The ice cream was fantastic! But the homemade waffle cone stole the show! Best one I've ever eaten!!

Met a friend for lunch at A1, and had bought some books at Owl's Nest, so decided on dessert at Village Ice Cream. I had a scoop of Vanilla and one of coffee, and both were delicious. The Vanilla had tons of vanilla bean grains in it. SO good. And the coffee was so amazingly smooth. First sample of their ice cream, but not the last! read more

It's been awhile since I've been to Village Ice Cream and they've now expanded to three locations! We decided to try their Britannia location which I've never been to. We came on a Saturday evening (around 7:30pm) and the place was bumpin'. Constant flow of people coming in but don't fret, the line moves fast. Crazy how many workers/minions they have scooping and making fresh waffles. - Coconut lime and cookie dough ($7.00 double scoop) - we sampled a few flavours before deciding. Got the homemade waffle ($1.00). The scoops were generous and more than enough to share between two. Their ice cream is very creamy. Cute spot, good tunes and perfect way to end your evening. read more

Great flavors, even vegan ones. I had a double scoop. Salted caramel was sweet. Vanilla had a few frost shards in it. 2 huge scoops for $7. read more

Village has the best ice cream I've ever had. This is the location I visit most often but I've been to all of them. It's consistent across the board so pick whatever location is closest to you. Salted caramel is my favorite flavor but you can't go wrong with any of the choices, it really just depends on an individuals preferred taste. I'll be a regular customer for as long as I live in Calgary. read more

My family up in Calgary are huge fans of Village Ice Cream, so I had to try them when I visited for Christmas! I opted for the vegan chocolate ice cream and it did not disappoint! They feature different flavor every month too! read more

Village Ice Cream - Melted chocolate on a regular cone (kids scoop) - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

I first had a Village Ice Cream sandwich last summer. I thought it was pretty awesome, so awesome that I had... ah... like three in a row. A toasted coconut, salted caramel, then another toasted coconut. Yes, I over did it. Yes, I felt sick. Yes, I deserved to feel sick after my glutinous behaviour. ;-) Today was my first time into a store. Two kids waffle cones, one single waffle cone for me and a pint for my wife who is (sadly) sick at home - ice cream will surely make her feel better. Anyway, that little order of premium ice cream came out to $23 even... and the debit machine asks me for a tip on top of that. Haha. Sure. Here's two more bucks, another arm and a leg. A pricy little visit indeed. Tasted great. Loved it to last lick. I don't mind paying a premium price for a premium product but I would like premium customer service along with it. No smiles were given. No verbal welcome. Just a blank stare until we made an order. Come on folks, even Dairy Queen says hello with a smile, as does McDonalds. Improve the "experience" - make it match the quality of the ice cream and hand made waffles and I'll happily give a couple extra stars :) read more

Village Ice Cream - First of many. Yum! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

WUT WUT!!! OMG are we lucky Calgary! Village Ice Cream just opened their second location over by Suntera Market on Elbow Dr. One of the girls from work came back with ice cream yesterday that looked like it came from Village Ice Cream and I was like, "you drove all the way downtown to get their ice cream for lunch?!", she said, "nope, they just opened a location over by sunterra" :P I was actually just going to go to Chinook to check out a laptop on my break but decided to add Village Ice Cream to my itinerary! Wut Wut! I arrived at Village Ice Cream and was super excited! But first I had to add them to Yelp :D It has the same feel and atmosphere and of course all their delicious flavours! For me, the good notes are: 1) its super close to work (5 mins), but that is also a bad thing too :P 2) its not super outta the way like their downtown location. 5 Stars!!! Peace read more

Current seasonal: Everything Mark loves which is caramel ice cream with nutella and praline bits! Actually my new favorite. This Britannia location is wonderful. If there is a super long line up at the 10th Avenue location, simply drive 5 minutes to this location where there probably wont be as long of a line! Sweet! read more

The wait is super long and there's not a lot of space, but I'd wait 5 hours for their salted carmel ice cream!!

On my last visit to Village Ice Cream in East Village I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there was a second location in Britannia Plaza that opened in October of 2014. So when the ice cream craving hit again we decided to check out this location in hopes of finding the same great ice cream but with less of a line-up. For those who don't know, the East Village location regularly lines-up outside the door on any decent day. Sure enough the line at the Britannia Plaza location was minimal; there were only 2 people in front of us when we got there and the day was beautiful! So crazy when you compare it to how busy the other location gets; they have the same great ice cream just a different location. Village offers local, artisanal, handmade ice cream with natural ingredients. They also use local and seasonal and organic ingredients when possible! Even the waffle-cones are handmade :). This is all reflected in the end product, which currently features 10 beautiful flavours and even 3 seasonal specials. There are also non-dairy options, sorbets & ice cream sandwiches if you have dietary restrictions or are just looking for something different. Their prices are very fair for the quality of product you're getting; on my most recent visit they even had a Stampede Special that featured Jelly Modern Donuts! I however went with a double scoop of: their seasonal Huckleberry with Coconut Milk and Guides Mint. Another great concoction! Loved every bite of it. Unlike the East Village location that has a pretty boring industrial view/walk the scenery around Britannia Plaza is awesome. I suggest walking west towards the ridge where you can take in a view of the Elbow River and Sandy Peach Park below. Village Ice Cream is a definite must try Calgarians and visitors alike! I definitely prefer this location over the East Village spot given the quieter crowd and more walkable area. read more

A true hidden gem. The first time visiting Village, you might feel like you're in on a secret, like an underground hidden gin joint in the prohibition era. Maybe the password could be "Cardamom" or "Lavender"? Village is local and passionate about their ice cream. They use quality ingredients, and come up with more sophisticated flavors than you typically see. I can't pick a favorite flavor, but you can't go wrong with Cardamom, Honey Lavender, Guide Mint, Salted Caramel, Earl Grey or Phil & Sebastian. The scoop can't go in the dishwasher, just FYI. read more

Amazing ice cream. I love that they always change their flavours so it's exciting to try something new every time I go.

