This is a very long-standing business in Dripping Springs, not fancy, not hot on the socials, and not trying to impress customers with bling or mall jewelry store fawning. Sometimes, depending on who is working the counter, communication is spotty, and the customer has to be more proactive. So be prepared for that -- but Vik himself is a master jeweler. I had a gold wedding ring that lost a diamond from its bezel setting. After retrieving the diamond (!), I brought everything to Vik. After assessing the work needed (he told me the setting needed to be built up to be more secure), he gave me a price and proceeded to repair, clean and shine the ring. Yes, it took a week, and yes, it was on the higher end of what I thought it would cost. But he did an excellent job. I would confidently bring any fine jewelry to him for evaluation. read more

I brought in a silver necklace to have the clasp repaired and asked about adding a safety chain like a friend had done. The woman at the counter when I first brought in was very kind and helpful, and the clasp repair itself was done well. It seems the problem is with the man that sits behind the curtain that came out and took my order and was there when I picked the necklace up. However, the completed work added a chain in a way that made the necklace impossible to put over my head. At no point was I told this would happen. When I returned to pick it up and pointed out the issue, he became rude, loud, and dismissive. He said I insisted that a chain be put on and it was totally my fault. He insisted I should still pay for the added chain, made an inappropriate comment saying "you old people always seem to be this way," and continued raising his voice even as I was leaving after I told him I will not be back. He said I was disrespecting him and he would take no more business from me! I agreed to pay and had the chain removed since the necklace was unusable as-is. This situation could have been easily avoided with proper communication, and the way it was handled was extremely unprofessional. I will not be returning and advise anyone else to do the same. Shame on this Vik's Jewelry employee in D.S to be so unprofessional. Here is my take on this situation: When someone asks about modifying a necklace clasp or adding a safety chain, it's standard practice for a jeweler to explain how that will affect wearability. Not pointing out that it wouldn't fit over your head is a clear miss on their part. * Customer interaction: Raising his voice, making a comment like "you old people...," and continuing to yell as you left isn't just bad service--it's inappropriate and disrespectful, full stop. * Blaming the customer: Even if there was a misunderstanding, a professional would clarify, fix the issue calmly, and move on--not escalate. read more

Terrible experience. Paid $2833.90 for a gold chain. Waited a week, no response from seller. Sent a message, no response. I looked up vik jewelers in dripping springs Texas and the guy verified it was his listing under the name vikdiamonds, but he told me they sold the chain already. He also said he responded to my message, but there is no response. Ebay told me he needs to cancel on his end, but he got angry and hung up on me and now I have to wait an additional 3 days for my refund. Not cool! read more

Located in an HEB shopping center in downtown Dripping Springs, VIk's Jewelers does not stand out from the parking lot, but don't let that fool you. Vik is a master craftsman and a very customer focused jeweler. We went in to his shop to see if we could get a diamond and sapphire band upsized, and unfortunately, that was not going to happen. However, Vik did say that he could create a new one and reuse the stones which we were happy to have him do. Vik was very communicative during the process and even suggested we consider a pair versus the one band for balance sake. Well, we were floored at the results! Vik not only made a perfect set, but he went ahead and got us some better stones and the result was magnificent. I took a 12k chain to add 2 jump rings at the clasp. was told it would be $50. I was ok with that and left the chain. I did not get a copy of the invoice as the lady was trying to decide what to write. I said that I was ok, I trusted her. My bad. when I came to pick up she said it was $75.00. Vik has handled several repairs on jewelry for me: repairing a diamond tennis bracelet, adding charms to bracelets, and watch repair. Today I picked up the silver and turquoise bangle I left for replacement of a stone, and I am more than pleased with the work. Vik noticed my diamond ring needed cleaning, and he insisted he do that while I went to HEB. Vik is professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Moreover he is trustworthy. I went in with my godmother and we were greeted by a teenager who had air pods in and couldn't care less about talking to us. We asked how much of what they sell is estate jewelry and he said almost none of it. By the looks of it at least 80% of that store was estate jewelry. The owner eventually came out and he was just rude. I would never spend my money here. If there was an award for a ratty jewelry store this place would take the cake. read more

