These guys rock !! I can't live without my piano. It has a gorgeous black lacquer. They moved it twice for me and it doesn't have a scratch. Moved it into my home when I purchased it and then into my new home when I recently moved. The movers says they "could handle" the piano, nope. Worth hiring experts It's home and was handled so beautifully and gently by these big guys. The way they work and communicate as a team is impressive. Stand back --stay clear and let them do what they do so well. I trust them implicitly with my piano. read more

Viking Piano Movers - Piano Services Near Me - San Rafael, California

Very impressed with Viking Piano Movers! I have worked with three different recommended piano movers in the last 18months, due to relocations including the Sonoma fires, Mark and Tom, from Viking, stood out from their professionalism, coordination, and seemingly ease of move with my Steinway Model B (almost 7'). They maneuvered her from a cramped rental home into our new house without any issues. They were pleasant, great with communications leading up to our move date, professional and reasonably priced. Their custom made metal circular brace that helped offload the weight on one piano leg when bringing the piano back into the horizontal position was ingenuous. Highly recommended for fine piano moves. read more

I had a difficult piano move from my home's upper level to my lower level. There were a couple of tight turns to take, so I was concerned to find someone who knows what they are doing with our baby grand. Mark from Viking was great about coming to look at the job prior to quoting a price. He was very responsive regarding scheduling, showed up on time, and did the tricky move quickly and professionally. I felt very taken care of, which seems very rare any more! 5 stars. read more

i would give Mark and Viking Piano Movers 6 stars if i could! They did an excellent job moving my baby grand piano. They were on-time, professional, and friendly. I would recommend them to everyone! Call Mark, you won't be disappointed! read more

Viking Piano Movers were absolutely fantastic - I would highly recommend them to anyone! I had a very difficult move up several flights of outdoor wooden stairs, and the first general mover scheduled to do it was not properly equipped to actually do when they arrived. I called Mark from Viking after reading the great Yelp reviews, and he came the very same day with 2 wonderful guys, and moved my piano all the way to the top (and around a very tight turn) with great attitudes and a sense of humor the whole time. They are total pros, arrived exactly on time, and left the piano and stairs in perfect condition. I will definitely be calling them any time I need a piano moved. Viking is the best!! read more

The two guys that own and operate this business are absolute professionals. I've used them three times now and this last time was particularly tricky because it involved a super steep driveway, a number of stairs, and a very surly piano owner. They put everyone at ease, got the piano out of the other house and into my house with zero trouble or drama. They are just the sweetest guys and also know a ton about pianos from the many years they've been moving them. The piano they handled was a baby grand from 1930 and they highlighted an area of sensitivity in one of the leg joints for me, which I would have never been aware of otherwise. They also recommended placement within our music room for the best sound and protection for the piano. They were in and out super fast, protected my floors from dirt and cleaned up as if they were never even there. If I could give ten stars I would!!! read more

Mark and his partner are Absolute Over-achievers. We bought a piano in Marin County ( NO, not from a broker / dealer / or those faux institution charity events ) and needed to transport it to the South Bay. Most piano movers stopped answering their phones / replying to emails starting Wednesday afternoon but fortunately enough I was able to get a hold of Mark over thanksgiving weekend while he was on vacation. He was very courteous and professional and was able to give me a very fair quote (to my surprise cheaper than several generic furniture moving companies supposedly with piano moving expertise) once I gave him the piano model, pickup, and destination. He kept in touch over the weekend and was very efficient to coordinate with the seller regarding the pickup and kept me notified of his ETA. He and his partner were absolutely meticulous with handling the piano (strapped and on a purposely built pallet) and these guys are friendly and professional throughout. I absolutely will not hesitate to recommend them or use them for another move. read more

Mark and crew moved our 6'+ grand from san francisco to sonoma. Everything went great (sometimes its best not to watch ;-). He knows what he is doing, on time, personable and he suggested we play around with the piano in different locations. He moved it over the week end because of our schedule, others wanted us to be on call so they could gang it up with other moves, (which is understandable). Professional service, price was pretty much the same as 2 others I checked. I would recommend and use again. (Hi Mark, if you read these things) read more

I used these guys to move my Yamaha baby grand piano from our moving truck to our garage for storage. They arrived on time and were very personable. The job was minimal for them, but they took their time and made sure it was stored properly. I'll use them again when it's time to bring out of storage. read more

These guys are Awesome!!!!!!! They did an impeccable job!!!!!!! They were friendly, funny and knew exactly what they were doing!!!!! I would recommend them to anyone!!! So glad I didn't go with anyone else!!! If you care about your piano, there is no one else for the job!!!!! Thanks guys!!!!!! read more

5 giant stars for Mark and Doug! To start with, I am likely the worst kind of customer for these guys: First, I moved my date about four times and Mark was very understanding and professional each time. Second, I told him I had about 20 boxes to move, which end up being more like 100 once I had it all packed and ready. His only response was "a few more than 20 huh". :) He was great. A pleasure to spend the day around; moved my stuff flawlessly and in less time than we originally thought. Very reasonable pricing, easy to schedule and communicate with, all around it made my move easy and stress free. Highly recommended. read more

