While visiting OBX we booked Thursday morning beach vinyasa with Lynn. The website was organized…read moreand detailed. It was quick and easy to learn about the studio and book a class. The Hayman St beach access is easy to locate and has ample parking spaces. The class was small, only 3 people and started on time. Lynn modified the class to target our reported problem areas and provided modifications as needed. Beach yoga in general is more challenging than yoga in the studio. Balance poses in particular are more difficult. Nonetheless, the peaceful, beautiful scenery certainly makes up for it. Relaxing and focusing on breathing and mindfulness is much easier on the beach. Plus Lynn properly eased us into the balance poses. The class was appropriate for all levels and cost $22 as a single class (in line with other local yoga studios). We enjoyed the class and hope to attend another class in the future!

Chelsea was a true professional - she made sure to speak to me before and after class, and although yoga poses on the sand can be a unique challenge, her instructions were clear while keeping it fun. I really enjoyed her class and would come back when I'm in the area again! I'd also like to sing praises to the gentleman I spoke to on the phone prior to signing up for my session. He gave me useful information on the 2 classes I was considering which ultimately proved to be helpful! I came into my session knowing what to expect and yet it exceeded my expectations. I can't say much about their in-studio classes, but based on my experience, I'm sure they're a hit too!

Visiting an out of town gym can be hit or miss, but Outer Banks Sports Club is a must if you're…read morelooking for weight training on the Outer Banks. I am far from a serious weightlifter, but wanted to keep up with my training during our two week stay in Nags Head. First big pro was that I could sign up for my two-week membership online before I arrived, and my first visit took less than 5 minutes to get my key tag and finalize my membership. Membership includes towel service which, especially for those on vacation like me, is a big plus. Additionally, the locker rooms provide (non-locking, open) cubbies, toilets, a sauna, and three showers. During each of my 7 visits, I found the locker rooms to be clean and never without a clean towel. The gym itself has just about every piece of equipment you could want, and I never found myself having to wait too long for equipment, benches, or squat racks. Some equipment is a little more well-loved than others, but there are also some brand-spanking new pieces of equipment, so the owners are clearly putting money back into new equipment. And the more well-loved pieces are still functional, just with some wear and slightly uneven resistance at times. But by far the most impressive thing was the gym culture. Had a chance to chat with a few regulars, and each was awesome and supportive. A guy I'd never met before and who clearly spends a lot of time in the gym came over and gave me a fist bump and encouraging word after pushing through the last few reps of a tough set. It's hard to put a price on that kind of culture. Overall, well worth the price for me. I'll for sure be back next year!
