Myself & friend went on Feb 22, middle morning. I signed us up since there was a wait. 10-15 minutes. We sat there for 10 minutes waiting to be called. People were coming in. One lady & husband came in 10 minutes after we arrived . She went right up and we heard her say " our section where they sit each time they come. No more than 5 minutes this employee started talking to them. A man of color was taking their order while they sat and talked with him. I looked at my friend as he was taking their order. Mind you we were there 15 minutes before this couple came in. Others that were there before us got called up. Well we're still sitting and the kid called this customers name and she went to her section to sit. This kid took another 3 people to their table and they also came in after us. Mind you he sees us as he keeps looking at us he is taking people to their Seats THAT CAME IN AFTER US: after 20 minutes or we were still sitting in the same spot and continued to see us. Not once did he come up to us and ask if we checked in ? I did say 2 people and gave him my name because I spelled my name to him and we went to the side and waited. A couple got up to be seated so we moved and sat down. Still he sees us I'm not able to stand to long due to back surgery. So that's why we sat right near the sign in area. He kept seeing us but continued to take other customers that came in well after 10 minutes. We left very pissed off and swore we would never return to this one in Southland. I called him and told him what I'm writing here and he said he over looked our name. That's a bunch of baloney because he kept seeing us. It's not like we were sitting outside waiting. He was Not a great host knowing we had been there more than 15 minutes . sitting people that came in after us before us. Very disappointed with your service. Maybe put someone who knows what they are doing . Plus you don't take favorite customers and sit them in her section she sits in all the time and way before us. So that's why you only Got one star. We will not return to this one village Inn. They were not doing their job as a host. People that came in after us he seated way before us. I recall what she was wearing . A gray sweater with cat's faces on it. We could tell she was a regular customer and very privileged to be seated in her section. Just because she is a regular does not mean she gets to be called before us . 15 plus minutes after we were already there. You don't treat your customers like this kid did . She thinks she is more privileged that she mentions her section where she sits. It shows that others are not as privileged as she was and they are not important enough so they make you wait much longer . We walked out and will not return to this one restaurant. My grandson loves this restaurant and wanted to go here for his birthday breakfast. We were seated quickly and had a table with plenty of room for 5. We told them it was his birthday. It was my first visit to Village in because I'm not from here. We ordered our drinks. I had a latte and the kids had hot chocolate. All were good. I ordered a omelette. We also had orders of pancakes and waffles for the kids. Everyone liked what they ordered and our birthday boy got cheesecake (he wasn't a fan but we all shared and it was good) and the people working sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Another just terrible experience. Drinks come out AFTER our food. We ask to pay and are told "in a minute" after having to wait incredibly long periods of time for anything asked for already. So rude. Officially crossed this off our morning breakfast spot list because how am I tipping someone to forget about us and then be rude when we ask to pay? Today my wife and I was falsely accused of doing a "Din-n-Dash" during our last visit here, and was denied service. I quickly pulled out my phone and provided the digital transaction receipt showing I paid the bill for our meal, but that wasn't good enough, so my wife called the police to try to correct this error cause they wanted to charge us again for the same meal. In the end, we were correct and they were wrong, but we still was denied service at this Village Inn. To this date, we yet to receive an apology from management or the waitress that falsely accused us.. When we first walked in we were greeted by Leslie, but instead of asking how many she assumed. She walked us to a table in the middle of an empty area. When we asked for a booth, she proceeded to give us an attitude. When we sat she aggressively told us we would have to wait because she was busy. We were sat for maybe a minute and she came over and asked if we were ready to order. When I said I needed a minute to look at the menu she then rolled her eyes and asked about drinks. My husband tried asking if there was syrup in the regular iced coffee and she proceed to argue with him that it doesn't say regular iced coffee while he was looking at the menu. When she brought out our iced "coffee" it was straight milk. That was the last time we saw her until we had to ask the busser for more coffee because our drinks were only milk. Then she brought over coffee concentrate and left as quickly as possible. She also never brought us water or asked if we needed water. She never asked us how our food was or checked if we needed anything else. Our food was also completely cold by the time we got it. I understand we all have bad days and that servers get busy, but from what I observed she was serving 4 tables of 3-4 people. Very disappointing and negative experience. The waiter had waist-long hair, this hair got into one of the glasses of water that he brought to the table, I didn't say anything... I let him go, then this same person sat on top of the tables when placing other customers' orders... and it didn't seem right to me, when I asked for the receipt for my bill I asked him to print it and he got upset and made an annoying moan. and with a bad attitude he printed it then we went to pay and I just made a comment to the manager that it was not right for him to sit on the and I showed a photo and she was aggressive instead of apologizing I left and she called the waiter when I got into my car the waiter and manager came out to yell at me and take pictures of me, attacking me with bad words and threatening to kill me... please Please be careful when going to this location. This place has gone downhill. Our waiter was clearly annoyed at me and my mom; he greeted us as soon as sat down, and rudely asked what we wanted to drink. Then he disappeared for 15 minutes--and we had to flag him down to get our drinks. We finally got to order, and he does little more than grunt at us. Another party of two sat directly across from us, and we had to watch as he greeted them with a large smile, made small talk to them and treated them kindly. Malik never stopped to ask if we would like refills on drinks, and when he did stop, he stopped behind our booth, and spoke not more than two or three words. We finally flagged him down for our check, and not only does he just grunt at us, he chose to help the party next to us, check them out ( when they asked AFTER us for the check ) and then slowly come to our table. He dropped the scanner on our table and glared at us when we didn't tip him that much because he HADN'T DONE A GOOD JOB. I think that Malik needs to be taught better courtesy; won't be coming back until something changes. very disappointing experience. read more

