If you work in the service industry this is unacceptable and I will never be back here. Just from the service alone has turned me away from going back to snowshoe in general. The older bald gentleman who was helping was extremely unprofessional and rude and acted like he had a point to prove. If you are ever in snowshoe DO NOT GO TO HOOTS. We decided to sit at the bar because we weren't planning to be there too long and the game was on. We just ordered two appetizers: the Hangover Fries (5/10) and the Scoreboard Nachos (8/10). The fries really didn't taste like much honestly, but the nachos were actually pretty decent. The beef was seasoned well. This place isn't too bad overall, only so many options for dining provided on the actual mountain/slope side. I prob wouldn't go back here if I'm ever at Snowshoe mountain again; will just try one of the other dining spots. My overall rate of experience : 6/10

However, the portion was crazy small and was $10. Second, my youngest got Cesar salad with chicken and my wife said the chicken tasted as if it had been precooked and reheated slightly in the microwave. Last, my oldest is picky so she asked for the nacho but with just the cheese and everything on the side and no pico. Yet, it comes out with a pile of pico on the top. Also, as I'm trying to scrap off the pico the waitress said nothing about the mistake. So, if you want meh/crap food and spend $100 for 3 meals go to the locker room. SMH.

I'd summarize Jimbo's menu as burgers, wings, and other chicken items. The menu isn't huge, but Jimbo's does they do WELL. I had a crispy chicken wrap and "chicken logs" (basically fried chicken bits in an egg roll wrap) and both were excellent. Prices for food and drink were reasonable. The draft list is decent with a mix of domestics and a few crafts from the local brewery. Service at the bar was top notch, atmosphere was great, and fellow patrons were most welcoming to a couple of out-of-towners. I will definitely be back!

Amazing evening and meal at The Waterwheel…read more We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and grabbed a cocktail and mocktail in the super cute tiny pub bar. Loved the fresh flowers on the tables, and overall vibe of the place - small and intimate. Server invited us to visit the wine cellar, even if we weren't planning on a bottle. She let us know we can take any unfinished wine with us. The experience was super fun - the wine cellar room gives an up close look at the mill equipment. We enjoyed having memories sparked by different wine bottles, and ended up finding a half bottle that was perfect for the occasion. We started with the smoked trout and burrata. For entrees, pea ravioli and pork chop. All expertly prepared and tasty. We were treated to flourless chocolate torte for an anniversary dessert. Highly recommend!

Outstanding farm-to-table dining in Snowshoe…read more For anyone visiting Snowshoe Mountain and hoping to find a truly elevated dining experience, Appalachia Kitchen stands apart. The concept is simple but well executed: locally sourced Appalachian ingredients, seasonal menus, and careful preparation. In an area where "upscale" dining often leans heavily on pricing instead of execution, Appalachia Kitchen focuses on what actually matters--quality, balance, and consistency. Highlights included: * A perfectly cooked filet paired with root vegetables and a rich, restrained sauce * Thoughtful plating without unnecessary theatrics * A wine list that complements the menu instead of competing with it * Attentive service that feels professional but relaxed One standout moment: the staff happily accommodated a custom French press paired with vanilla gelato and chocolate chips--a small detail, but one that shows how much pride they take in the guest experience. Snowshoe attracts visitors from across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, and for many, this will be the memorable meal of their trip. If you're deciding where to spend your money for a special dinner, this is the restaurant that delivers on both quality and value. Appalachia Kitchen sets the benchmark for what higher-end dining in Snowshoe should be.

I was already not in the mood for anymore drinking after spending a weekend in a major tournament in Lynchburg. Anyways, for a Saturday evening, this place was pretty packed both inside and outside. Brewery # 445…read more Devil's Backbone is a very large operation it seems. They make beer, the make bourbon, and they make food. They just do them all very slowly or at least they did when I was there. We came here on a Monday evening, and it was somewhat busy but there were visible empty tables and a couple spots at the bar. We went to the bar and waited awhile before the bartender asked what we wanted. I didn't ask for a flight because he seemed too busy. Whatever I wanted they were out of, but I ended up with an Imperial 16-point IPA which was quite tasty. I also got some chicken nachos, but I had to go stand in line to order them. They were adequate but not worth the wait. The place was very disorganized. They had workers always standing by the hostess desk, but the bartender was overwhelmed. Seemed like they should have had more than one, after all it is a brewery. Would have loved to try more beer but we just left and went back into Lexington for another round at another place. I don't know maybe it was just a bad night.
