The toppings honestly on the pizza look like the ones I used to put on My Easy-Bake oven when I was a little girl. My man actually had to show me the mushrooms because I didn't think there was any on there. The garlic rolls were worse than the ones that I get from the frozen food section at the grocery store and a lot less flavor. I actually deconstructed the buffalo chicken roll because I don't particularly like peppers so I took the whole thing apart and there was one little piece of chicken in each roll with the rest being cabbage and peppers. It wasn't good to put it mildly. The sauce was actually pretty good for the pizza but the toppings didn't taste very good and it just was very bland. I believe we ate three out of six pieces and we sent the rest to the trash. Its average for me. The monkey bites dessert was actually good so they get a third star for that. Im good. The Best-o-Pesto might be my wife's favorite as it features a pesto base with spinach, feta cheese and tomato. My favorite is the BBQ Chicken, which is certainly not unique to them, but they do it very well. But one that is growing on us is the Sieler Special, which has a white sauce base with goat cheese and honey. This is a unique option which provides a nice change of pace. We've also tried the Greek Pizza with white onion and gyro meat topped with lettuce, tomato, feta cheese, black olives and a side of tzatziki sauce. It tastes great but it does not warm up very well with the lettuce on top. So for me, it's not the best choice if you don't have enough people to eat it all at the first sitting. Dempsey's is also great for sweet treats. Check the front case when you walk in to see what's available that particular day. The cake balls are a favorite as are the roll-ups. We usually do take-out these days when getting food from Dempsey's but that's just by circumstance. We've eaten in also. Their dining area is small but the tables by the big storefront window are particularly nice for eating in, as are the two or three tables on their sidewalk patio in nice weather. My experience is that the service at Dempsey's has always been reasonably good as the people working there are polite and pleasant. The prices are well in line with expectations for the type of fare, making it a very good value in my estimation. The downtown location could, at times, present a small problem with regard to street parking, particularly on theater nights. But there is also a large-ish lot in back of their building off Church St. It is not quite as convenient but it is still very usable. Dempsey's will continue to be our primary go-to place for pizza. It's a great option, we enjoy the fare we get from there and we are happy to support a local business.

Item 2: Regardless of what you call it, I love this place, and have since the 1970s. This place is a little neighborhood hole-in-the-wall, and I don't think the decor has changed since the 1970s (literally). Who says that's a bad thing? GYROs: Bottom line is that this is some of the BEST tasting gyro meat I've ever eaten. Period. It's flavored to perfection, and cooked to juicy yet crisp perfection, also. I have no idea what spices they add to the lamb/beef mixture (nutmeg? cumin? cinnamon?) but it has a unique and delicious flavor. This is the first place where, as a little kid, I ever ate a gyro, and they still make one of the best. (Not that my ethnic background matters, but I am Greek, and I've eaten a lot of gyros in a lot of cities and countries). If this is not the best, it's damned close to it. The chicken kabobs are excellent too. When I feel like eating something with more protein and less fat, this is my go to. These are fantastically seasoned and grilled perfectly every time. They come with rice or fries, and some veggies. The Greek salads are next level. They are large, well presented, well put together, and come with a BIG ASS SLAB of feta cheese. The homemade Greek dressing is not the best I have ever had, but it is more than serviceable. Pizza? Oh yeah, the pizza.... J & G,s thin crust pizza is also excellent. The flavor of the sauce is more traditional than what you will find at Amie's or Gino's, and therefore, may appeal to a wider range of tastes. I'd stick with the more basic toppings. To drink, they have milk and pop for the kids, and beer and wine for the adults. In case you haven't guessed, their wine list includes retsina and mavrodaphne. Obviously, as the place is also Upside Brewing, they have a pretty nice selection of beer. Upside has a few taps, and multiple taps from other local and regional brew houses are available. They do get busy, but we've never had unacceptably slow or rude service.