Where do I start? First, my club sandwich was made with old hard toast. Then, my waitress gave my bill to another table and then gave me their check that was for twice as much. The other table paid my check and left. They got their meal for half price so good for them. After waiting 10 min for them to figure out how to charge me, I poke my head in back to tell them to hurry it up. The manager talked back to me sarcastically replying "We'll take our time thank you". Must be a regular to have good service!!! First time eating at this specific village in and our service downright sucked. Our waiter was a taller pretty young gentleman. I think he may even have been the manager, he had on the lighter blue shirt. He took our order and didn't write anything down so I figured he must be good at memorizing, NOPE! He came back like 5 minutes later asking my wife what were the last few things she had on her order. The guy running food, very tall young Caucasian guy brought us our food and took forever to bring my wife her syrup. All the tables around us he was running around for and talked to them as if they were best friends (regulars) and tending to them with everything. Completely ignoring us even tho we were right in between all those favorites after he gave us the food and syrup. After we received our food from that guy we both ran low on our drinks and were never checked on if we needed refills or how our food was. When we were done eating nobody still came to check on us for refills and just sat with empty plates in front of us for about 10 more minutes. Keep in mind the taller young kid kept just passing us. Finally our original waiter came and took our plates and still didn't ask us if we needed any refills. Another 10 minutes go by and we're still not asked if we want our free pies yet, again all while the kid kept passing us and asking his other tables the same question about pie and their bill. Finally got asked what pies we wanted and then 10 minutes later we were AGAIN what kind of pies we wanted like holy shit. Finally got them, paid the bill left a fat ZERO for the tip. I don't think I have ever eaten anything, but breakfast or pie at any VI! This one is a nice new shiny one in Southlands. I actually hadn't gone in until I really needed a pie for a birthday boy. I reserved online and picked it up after work. Apparently, Friday night is pie night because there were 3 of us in there getting pies! At any rate, it was clean and they were relatively quick. First time eating at Village Inn and it was a great find! From the moment we walked in to the moment we left was a wonderful experience. We walked in and there was no waiting so we were seated promptly. Our server was absolutely fantastic. I would even go back and ask to sit in her area, she was that good. Our server brought our drinks right away and then we let her know we had just moved here and she was great in letting us know about different restaurants and other places in the area. We placed our order and got our food about 15 minutes later. I ordered the eggs benedict and my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak with extra gravy. They did not disappoint! Both dishes were excellent. My eggs on my benedict were poached perfectly which is sometimes difficult to find! Then, we were told that a table behind us paid for our meal, sort of like a "pay-it-forward" scenario. So, we ended up doing the same and paying for the table next to us. I want to start off with saying the server Jacqueline was AMAZING!! But unfortunately the manager, Donna was not to friendly. We have had issues with the manager at the village in by us so we decided to go to a different one. Well to our surprise that same manager is a manager at this location too. As we walk in Donna is intently starting at us. As we walk in she disappears into the back. A few minutes later she yells from the back "Just 2?!?" and I responded by saying "No 3." Donna than stands by the hosts table and goes to say "I remember you.... How are you doing?" Donna said it in a way of being snarky. I asked her "Is there going to be any problems?" Donna just stars at us and says "As long as you pay your bill" again snarky. The server, Jacqueline goes and sits us as she is doing this Donna follows us and talks to me. I asked her, "can you just please be a manager and not be a petty little girl?" And Donna replies with "that's water under the bridge... In less you want to talk about it." After we sit she left us alone but would continue to stair at us. This made me feel uncomfortable. While we are sitting Donna was talking to a server and kept pointing at us. Than Donna takes out her phone and makes a phone call. Shortly after she looks like she takes pictures of us. Our food and service with Jacqueline was 5/5 stars!! We had no problems with her even know she over heard Donna and me talk about what happened last time. Walked in host with no reaction said "how many." Sat us then left. 5 mins later server came, very sweet talkative and giving a good experience so far. We ordered 4 drinks all the same super easy along with our food yet the drink took 15 to be delivered while there was only 2 other table in this section both being 2 tops. After receiving our drinks about 3 other tables came in they were served we were still waiting on food. 20 mins pass and the newest tables received their food. Assuming waiter forgot to put our order no biggy things happen but still hungry. He came over told us kitchen was slammed but it would be out shortly. At this point getting a little agitated the food finally arrived 40 mins after ordering. Food arrives I'm happy servers happy and then I eat. What I thought were croutons were supposed be soft potato's. I ate maybe 4 bites but couldn't bite into any more potatoes without cracking a tooth. The other company at the table ordered a different skillet and yet somehow just as burnt. We told our waiter he apologized which again it's a server he has nothing to do with the food itself, he offered us a refund for one of the skillets. We thank him he leaves and somehow the manager never showed. We sat with dishes on our table and basically full plates of skillet for 30-35 mins. Finally after just deciding to get up since no one told us weather the manager would come us or if we needed to somehow seek out this person I've never seen. We go to the register assuming it's the manager helping he graciously gave us a refund for both skillets rather than one. As we were paying out he felt rather curious about the kind of tip we may leave while staring at the card machine as we pay he gives an ungrateful glance to the side. While I get bad days happen I get the cook may need some help this food was awful the server took his sweet time coming to our table and lack of communication which left us agitated in a situation that could have taken 5 mins. I can honestly say I will never come to this village for lack of employees, poor food probably also fault to barely any staff.