Bought a new watch from Nordstrom Rack without trying it on. It was too loose. I called during my lunch break to see about resizing, and they quickly fit me in and were able to my new watch resized to fit perfectly in the 10 minutes I walked around HEB. And it only cost $10. He had the audacity to tell my husband he bought me a bad ring and carried on criticizing my ring. I've been in before this incident and he never said anything to me before about my ring, but did carry on about how much he can leg press and if I can set him up with any available women. Back to the point--I know the ratings for my ring and its integrity as I'm a geologist. Cushion cut rings are harder to grade and while they can be graded are more difficult. Bottom line, never ever pass judgment on someone's engagement ring-- to your friends, strangers and especially as a so called professional jeweler. Watches are a hobby for me. Aside from my wedding band and earrings (optional for most cowpoke Texans), wrist candy is all men have. So, I buy and sell monthly. Omega being my all time favorite. I also trade in Breitling, Rolex, Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, and vintage Heuer. Some watches need attention; others are ready for resell immediately. Polishing, battery replacement, and quick adjustments for automatics goes to a friend in Austin who does it for 90 percent less than any store would charge. Family, gotta love 'em. I'd been into Vik Jewelers many times to shop the used case many times before my afternoon HEB adventure. He was the only game in town until Harper's Crap Jewelry opened up. This establishment is WAY classier also denoted by Vic's only competition going out of business within 4 months. Choosing employees can mean success or failure. One of Vic's staff overheard me complaining that Harper's charged me $30 to add links to a watch I had to ship immediately at the local Whataburger and relayed it to the store. I went in a few weeks later for another watch and Vic didn't charge me. Honesty is the best policy on Yelp. Sure, I could do the job myself if I actually bought the tools. With a regular job, cattle ranch, Jeep and Miata club, and a family to run these cost saving measures for my hobby are greatly appreciated. I think he charges 50 percent less regularly than the now defunct competition. BTW, for future luxury watch owners. We don't make thousands selling reconditioned time pieces. Worst customer ever. I walked and before I got to the counter he yelled what do you need? All I needed was a watch battery and I would put it in myself. He said he would do it and it would be 20 min. I thought great I'll go into HEB grab some things and come back. I came back and he handed me a bill for $28 and said my watch was broken and he had to fix it. Bullshit! When I got home I thought I'd check my bank statement and he ran my card and charged me twice. Shady character with terrible service. Stay away!! read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I ever walked into the store. This guy Vik is rude and condescending. I needed repairs done on a bracelet because it kept grabbing my clothes. His suggestion? Quit wearing those clothes. He then informed me that I had a cheap Chinese knock-off. I have gotten a couple of different quotes from other jewelers none of which ever said that. I don't care how cheap a piece of jewelry is if it means something to you. The guy at Vik jeweleryhad no idea what the bracelet meant to me and basically insulted the taste of whoever gave it to me, who by the way was my husband. This business recently opened in Dripping Springs. It is in the shopping area next to H.E.B. and so theoretically, appears to be a very convenient spot for dropping off watches for battery replacement while you're shopping. I recently took several watches for this service and am incredibly disappointed by what happened. . Let's first start with basic customer service. There's rarely any customers (should have been my first clue) but you must still wait for service. Once they notice you're in the store, it appears to bother them to have to wait on you. The owner, Vik, is rude and typically condescending. The female employee tries to be accommodating however she seems exasperated with Vik so you get to witness this conflict in full view. Fun. This store has NOT A CLUE about watch repair. One of my watches, a Polar heart rate monitor (expensive) needed a new battery. Vik told me To "throw it away" as it could not be fixed. False! Some of these type watches are "throw aways" but not a Polar. I took this watch to a real watch repairman and he had the battery in the watch and working within 5 minutes. Unbelievable. Next, I asked Vik to take a look at my Citizen Echo Drive watch as it was not working. Vik replaced the battery and it still wouldn't work. I asked him how to get it fixed and he told me he would send it to his "watch guy" and get an estimate and call me back. A week passed and no one called so I returned to the store and was told my watch could not be fixed. Oh, and this conversation was rude and short. I wonder why? I took my Citizen watch to the same real watch repairman who replaced the battery on my Polar and this is what he told me.....my Citizen watch has a solar powered battery within and did not need replacing. He pointed to an earth symbol on the back which indicated to him and any other watch repairman of this fact. He said all I would have had to do is put this watch in the sun for about 6 hours to recharge. When Vik removed the rechargeable battery, he essentially destroyed the mechanism that controls power and he bent a prong. The real watch repairman says he can fix it for $30. I will be sending a claim for reimbursement to Vik. This was unnecessary and he should have known about rechargeable batteries and Citizen Echo watches. It's a pretty popular brand for crying out loud. All in all, do not take your watches there. He does not know what he's doing and may actually damage your property plus it appears he doesn't want your business anyway since the don't seem happy to have customers in the store. Weird I would give him less than one star if possible. read more

Ok, I'm going to write two reviews one for each instance. My Fiancé has a Rolex that had a broken clasp and a missing stone. Anywhere else and this would have cost nearly $300. Vik replaced the stone that was missing and fixed the clasp for a relatively modest fee (no where near the expected $300. Vik returned the watch within the same week. Apparently you cannot write two reviews (even if it's for separate items). My same Fiancé has a $9,000+ Diamond ring that had loose diamonds. Helzburg Diamonds estimated $900 for the repair. Vik did it for $70 last year. Moral of the story - retail stores rely on their franchise and charge handsomely for it, other people like you and I just want quality work at a fair price. Vik is not only fair, but honest. We've been buying from him for nearly a year now with nothing but a great experience. read more

Fighting with the girls that work there in front of customers, yelling at the girls for no reason, fat shaming, telling them they can't talk with each other while waiting for someone to come in, I could go on and on!!! I strongly recommend avoiding this business. I was treated very rudely there when I went to have a battery replaced in one of my watches. I watched the owner treat his young employee badly as well. After getting the battery replaced I had to take my watch to a different jeweler (a competent one) who reseated the watch back properly since it had been put back on incorrectly.
