly for great transitions! So glad I went to an early class. Humid weather = sweat! Thankful Shavasana seemed to be a solid 5 minutes!

YOGA ON THE GREEN

I went to "Yoga on the Green" (Tuesdays at 7:30am at the amphitheater in Duck) and loved it! It's a beginners level yoga session that lasts about a half hour. It's a great way to start the day and the instructor is very calming, well spoken, and well educated in yoga. I strongly encourage anyone even remotely interested to go try it out! It's fun, easy, and good for the soul. (I would say it's more of a morning stretch session rather than a workout)

Beautiful setting just off the Duck boardwalk system!

Wow. Just walked out of the best yoga experience of my life with Pickles Hot Vinyasa with Surprises…read moreclass. I started doing Bikram yoga over 20 years ago in college and instantly got obsessed. The heat made everything feel better and I liked the intensity of the postures. I liked the predictability of the series. I stopped practicing for about 15 years and have gotten back into random hot classes here and there for the past few years. Just recently started doing some hot flow classes in Durham. Ironically I like the unpredictability of the flow classes. We spend most weekends out here in the Outer Banks and decided to find a local studio to try. Had no idea what this class would be so it was a random drop in. The surprises are many. There are funky transitions and plenty of challenges. I stretched things I might not have ever stretched in a yoga class. The other great surprise was that Pickles will come around and make physical adjustments (if you're comfortable with that). The first studio I ever went to was like this and in 20 years I haven't found another instructor who was as willing to help you get into a pose or push you into a little more intensity. But the biggest surprise might be Pickles himself. Be prepared for salty language and silliness AND lots of observations on what makes life worth living. Pickles is just so happy to be sharing the space with you. The authenticity is magnetic. I knew people when we lived in California who were "totally blissed out man" but sometimes it was irritating. Pickles is down to earth, the real deal. Someone you just have to hug. The class is therapeutic in every sense. Will definitely be back. Wow.

While visiting OBX we booked Thursday morning beach vinyasa with Lynn. The website was organized…read moreand detailed. It was quick and easy to learn about the studio and book a class. The Hayman St beach access is easy to locate and has ample parking spaces. The class was small, only 3 people and started on time. Lynn modified the class to target our reported problem areas and provided modifications as needed. Beach yoga in general is more challenging than yoga in the studio. Balance poses in particular are more difficult. Nonetheless, the peaceful, beautiful scenery certainly makes up for it. Relaxing and focusing on breathing and mindfulness is much easier on the beach. Plus Lynn properly eased us into the balance poses. The class was appropriate for all levels and cost $22 as a single class (in line with other local yoga studios). We enjoyed the class and hope to attend another class in the future!
