It was a 10 minute drive to Old San Juan, 8 minutes drive to Walmart, 8 minutes to the Mall, and walking distance to a grocery store/ gas station. Location was great. The room was basic. It had a full size bed, night stand, and maybe a 30 inch tv. There was a small closet (no door) to hang some things Bathroom was tight but everything worked. The A/C worked great! There was 3 of us in that room (two adults, one child) which made it an uncomfortable sleeping situation. I would 100% recommend this hotel if you don't need anything fancy, looking for a cheap place and there's only 2 of you. 3 is definitely a crowd! David at the front desk was really nice as well as everyone I ran into. The reason for it missing a star is because you can't get out the lobby door unless you have a key. So if I did a coffee run in the morning and there was an emergency, and my wife and kid had to leave the hotel, They would have to break the window on the door just to get out because I have the key to open the lobby door. Or even if there was no emergency and I went out with my friends in the morning for breakfast and my wife and kid were going to meet me later, they couldn't because there's no one there to let them out of the lobby. I think they should upgrade their door system where you can just push or turn something to get out of the lobby, but need a key to get back inside like a normal hotel. All in all, Puerto Rico was great and we'll be back! Also, must mention.... I didn't see not one bug or mosquito in our room. However, in the 9 days, we did see two in the lobby (dead or dying) and a small lizard.

She was great when I first emailed her and she responded quickly. I had some general questions before we went on our trip and she was always very helpful and answered them quickly through email. When driving to the apartment we were a little leery of the area near this neighborhood, but when we arrived we found that it was a nice gated community in San Juan. I am not a fan of San Juan at all, it tends to be a little to scary for me. However I felt completely fine staying in this apartment, actually I loved it! She met us at the key box and showed us around and let us know all the good places to eat and go in the area. She was very helpful! About the apartment, the patio was amazing and I found fresh limes every day, the bed was a normal bed that we slept fine on. My son slept on the pull out futon and was fine each night. IT was very clean, we never even saw bugs or anything. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, also dishes and silverware. There was a fridge and a microwave and also a coffee pot. During our 5 night stay, Carina texted us to say good morning a few times and gave us info on the weather and how the beach was looking. She also helped me a lot through texting whenever I was lost or had a question, this is very much above her responsibility but she was so welcoming I felt like I could talk to her easily throughout our stay and she was always there to answer my texts. She even called a few pizza places when I asked her who delivered, to find out, that was so nice! This apartment is right down the road from the beach and also the busiest road for restaurants, everything was in walking distance, although I was a little freaked at night, we were always safe. Theres also a 24 hour supermarket right down the road, so that was nice. I highly recommend this property if you are staying in San Juan!!

Unbeatable location steps from the Ocean Park beach, cool places to eat, and a close ride to the airport. Carina and Maria are lovely hosts, giving us great suggestions for our stay and making us feel quite welcomed. The accommodations are clean, freshly and simply appointed, and it was really easy to book, check in and out, and park at the facilities. This place offers an awesome island city life experience and great value.

Only booked this because it was last minute and because of the low price for a major holiday…read moreweekend. Otherwise, I would have booked a beachfront hotel like I usually do when visiting Puerto Rico. The location isn't bad. It's about a 15-minute walk from the beach and pretty close to lots of places to eat. There are motorized scooters within close proximity to get around. My problem is with the hostel itself. It's poorly designed and needs a serious update. Some of the staff live on site and most of them are friendly (with the exception of the older white guy who must always say something with regards to the hostel's "rules" which they loosely follow to begin with). After 10 pm the rooftop is supposed to close until the next day because of a noise ordinance to be respectful of neighbors. The old white guy made sure to tell us at around 10:30 pm that the rooftop was closed whereas the other staff members didn't bother us because we were super quiet. However, the second floor/kitchen area was loud with music and college drinking games going on. We opted for a room with a double bed and private bathroom. The only good parts about the room were the comfy bed and hot shower. You can tell that they just threw this private room together. The toilet is placed in an awkward position so if you're taller than 5'5" good luck! The communal kitchen didn't have a microwave which was odd as most hostels I've stayed in does. It has a small stove/heating counter but no microwave. Weird! Good luck with getting good sleep too! Between the noise from fellow hostelers/staff and the constant loud construction during the day by construction workers on top of nearby houses, you won't get any. It was a pure nuisance. Skip this hostel and stay elsewhere.