Our piano dates back to the 1800's. On two previous occasions we have had it moved. We wish we would have known about Viking Piano movers back then. These men really know what they are doing. They know pianos. They appreciate the instrument and the sentimental attachment one might have for a huge piece of musical furniture. They are professional in every sense of the term. They take very good care of your piano and equally good care of your home. Five stars isn't enough! read more

Mark and his crew were the only ones I could find who would move an early-20th-Century baby grand player piano from northeast Napa Valley to the East Bay. I was lucky they were so professional, friendly, and efficient. They were willing to make the move on a weekend, to negotiate narrow country roads, and to take apart the legs & pedals for reassembly at the destination. In the short time he was at my place, Mark managed to convey a lot of good advice on next steps for getting the piano repaired and tuned. I can't think of a single thing they could have done better. Well done! read more

Mark and Doug provided us with an outstanding service. Not only they were both professional, punctual and competent, but also truly enjoyed their work. Not many people can move a 500lb piano with a smile on their face! In addition to the piano, Mike and Doug helped us with the rest of the furniture and a number of boxes. Highly reascended. read more

These guys are real pros. They moved a relic from 1902 that was, in their own words, "the heaviest upright [they'd] ever seen." No damage done to either home nor to the beautiful instrument. They also waited patiently and held the piano on a dolly long enough for me to vacuum up all the cobwebs and give the back of the soundboard a thorough cleaning. Great service, friendly, fair pricing and near-immediate availability. I would use Mark and his crew again in a heartbeat and I would highly recommend their services to others. read more

Wow! I didn't know piano movers could be SO good. They were on time, cordial, very competent, knew just what they were doing and executed seamlessly. It's hard to describe just how easy they made moving a gorgeous Chickering baby grand piano. They had to pick up the piano from a friend who was donating it to a living group at Cal. Then they had to deliver it through Berkeley campus traffic . The House Director reported that they were delightful and in and out faster than she believed possible. Don't look any further. Viking is as good as it gets! read more

It's true. They're awesome. Bought a piano at Home Consignment and within two days these guys picked it up and delivered it to my home in San Rafael. I have a pretty easy entry so it was less than $500 which made me very happy. Stop searching. Call Viking. read more

THE best. My husband has lived in some strange, hard to access places, always with his piano and always with a view (meaning stairs and hills). He has used Viking Piano Movers to move his (extra heavy) piano each time. He could not speak more highly of them! And I can see why: professional, careful, considerate, family owned (?), super reasonably priced. Give 'em a good tip, these guys deserve it! read more

Viking Piano Movers - With fires up so close up North, we got an extra pair of helping hands for the day. Score! ;-) - Piano Services Near Me - San Rafael, California

I'll just add myself to the list of raves. Viking recently moved a Steinway upright from my apartment with narrow doors and wrong-way twisting hallways, down a further turing flight of inside stairs with railing, a landing, and yet more outside stairs with turns (a total of 49 steps). And they had to park their truck on the steep driveway. I thought I'd have to hire a piano technician to completely dismantle the piano, as this was done to bring it in 10 years ago, but no -- Viking was able to do it, carefully and with extraordinary good humor and communication among the movers. Not a scratch anywhere. They were astounding. All this, and they arrive on time for estimate and move. Viking is the best! read more

Great movers. They know what they are doing. That is all they move so I felt very confident with their service. Mark is very nice and accessible. read more

A real Class Act!!! I've had movers moving my piano for years. These guys moved my new baby grand piano from Windsor to Santa Rosa within like an hour!!!!!!!!!! No dents, no hussle, no HASSLE!!!! I love them and I wish I had more pianos for them to move! read more

Mark and his team were great!! My stairs were particularly tricky, and the guys made it work!!!! I am so happy with the piano, and especially their patience and customer service. Excellent!! I would definitely recommend them to anyone! read more

Viking came to our rescue when another piano mover canceled our appointment 4 hours before they were to show up. Ugh! Viking was willing to make arrangements to fit in our move at the last minute which really saved us a lot of headaches. I'm not saying they'll do this for you, and we did have to pay overtime since it was late in the day, but totally worth keeping our move on schedule. Thanks Viking for going the extra mile and saving the day! read more

Great crew that knows their way around a tough job.

