One word - amazing. I found this place randomly while…read morereading a blog and knew we wanted to spend some our time in PR in the mountains. This was perfect. It caters to a specific population - if you are looking for a no frills, quiet, scenic getaway in the mountains then this is it. They do not have room service and will provide dinner at an additional cost of $45 (food is all vegetarian). No breakfast or lunch. There is a basket of fruits in the room to make a smoothie if you'd like. Our room was about $300-325. They have three treehouses and typically have a two night minimum. We got lucky and they accommodated us for a single night. You need your own car to get up here. We initially booked the mirador which is the treehouse that is easiest to get to. If you have trouble with walking or have suitcases - go with the mirador. Due to a last minute change on the management's end up we ended up in the La cascada, which is the furthest away. You walk down a gravel path (which also requires going over some rocks). Although La cascada is reportedly the most popular treehouse because of the view of the forest and the river down below, it is the hardest to get to (esp with luggage). Yuquiyu is not a hotel - think of it more like glamping, so you would be expected to get your luggage up and down the trail. There is a cute restaurant/seating area and a reasonably sized pool with a great view. My favorite bit was lying in our treehouse at night with the shutters open and taking it in all amazing sounds of the night forest. The rooms are simple but well furnished. They provide a smoothie maker, kettle, french press, refrigerator and stove. No AC, but fans are provided, which worked for us. Mosquito nets are attached to each bed. There is a supply of coffee, tea bags, granola and honey. In the fridge there was coconut water and non dairy milk. The bathroom was gorgeous! You can open up the windows to look out at the forest while showering. Our bathroom was at the bottom of the treehouse so you do have to climb down the stairs to access it, which I thought was pretty neat. Ernest (owner) and Joel (manager) were fantastic and a pleasure to chat with. We would definitely recommend Yuquiyú and look forward to coming back with more family!

I highly recommend this beautiful, relaxing, luxurious experience of the Yuquiyú treehouse. The…read morestaff were welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived to this paradise. It is a bit of a trek off the beaten path, which only makes it secluded and secure. The sounds and sights were breathtaking. The spaces are small, but they have thought of everything. The only caution is that this is in the rainforest on the side of a mountain...so, leave the stilettos and oxfords packed away, or at least plan to put them on once you are in your vehicle. Also, bugs of all kinds, lizards, and coquí frogs are abound in nature. They have some protective measures (netting, fans, etc) but just be aware and don't freak. Relax, enjoy this heavenly haven.

The resort is a large, long rectangle with buildings running down each of the long sides, and a variety of pools going down the center. There are actually five different pools, all configured differently. All have shallow, wading areas for children, and one pool even has a zero entry section. One pool has a long, lazy river, another pool has a big slide. There are no hot tubs that we could find. All the pools have sunny areas and shady areas. However, each pool are has only two lounge chairs, so we brought our beach chairs each time. Each pool area does have a covered seating section with tables and chairs if you wanted to eat, and restrooms. At the top of the resort, near the guard gate, is a mini putt course, and tennis courts. At the far end of the resort, there was a large grassy field if you wanted to play soccer or something, a sand volleyball court, some basketball half-courts, and then the locked gate to the beach. You must have a key to access the beach. The beach is fairly nice, about 100 yards wide. There are lots of shady areas, and lots of sun. The water is fairly clear, only a few rocks but they are farther out so aren't really a problem. We stayed in a second floor condo. It had three bedrooms, and two baths. The baths are very small so I could see it being tight if you had six people staying in your condo. They have nice size kitchens, a dining area and then a TV area, plus a very nice outdoor patio. Every condo comes with assigned parking spaces. When you first check in, they put a wristband on you at the guard gate. You must wear the wristband the entire time you stay, which was a little annoying, but those are the rules. There is a convenience store and one or two restaurants right outside of the resort, but otherwise you will need to drive. Ralphs, a large grocery store, is a 10 to 15 minute drive to the east. You can get to the kiosk is in Luquillo in about 15 to 20 minutes, and can get to Fajardo in 30 to 40 minutes. From the resort to old San Juan, it is a 30 to 40 minute drive. We liked the resort a great deal, the landscaping is beautiful, the pools were great, and felt it was a great jumping off point to do a lot of sightseeing while in Puerto Rico. I would definitely recommend it if you were interested in staying on the east side of the island.

The people here are so accommodating; they have 3 restaurants on the property and they are all equally good. from formal to casual you can't go wrong eating at any of them. i'm a marriott member and had some points that i used for one night and im happy i took advantage of it. unfortunately they are converting the property to a 4 seasons and it will be far more expensive to stay here. The st. regis operates like a luxury hotel should. i would give it 10 stars if i could. i used the spa facilities and the massages we got were first notch. and jesselyn was a great nature guide that took us around the property. we are sad to be leaving.

For all that this St Regis offers, the website does a terrible job of showcasing it. So here goes!…read more For kids There is an animal shelter with dogs and cats and specialist who will educate you about the animals. There is a small farm with goats to feed. My young kids were delighted with this. There is a boathouse area with free kayaking, standup paddle boarding and inflatable playground. This boathouse also offers more high-tech water sports equipment for rent. For families There are adult bikes and children's bikes on the resort that are complementary. There are golf carts that take you from one area to another as everything is pretty spread out. For example, from the main gate to the hotel is a little less than a mile. Only two free breakfast are included with Marriott status. So if you are traveling with kids, you have to pay $22 plus tip for their breakfast every morning. They have a few sand toys to share out on the beach. The large pool area does have Shallow parts for children. For adults The beach here is gorgeous though setback many yards from the hotel. The pool does not have an adult only area that I know of. There is a nice but small hot tub. You have access to all of the spa amenities every day as a guest here. There is a small gym next to the spa and a larger gym called the wellness center which is about Half a mile from the main area. Food issues The main issue here as many other of viewers have stated is the lack of decent food selection. Sea grapes is decent but only open until 5 PM. Paro gets terrible reviews and is excessively overpriced Mediterranean food. However, an Uber from the hotel to Rio Grande is not expensive around $10 and they are good restaurants, but you must do your own research. I recommend Los kioskos de luquillo Which have many food options and it is basically a beach party scene better for adult adults than kids. Service and butler service overall were spotty. We were given incorrect information multiple times. Don't forget to take a ton of cash to tip-wish they would include this in the final bill. Loved the ocean view, comfy beds, and spacious bathroom. Overall a nice stay and would consider coming back if the food options improved a bit!
