Since the sale of the restaurant, the flavor and quantity of the food has diminished and we miss not having a small salad that used to be included with the entree. The bread sticks now have very little flavor...they are missing a generous amount of garlic and cheese. Go back to the bread that the previous owner served. read more

The food is not the best Italian we've had. The breadsticks are truly pathetic. The oil used to dip the bread in was untasty and bland. Certainly not a quality olive oil. We started the meal with calamari, which was lightly breaded (which is great) but in general the calamari were tough and rubbery. They should be sweet and tender. The sauce that came with the calamari was good. The Italian salad was a lnice mix of field greens and Kalamata olives with a tiny amount of shaved Parmesan and a pepperoncino. The meatballs are very "breadie", hence not good. The worst part they were served without sauce on top so they were grey and unappealing. Seriously...why? The wine list is good. Two of us had the mixed cheese Ravi's....with red sauce and they were tasty. One in our party had the stuffed shells with mixed fish which he enjoyed. Our fourth had a dish with white mushroom sauce which she really enjoyed. We all shared the lemonchello cake which was tasty. Our server was quite nice and friendly. The ambience was lovely. We sat outside under the grape arbors. Very Nice. In general the food was acceptable but not stellar for the reasons cited. read more

This is such a quaint place with an intimate feel. My server was great and she clearly knew what she was doing. Interacting and joking with guests that engaged with her but could clearly see that I wasn't looking to chat much and only visited as much as she needed to. The food used to be SO good! The waitress was super kind but the Chicken Toscana was so gross I couldn't eat it. I tried to scrape the sauce off the chicken and it was still really gross. It had one note and one flavor- bland. No garlic, no lemon, no nothing. I asked the waitress to let them know and she offered to take it off the bill (which was extremely kind). Absolutely no complaints at all with this restaurant. We decided to stop on the way home from Mt Pleasant and a fun round of golf, certainly glad we did. We shared an antipasto salad, lasagna, and tiramisu for dessert. All items were excellent as was the warm bread served prior to our entree. Courteous service was provided by Mary Lynn who mentioned that her parents have owned and operated the place for 42 plus years. Great to see a nice family run Italian restaurant serving up quality food. We will visit this place another time for sure. read more

It was their restaurant in the Eastlawn Plaza that we went to and our boys had to match Pap pap bite for bite on his favorite pepperoni pizza!! I have the manicotti and it was so-so. I went with a large party of people and nobody seemed to be blown away by the food one way or another. The dinner rolls tasted store bought and plain. One good thing is that the glass of wine they poured me was generous. I wish I knew the names of the waitresses who served us, because one was great and the other one had a bad attitude. When we asked if our bills could be split, she made a big deal out of it and said she'd have to call her boss out to re-do the whole bill. read more

Bruschetta appetizer was delicious with fresh tomatoes, basil, and pepper! In the summer their vegetable garden at the front entrance is full of growing tomatoes and eggplant, herbs. Entree comes with fresh crispy salad and dinner rolls. Frutti di mare (think that's the name of the seafood pasta I usually get) is good enough. We were a party of three on a mid-week night and the restaurant had only a few tables with guests...a slow night. I had dined here a few times before and knew that the star's of the menu were the antipasto appetizer and the lamb shank, both of which are excellent (other than that the antipasto comes with a soft crust bread that would NEVER be served in a true Italian restaurant. I normally get the lamb shank and am never disappointed, but this time I went for the breast of chicken "special" served with string beans, fettuccini pasta and a lot of some kind of white sauce. The antipasto was not as good as in the past (olives were not quite right and the tiny cheese chunks were just too small, should have been slices...and the soft-crust bread, of course), but still good and plenty for the three of us. My entree was...a poor choice. It was served warm instead of hot, the chicken breast was dry and over-cooked, and the sauce was very heavy, but otherwise nondescript. It was just heavy and "there", but certainly not appetizing or flavorful. The string beans were OK. The (very good) waitress asked how our meals were and I told her about the dry chicken and she offered to bring out another, but I passed (if a kitchen cannot do a chicken breast right, on a slow night, first try, why should I think the second try would be any better?) Oh...and I had the salmon chowder with my entree, as an experiment (other choice was chicken soup). It was OK, but strongly reminded me canned salmon. Should have gone of the chicken soup or a salad. We'll be back to D'alessandro's, but from now on I stick to the reliable lamb shank. (My wife has tried several other dishes, in the past, and never liked any of them, but she was spoiled by our visits to Italy.) Finally, service was excellent. read more

The brushetta app that we got was so good- huge marinated chunks of tomato on toasted bread. one portion was huge enough for us to all sample. I got the Cannonelli stuffed pasta. The two huge tubes of pasta were filled with 4 cheeses and ground beef. It was delicious. Sauce was so good that I couldn't help but polish it off with their warm bread. This place must literally never be open. I've tried to go here 5 different times during normal restaurant hours and it's always been closed.

We've eaten here several times, as a couple and with friends, and we really like it. The restaurant is much nicer than it appears from the freeway -- it's in a rather indusrial-looking building, but it's planted on two sides with all manner of trees, shrubs, vines, vegetables, flowers, and offers outdoor seating in the summer; it really is reminiscent of Italy. (Last year we were charmed to eat our meal next to a window covered, on the outside, with vining red yard-long beans -- very unusual and beautiful.) We have enjoyed dishes like eggplant parmesan and frutti di mare here...I also loved the cannoli. Nice wine list. Our servers have been very friendly and professional.