Mark and his team were very efficient and friendly. They surely know how to move pianos but they also seem to love pianos which is I guess a reason why they are so careful with moving them. read more

Mark and his team were awesome! They said that this was a 9 out of 10 as far as difficulty, but they made it look like a 1. They really know what they're doing. I highly recommend them, and would use them again in a heartbeat! read more

Working with Mark was simple and easy. He was accessible by email and phone - and for a busy working mom, that's what I needed! He and just one other guy moved our grand piano up a flight of stairs, outside - then helped deliver it to an organization that we were donating the piano to. Mark was on time and always pleasant. The price was a bit higher than I had planned, but given my situation and my time crunch I would still do it over again. Give Mark a call! read more

I had a wonderful experience working with Mark and his helper Tom with a long distance move. My mother was relocating from Southern California to Marin and we needed to find a mover who would move her very valuable Steinway Piano in addition to a bunch of her furniture she wanted to move into self-storage. At first, I obtained estimates from many general movers who either were not insured enough or who just told me that I'd need to hire a separate piano mover to move the Steinway since it was a grand piano and considered a specialty item. We ended up choosing Mark because he was personable, easy to work with and get a hold of, responsive to emails and phone calls, and he quoted us a very reasonable price. Everything went smoothly and there is no doubt that we will be using him again in the future for when the piano comes out of storage. read more

Super impressed by courteous, helpful, fix-it attitude of the owner Mark. He was highly recommended to me when I called the place where I bought the piano. I just had a piano emergency where some movers had incorrectly put together my beautiful piano and it was incredibly unstable. Mark came by with a team in a flash, fixed the problem and he was incredibly helpful. He even dealt well with my guard dogs who nearly attacked him and his team. I am very thankful that I called and you did a great job in record time! That is the LAST time I have a general mover move my piano. My bad, Ishould have called Viking. read more

Not only was I satisfied by their service--and their price-- I was impressed by the tone of personal care "Mark" sincerely offered...in a new place and with a lot going on, he really made my day. read more

We had a (relatively) simple move of an upright piano. These guys showed up on time, moved it fast, everything was in perfect condition. Budget was awesome. What more can you ask for? They know what they are doing and do it well. read more

Sold a piano on craigslist and the buyer arranged for Viking Piano Movers to care of the lifting and all I can say is that they were AWESOME! On time, professional and respectful. Great job! read more

In a single word, the Viking Piano Movers are FANTASTIC! They are professional, courteous, responsive, show up on time, fast, friendly, and efficient. They were helpful and suggested placement of the piano in a more eye pleasing, space saving position. We couldn't ask for more and would highly recommend the Mark and Tom team, any day, all day. If you need a piano moved in the SF bay area, you need not look any further. These guys are the best. read more

Mark and his team were great. They showed up right on time to give us a quote several weeks before our move. The day of the move they arrived on time and carefully and professionally moved our Steinway L series from our current home to our new home. They were very tidy and meticulous in making sure our piano was well positioned and in tip top shape on our new home. I highly recommend them. They worked well as a team and made the move look easy although it certainly was not an easy move. read more

What do you do with a 600 pound gorilla? My piano, an old piano-player from a Chicago blues club, is sort of an antique and obviously weighs a ton. These guys were AWESOME! They took good care of my baby and got it across a dilapidated wooden porch and up to the new place being super careful not to bump into any walls. Then they toyed with it, making sure if was functioning OK. Please call them for any piano needs. Plus they are super-friendly! read more

I recommend Viking to anyone. Absolutely superb service! Mark and his colleague could not have been nicer. Mark responding very quickly to my request for quote. Price was great. They moved swiftly and professionally and were kind enough to let me take a few minutes to clean out all the dust and dirt in the back of the piano before placing it in its spot. read more

Recently Mark and his team at Viking movers have done a superb job moving our Yamaha upright from Marin County to Santa Clara. The piano had to be picked up and moved thru' a narrow door passage with stairs. Thru' smart planning and execution, Mark and team made this a scratch free and elegant move on-time. Mark is very easy to communicate using both email and phone; and very dependable for on-time moves at a competitive price. read more

I have donated a piano & Viking Piano Movers were hired for the job of moving it. They were polite and showed up on time to do the job, I was told that they are bonded and insured etc. however.... There was a TV sitting on top of the piano when Mark & his helper showed up for the pickup. Mark helped me move the TV from the top of the piano to the floor, then the piano was picked up and they left. Couple of minutes later when I went to turn on the TV the screen was flickering and I noticed a CRACK in the upper left corner where Mark was holding it during the move. Unfortunately when I contacted Mark about it, he brushed me off right away, saying it was not his fault. I was told that he was hired by another party (not me) to move the piano not the TV and that he was not responsible for any damage to anything but the piano. I really didn't expect that kind of treatment from these guys. Sometimes things do go wrong and you accidentally brake other people's stuff while trying to be nice, but at least you should own up to it and make things right. I wish I didn't have to write this review, but I feel that current and future customer's of Viking Piano Moves should be forewarned, so they are not left out to dry like I was. read more

Wow -- I want them to move everything, not just pianos, for every future move of my life. Just a wonderful team of two who clearly *love* pianos and treat them with real care and respect. Friendly, professional, easy to book, on-time, fairly and reasonably priced, AND when delivering my piano to my mom's place, they even took the time to rearrange and fix her piano. read more

There's a reason this business has so many 5-star reviews -- they really, really know what they're doing and they are incredibly professional and easy to deal with. They replied promptly to my phone calls, gave me a quote over the phone and then arrived exactly when they said they would to move my baby grand. They showed great respect and concern not only for the piano but for the wood floors in both houses. I can't recommend them highly enough. read more