The property is absolutely DISGUSTING (l'm literally calling…read morethe health department today) cockroaches roam free in every room I stayed in (3 different rooms), black mold all over the walls and ceiling (I have photos), the old woman that goes by "Wasabi" (even though she is not of Asian decent... kinda racist if you ask me) literally got in my friends face (whom has a mental disability) and screamed at her "are you som sort of F*cking r*tard" all because she put trash in the wrong trash can, if I EVER said anything like that to ANY paying guest at my job I'd expect to be immediately fired, this woman is the manager mother and so of course she did nothing even when it was brought directly to her, and again my friend does have a mental disability and calling someone with a mental disability a "f*king r*tard" is clear discrimination and intimidation. Then the employee with dread locks (I forget his name) has such a nasty attitude and literally glare at me constantly, I'm pretty sure he's homophobic as I was the only gay guest at the time and he did not like me from the get go. Yesterday I asked this employee for a first aid kit because I was injured while on the property, I could see the first aide kit in the office literally right behind him and he said they didn't have one (even though they are legally required to provide them when asked) was not provided with a first aide kit until I brought these issues to the attention of the owners via text (I know them personally). Also it's not just the rooms that are disgusting the kitchen is fowl and reeks like cat poop and pee, as did my private "court yard" so badly intact I could not bear to actually utilize the court yard, but the entire hostel is nasty and Ben the outside, I'm currently sitting next to a pile of cigarette butts and an old bear that is literally covered in mold (again I have pictures). So sad I used to TRULY LOVE this place and have been here 4 times in the past, it's truly the new management that has ruined this once great place!

You'd wake up and you'd find water in the guest bedroom all over the floor, behind the dresser and into the hallway. The toilets were at least 10 inches off the ground- you had to hike just to sit down with your legs dangling if you are shorter than 5'2". The building was a bit dilapidated on one side. But the view was gorgeous. It overlooks the lagoon of sorts that lead right into the ocean. It was nice. Elevator ride to the 9th floor proved to be acceptable and always in working order. It was centrally located right in the heart of Condado which made it accessible to all the night life in the strip in San Juan, PR. I guess for the money it was not that bad- it could sleep up to 6 people. Wifi was provided but the signal often went out in several occasions. There was a kitchen and a washer and dryer that helped with the soaked towels that we used to clean up the water day after day. Finally we just turned it off in the 90 degree weather and let the evening cross breeze flow from the unit thru the sliding glass windows. The other thing I found amusing is that there was construction drilling in the next door apartment. So during the morning you could hear the drill grinding into the cement floors. Summary This place has a lot of potential. There was some issues with water and construction as they are hopefully getting the condo units up to sped with the rest of the area. Would I stay again? Yes, under a negotiated price.

They were always there to give us toilet paper when we ran out and answer our questions. We didn't get to see them much since we were out and about, but the few times we did they were delightful. -There was a delicious restaurant (Kasalta) and beach (Ocean Park Beach) within walking distance. -Though the area wasn't the best, the gates all locked and only the guest had a key to unlock the gates and enter the premesis. -The rooms and beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. -The hot tub was delightful, warm, and a great place to relax. The not so good: -The area was a little sketchy. People hanging out on street corners and playing loud music all night. -The air coniditioning was a bit TOO cold, even when we had the knob switched to "off". But I'm sure if you just ask them to help with making this more comfortable, they will. -There was limited parking and one time, we had to park a block down on the sketchy, dark street. The other nights though, we got there just in time to see another guest pulling out so we could take their spots. Overall, we liked this guest house a lot. The area does seem a little scary, but right down the street a few miles is San Cristobal and Old San Juan. It is also very close to its own little beach. If you stay here you must eat at Kasalta and get one of the delicious sandwiches and a sweet treat too!
