This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a retreat in the city of San Juan. It was…read moreabsolutely beautiful to wake up to the waves crashing every day and having coffee on the beach each morning. The vibe: cool, trendy, laid back. The restaurant: gorgeous décor, mostly great food, delicious drinks right on the beach at your lounge chair! The staff: all very friendly - I especially loved Joanit and Aminda, who made me feel at home! The service: very good except when I asked for a bowl for my dog, they refused. They said they only have outside bowls for the beach that can't be used inside the hotel rooms? Also they didn't want to give me a bowl from the restaurant initially, but then a staff member helped me out later. The location: in the gated community of Ocean Park, adjacent to the trendy neighborhoods of Santurce and Condado. A quick Uber ride can bring you to Old San Juan and Ubers arrived within 5 minutes from my experience. The rooms: honestly, nothing special. The cleaning could have been a bit more thorough getting the nooks and crannies. I was glad to stay in an interior room, as I wanted quiet. If you stayed in a beach-facing room, you could hear the music from the restaurant below. I loved that the room came with free lounge chair rentals on the beach. I also loved that wifi instructions and free snacks and drinks were in the room upon arrival. I did not love that there wasn't a hair dryer in the room. The A/C was powerful and kept the room cool. One thing that was a bit surprising was that the power went off multiple times one night. The first time was at about 9pm and the room went pitch black, which was kind of scary. I was searching for my phone flashlight, but the power came back on about 30 seconds later. This happened again at 2am. The internet in the room was good for streaming initially, but after the power outage, the internet cut out about every 10 minutes. Overall, I had a great experience and I would definitely come back!

We had the unpleasant experience to discover last call for food order 6:30pm. When I shared my displeasure with the manager she said the hours had changed. I pointed out that the QRCodes on ALL the tables went yo website that said 8pm. ...and the printed menus said 8pm and yhe only reason we found out that 6:30pm was latest to order food was we happened to be at the beach next to building to hear "last call" times. Everyone at hotel stated that website and printed menus were out of date....no obvious signs stated different hours. Manager very aloof, but sh did take the qrcodes off the tables...printed menus and website still wrong. We encountered another couple who ordered food at last call. They were very unhappy that food served was cold and did not have any condiments. Next issue there is only street parking...we had to park .75 miles away from motel. Concerns about safety of leaving car on street overnight.

Real Puerto Rico experience! $3 Uber ride from La Placita and $8 Uber ride from Old San Juan. Owner went above and beyond to be sure I was happy (upgrade to room with balcony!!) after a mixup with my reservation, not only alleviating my frustration but made me so so happy for the rest of the trip. Insanely cheap too. I can't imagine staying anywhere but here if I return to PR.

We had a few ups and downs at the Andalucia that I will go through for your consideration!…read more The good: -The owners were VERY friendly and helpful. They were always there to give us toilet paper when we ran out and answer our questions. We didn't get to see them much since we were out and about, but the few times we did they were delightful. -There was a delicious restaurant (Kasalta) and beach (Ocean Park Beach) within walking distance. -Though the area wasn't the best, the gates all locked and only the guest had a key to unlock the gates and enter the premesis. -The rooms and beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. -The hot tub was delightful, warm, and a great place to relax. The not so good: -The area was a little sketchy. People hanging out on street corners and playing loud music all night. -The air coniditioning was a bit TOO cold, even when we had the knob switched to "off". But I'm sure if you just ask them to help with making this more comfortable, they will. -There was limited parking and one time, we had to park a block down on the sketchy, dark street. The other nights though, we got there just in time to see another guest pulling out so we could take their spots. Overall, we liked this guest house a lot. The area does seem a little scary, but right down the street a few miles is San Cristobal and Old San Juan. It is also very close to its own little beach. If you stay here you must eat at Kasalta and get one of the delicious sandwiches and a sweet treat too!

Hands down, this was the best stay I've ever had at a rental, hostel, or hotel!…read more I booked here for four nights on a recent vacation with my significant other -- The space is excellent. It is very clean and beautifully decorated. I loved the tile designs in the bathroom and kitchen. We tried out two different units during our stay and loved both. The neighborhood is just perfect. You are a 3-minute walk from the beach and surrounded by some of the town's best coffee, food, and drink options. The street art is lovely. It feels like a city, not just a resort. Safe to walk around, both day and night. You can hear the frogs chirping at night. The management is the best. The owner was very prompt and helpful in answering questions before our stay and setting up the shuttle from the airport. She picked us up right after our flight landed, and I loved chatting with her on the way to our place. At one point, the water went out in our apartment, and someone was over to help in less than 5 minutes and fixed it immediately. I'm convinced this is the best spot to stay in San Juan. Book it now: you'll thank yourself when you're in PR!

No back-packers, no bro-tourists, no frou-frou elites. Sound carries since the windows are traditional (shutter-style, never seal all the way) and you can often hear someone blasting cuban salsa or some meringue in the background. But this is only during certain times of day and adds atmosphere. There was only one small window air conditioning unit in the bedroom but it chilled the sleeping area down right and proper for the night. During the day the place could get pretty toasty but you shouldn't be sitting on yer bum inside anyway! One of my favorite parts of this place was the little courtyard lush with plants and all the roaming friendly cats (don't tell my own feline I cavorted with others whilst away!). The inside is cozy but fairly barebones. The tile detailing is awesome. The bedding left a little to be desired. Parking was easy peasy. The manager on site was a 30-something man with a Spanish-language accent (Spanish or pr'ican, I couldn't tell). Super friendly and helpful without getting all up in your business. Having a male peer of mine do my laundry was a touch awkward, though, I'm not going to lie (and I usually have no shame). Oh, which means that yes, there is on-site laundry. This isn't super swanky but it feels like a special getaway. I'd come back here in a heart beat.

Do not stay here if you are vegan and unless you have read multiple reviews for a specific room…read more This place was made by an owner who wanted a certain aesthetic but didn't care about the well being of his guests. We stayed here and splurged for what supposed to have a private bath, but discovered that it was on the front porch without covering so anyone waiting at the entrance for an uber could see easily in. They had a couple curtains but none in front of it which meant people from street could see in. We complained and asked if they could either give us a partial refund or even just get some removable hooks from a hardware store and put a sheet so people couldn't say in and they said no the owner would not like the aesthetics and would not be available to approve it. After much pestering they did give us free breakfast/free tour but it was honestly very upsetting and distressing to have been waiting for this great special room and then realize we couldn't full use it. The other thing is they advertise as vegetarian, vegan friendly which was great because I prefer to eat vegan when possible. The first day they had a vegan oatmeal that was good but by the second day their vegan menu had literally nothing with protein and by the third and fourth day it just had toast with veggies, which is something I could have gotten at any restaurant or hotel. They are not in the middle of nowhere, there are stores nearby and the manager also drives to visit their other properties. It's not that hard to have tofu or peanut butter or can of lentils that don't expire for months and you can continuously replace. I was so excited to support a veg establishment and feel bad I have to give it this review, but I want to protect full vegans.