Village Ice Cream is a cult favourite in Calgary, there's often quite a line and nobody will hesitate to stand in it. For this visit I was grabbing pints to go and for a Wednesday evening in February it was really quiet. I grabbed the Meyer Lemon Pint and the Mint Guide, sooooo good! Those pints don't last long in my house. I love their commitment to working with the community and how all the people on their containers are actual villagers in the community. read more

Delicious!! I get so tired of trendy ice cream places serving good quality ice cream at extremely high prices. I mean I'm fine to pay for the quality but when you pay $6 for pretty much a tbsp of ice cream, it's a bummer. However!! Village is not like this!! You get your money's worth. I was really happy with my ice cream. So rich and creamy, A+. It wasn't too busy when we went but after we were served the people started to pour in. My sister and I sat outside on a bench and people watched, best activity for enjoying ice cream. I was really happy with the overall experience. The service was fast, ice cream was delicious, and the area is beautiful. I'll be back!! read more

We went on an adventure to check out the second location of this famed ice cream chain and it was great! Same menu and they also make their ice cream on the spot. Only wish there was a way for us to vote for their next new flavour. Been craving the Salted Caramel Brownie for the longest time. Alas, we will have to wait until next time. Favourite flavours so far: 1. Phil and Sebastian 2. Toasted Coconut Delicious. read more

This review is regarding the Britannia location only Yes, the ice cream is delicious - one of the better ice cream shops in Calgary- but I found the staff at Britannia location to be extremely unfriendly I have a toddler who loves going out for ice cream and we have made many stops at both locations but this one always fails to impressive me. Yes, the server's are usually half my age here and I brushed it off every time I noticed how little they interacted with their customers but today was one of the worst ones. NO greet NO thanks NO expressions on their face - am I asking for too much here? (By the way, the store wasn't even busy, I never asked for samples, I even apologized for taking 1 minute longer to decide what my little one wanted to eat (she never even replied to that but presented us with a STERN face the whole time???) then a comment that my husband was weird for being 'not impressed faced' while we were still eating in the store- yes we heard it)) Both my husband (my husband never gets angry) and I were quite angry leaving the store. I know the girl's name but for her sake I'll not post her name on here. I really hope that the management makes an effort to address this. Too bad my review for VIC has to be negative for this location read more

Amanda V. and I decided to go for a ride on a sunny summer evening and we ended up at Village ice cream. We both enjoyed our ice cream while sitting on a park bench in the shade of a tree. I ordered the strawberry and the mango, two scoops yes I know I'm gonna feel bad later. The strawberry was delicious, the mango was pretty low on flavor which was disappointing . Overall good ice cream. read more

My brother said this is a hipster joint. I say support local when you can. i had tried the Mango coconut which is vegan but only seasonal flavor. I didnt have anything else but it was a hot day and what could be better than ice cream for the kids. The prices are decent and I did like the fact it had a kid size scoop... Every parent can appreciate that. Take out ice cream is available in tubs also. It does get busy on hot days but the line is quick. I didnt like the lime sorbet. It was kind of bitter from the grated lime so i would avoid . But everyone I came with enjoyed this place read more

Fantastic dairy free ice cream! It's made with coconut milk. Yummy! I will definitely be returning for more.

Village is great! I prefer to come here after bedtime for the crazy number of families in this area; where 7-8 pm is really where the crowds ramp up for the 10th Ave location, here it seems to start mellowing out once the locals put the kids to bed. As always, the ice cream is great; I'm a big fan of the strawberry and maple pecan, but their feature flavours are awesome. I also love the waffle cones, but one thing I've noticed about this location in particular is that I think, because it's less busy, they don't turn around as many of these cones and so the ones I've had don't seem as fresh as usual. Still, not a huge deal. Compared to the other location, it has more of a "local ice cream shop" vibe than the hip spot vibe of 10th, but it's a little less busy and easier to get to; it's my preferred location! read more

Really nice ice cream. The one downtown isn't the easiest to find, but does have parking (you turn into the little street alongside the office in the turning circle!) They have vegan flavours (a couple more, even if just take away would be awesome!), which were fab, and the trade seemed to suggest the regular ice cream being damn good too. Very much worth a try! read more

Came here in the summer and boy was it yummy it was refreshing and tasted so good. I really love the vanilla bean one as I feel it tastes the best. My suggestion is to get a bowl instead of cone cause during the summer it to super messy so sadly had to throw it away. But it was an interesting experience ! read more

Village was a friendly establishment with nice seating outside. But after trying Made by Marcus, who uses organic ingredients, the ice cream here fell flat. For fellow foodies, I'd say it's unremarkable and similar to the Earnest ice cream or Rain or Shine in Vancouver. But for everyone else, it will do in a pinch! read more

This is what I imagined ice cream would taste like in heaven.... We tried the chocolate and cardamom flavours. Wow....just wow!! Rich, creamy and refreshing. One scoop is more than enough. Waffle is ok, not my fav. You can get a tub to take home. Can't wait to go back and try more flavours!! The interior is very simple with a hipster vibe, perfect for the location. read more

I really enjoy the seasonal flavours, who comes up with these things,? The regular flavours are great too though.

Total rip off -high prices and poor presentation. The music was blaring so loud we could not hear the servers.

Very good ice cream, nice staff and cool store. The house made cones are the best I've ever had. Definitely a go to ice cream store although it is a more expensive option. read more

Love Village Ice Cream, favourite combination is melted chocolate and toasted coconut.
