It was time for me to dye my hair, and I showed Yuni and Izzy the color I wanted. They truly went above and beyond to make it happen! From the consultation to the dyeing process, the relaxing hair massage, and all the way to the end, everything felt smooth and well-organized. They work quickly but still pay attention to detail, which I really appreciated. There's also plenty of parking, which makes it even more convenient. I can't say enough good things about Amazing Cuts and Lyda, the owner. She is genuinely one of the…read morekindest, most positive people you will ever meet. Not only is she an incredible human, but her haircuts are always absolutely dialed in. She truly cares about her work and takes her time to make sure the final result is perfect every single visit. My brother is also a barber, but he lives too far away for me to see regularly. When we moved to the Long Beach/Lakewood area, I started searching for someone local--and my brother told me the mark of a truly excellent barber is consistency: being able to deliver a great haircut every single time. Before I found Lyda, I tried other barbers where the cut would turn out differently from visit to visit (even with the same person), and I was never fully happy with the results. Lyda is the opposite--she's consistent, detail-oriented, and the results are solid every time. Honestly, the shop should be called Exceptional Cuts because that's exactly what she delivers. Lyda consistently goes the extra mile to make sure her clients are happy, comfortable, and confident when they leave. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does and truly cares about her clients. I always leave feeling great, and seeing her genuinely makes my entire day better. I'm grateful for the attention, care, and pride she puts into her work. I've been going to Lyda for over two years now, and I can't imagine trusting anyone else with my hair. My wife also comes to see Lyda and feels the exact same way--she's the best. Unfortunately, my experience this past Tuesday was extremely disappointing. My appointment was scheduled for 3:00 pm. I arrived on time, but there was no one at the front desk, and a few stylists assumed I was a walk-in. The stylist who was supposed to do my pixie cut was still with another client, blow-drying her sopping wet bob-length hair, and didn't acknowledge me for quite a while. When he finally did, he said he would be finished in 15 minutes. I told him if it would take longer, I would rather not wait, especially since I had driven 35 minutes from Orange County (one way). I left briefly and came back at 3:15 pm, but he was still with the same client. A professional would have communicated a delay and respected the client's time. By 3:21 pm, when I decided to leave, he was still styling her hair with no end in sight. Meanwhile, another employee attempted to divert me by offering a shampoo. She handed me a robe that was far too small and insisted I wear it, even though I explained I didn't mind hair falling on my clothes since I was going to the gym afterward. I also mentioned my long drive, and she responded with an insincere comment about how "beautiful" the 91 freeway is--something that felt dismissive and patronizing. As she led me to the shampoo area, she rolled her eyes and made faces to a coworker. At that point, I stood up, told her not to make faces, and informed the stylist I was canceling my appointment. The entire atmosphere felt unprofessional and immature--more like a schoolyard than a salon. There was no customer service, no apology, and no manager present to address the situation. I genuinely feel bad for the salon owner, who may not even be aware of how poorly NEW clients are being treated.
