Unfortunately the house I was staying in is about 40 miles away from CF OBX or I would have purchased the weeklong pass.

Visiting an out of town gym can be hit or miss, but Outer Banks Sports Club is a must if you're…read morelooking for weight training on the Outer Banks. I am far from a serious weightlifter, but wanted to keep up with my training during our two week stay in Nags Head. First big pro was that I could sign up for my two-week membership online before I arrived, and my first visit took less than 5 minutes to get my key tag and finalize my membership. Membership includes towel service which, especially for those on vacation like me, is a big plus. Additionally, the locker rooms provide (non-locking, open) cubbies, toilets, a sauna, and three showers. During each of my 7 visits, I found the locker rooms to be clean and never without a clean towel. The gym itself has just about every piece of equipment you could want, and I never found myself having to wait too long for equipment, benches, or squat racks. Some equipment is a little more well-loved than others, but there are also some brand-spanking new pieces of equipment, so the owners are clearly putting money back into new equipment. And the more well-loved pieces are still functional, just with some wear and slightly uneven resistance at times. But by far the most impressive thing was the gym culture. Had a chance to chat with a few regulars, and each was awesome and supportive. A guy I'd never met before and who clearly spends a lot of time in the gym came over and gave me a fist bump and encouraging word after pushing through the last few reps of a tough set. It's hard to put a price on that kind of culture. Overall, well worth the price for me. I'll for sure be back next year!

Equipment quality/maintenance is questionable at best, especially the dumbbells, as many are…read morefalling apart and clearly have weight displacement issues. Facility itself is not very clean as well. Only bright spot were the employees, who seemed friendly. Does this gym get the job done as a temporary solution to keep up with workouts, yes, but it ain't pretty.

I came here after trying another gym in the area. I already knew this was a smaller gym and…read morerealized the other one was a little too big for my liking. I signed up for this online free programming full of bodyweight workout I could do at home just to see what they offer. I never got to the workouts but I did look over them and liked them. About a week and a half later, I received an email from Dianne(the gym's owner). She wasn't pushy about me coming in and seemed genuinely interested in me as a person. I met her on a Saturday while running errands. Her and I talked about my goals, what I'm hoping to get out of her gym, what i'm looking for, and what the gym offers. All of it was amazing and I had such a good feeling from the gym. Upon entering the gym with her, the nutrition coach complimented me on my Lululemon shorts. This was a big bonus because we talked about why the clothes are worth the price and how it impacts a workout-when women feel good, they do good. In addition, I noticed someone had brought their dog and Dianne made sure to tell me dogs are welcome as long as they don't distract from the workout. As a woman who loves her dog, this was an awesome surprise! She also mentioned they have open gym and the "intro" class isn't some super long drawn-out course. I loved all of it. I tried out a workout the next day and LOVED IT. The coaches were helpful with ensuring everyone in the class had correct form and knew how to do each movement properly. They also made sure everyone in the class knew proper progressions and regressions for each movement. Me and Buddy(my dog) can't wait to join! He loved it as well.

Strong, caring, and fun community. Highly recommend for anyone in the area even if your just here…read morefor a visit.
