It was…read moreabsolutely beautiful to wake up to the waves crashing every day and having coffee on the beach each morning. The vibe: cool, trendy, laid back. The restaurant: gorgeous décor, mostly great food, delicious drinks right on the beach at your lounge chair! The staff: all very friendly - I especially loved Joanit and Aminda, who made me feel at home! The service: very good except when I asked for a bowl for my dog, they refused. They said they only have outside bowls for the beach that can't be used inside the hotel rooms? Also they didn't want to give me a bowl from the restaurant initially, but then a staff member helped me out later. The location: in the gated community of Ocean Park, adjacent to the trendy neighborhoods of Santurce and Condado. A quick Uber ride can bring you to Old San Juan and Ubers arrived within 5 minutes from my experience. The rooms: honestly, nothing special. The cleaning could have been a bit more thorough getting the nooks and crannies. I was glad to stay in an interior room, as I wanted quiet. If you stayed in a beach-facing room, you could hear the music from the restaurant below. I loved that the room came with free lounge chair rentals on the beach. I also loved that wifi instructions and free snacks and drinks were in the room upon arrival. I did not love that there wasn't a hair dryer in the room. The A/C was powerful and kept the room cool. One thing that was a bit surprising was that the power went off multiple times one night. The first time was at about 9pm and the room went pitch black, which was kind of scary. I was searching for my phone flashlight, but the power came back on about 30 seconds later. This happened again at 2am. The internet in the room was good for streaming initially, but after the power outage, the internet cut out about every 10 minutes. Overall, I had a great experience and I would definitely come back!

Real Puerto Rico experience! $3 Uber ride from La Placita and $8 Uber ride from Old San Juan. Owner went above and beyond to be sure I was happy (upgrade to room with balcony!!) after a mixup with my reservation, not only alleviating my frustration but made me so so happy for the rest of the trip. Insanely cheap too. I can't imagine staying anywhere but here if I return to PR.

We had a few ups and downs at the Andalucia that I will go through for your consideration!…read more The good: -The owners were VERY friendly and helpful. They were always there to give us toilet paper when we ran out and answer our questions. We didn't get to see them much since we were out and about, but the few times we did they were delightful. -There was a delicious restaurant (Kasalta) and beach (Ocean Park Beach) within walking distance. -Though the area wasn't the best, the gates all locked and only the guest had a key to unlock the gates and enter the premesis. -The rooms and beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. -The hot tub was delightful, warm, and a great place to relax. The not so good: -The area was a little sketchy. People hanging out on street corners and playing loud music all night. -The air coniditioning was a bit TOO cold, even when we had the knob switched to "off". But I'm sure if you just ask them to help with making this more comfortable, they will. -There was limited parking and one time, we had to park a block down on the sketchy, dark street. The other nights though, we got there just in time to see another guest pulling out so we could take their spots. Overall, we liked this guest house a lot. The area does seem a little scary, but right down the street a few miles is San Cristobal and Old San Juan. It is also very close to its own little beach. If you stay here you must eat at Kasalta and get one of the delicious sandwiches and a sweet treat too!

I had been dreaming about staying here for years and I FINALLY made it happen. As a vegetarian, I…read moream very grateful that this hotel exists. It is very close to the airport and everything else in San Juan. If you plan to stay mostly in San Juan you could get away with just ubering but we did rent a car. There is not lot but we had no problem finding street parking for the week that we stayed. We stayed in the Muse room. To be honest, this was expensive and more than I would have liked to spend but the hotel was so good it was worth it. You are a block from the beach and they provide beach towels and chairs. We did two beach days near the hotel and it was honestly perfect. The beach is amazing, very blue even though it's in the city. I felt perfectly safe walking around this area. It is technically in a gated community so it is very nice. Right outside the gated area are a bunch of restaurants. The food at dreamcatcher was also very good. They provide free coffee every morning and then pay as you go food from 8am-1pm. Everything I ate was very delicious. The menu changes frequently so if you see something that sounds good, get it! My favorite thing was the tofu huevos rancheros. It was incredible. They serve a dinner on Friday nights that was $65pp but we skipped to try some other things. The courtyard is also very cute, great place to get pictures and sit back and relax. I can't wait to come back. Puerto Rico has my heart!

Do not stay here if you are vegan and unless you have read multiple reviews for a specific room…read more This place was made by an owner who wanted a certain aesthetic but didn't care about the well being of his guests. We stayed here and splurged for what supposed to have a private bath, but discovered that it was on the front porch without covering so anyone waiting at the entrance for an uber could see easily in. They had a couple curtains but none in front of it which meant people from street could see in. We complained and asked if they could either give us a partial refund or even just get some removable hooks from a hardware store and put a sheet so people couldn't say in and they said no the owner would not like the aesthetics and would not be available to approve it. After much pestering they did give us free breakfast/free tour but it was honestly very upsetting and distressing to have been waiting for this great special room and then realize we couldn't full use it. The other thing is they advertise as vegetarian, vegan friendly which was great because I prefer to eat vegan when possible. The first day they had a vegan oatmeal that was good but by the second day their vegan menu had literally nothing with protein and by the third and fourth day it just had toast with veggies, which is something I could have gotten at any restaurant or hotel. They are not in the middle of nowhere, there are stores nearby and the manager also drives to visit their other properties. It's not that hard to have tofu or peanut butter or can of lentils that don't expire for months and you can continuously replace. I was so excited to support a veg establishment and feel bad I have to give it this review, but I want to protect full vegans.
