She explained how the treatment would improve the texture of my skin, how it would even and smooth the tone. She also, expressed that the treatment would encourage collagen production and tighten my skin... I was sold...lol Angela has a cheerful, calm, personable spirit. La Juana is amazing, professional and the energy that she has cultivated in the spa is palpable. It's cozy, comfortable and calming. The second you come in you're greeted with a huge smile and the sweetest smells of the lotions and potions she uses. The footcial was about an hour long and the first pedicure I have had since the start of the pandemic. La Juana took super good care and left my feet feeling baby soft and incredibly healthy. Her polishes are Vegan and very good for your nails and the exfoliating massage was amazing. It is a dry pedi so be prepared that it's different than your average pedi but it was unlike anything else I've had done and is worth every penny! If you live in the area or want to spend some time relaxing before hitting Riverside park, I cannot recommend La Juana and The Spaaht enough. I combed through yelp reviews and instagram and came across Essence and was really excited to solidify services with her! I went in for a Brazilian and underarm wax and half way through the waxing I honestly forgot that I was getting waxed! Essence is beyond kind, and makes you feel comfortable immediately (not in that cheesy.. small talk waxer way) but her energy and presence is effortlessly calming, friendly, and I felt like we could talk for hours. If you are looking for someone to wax who is through, gentle, meticulous, and sanitary.. I say book with Essence. It was really poorly done. To Marion's credit, she fixed it after I returned an hour later but I still did not get the look I hoped for. So, just as a precautionary suggestion: If you have locs and want them highlighted, go to someone who is a colorist of locs. Marion is very good at other hair styles, but I would not go to her to have my locs colored again. I respect Marion's work in general, but do your research.

Ms. Jackie was a consummate professional, the wax was quick and not painful like I expected. It was my first time and I had a lot of hair-all of the hair-but it went well. I was guided and I felt comfortable and safe. That's central for me. Quite honestly, that's how you need to feel when you have your most private of parts -all out. You don't want to feel like anyone is judging you or going to talk bout the fact that you pulled with a forest between your legs, when you leave . I was also educated on exfoliation for skin care and ingrown avoidance. ALL of my friends who get waxed have never told me about this part. It's important to be educated about your skin to maintain and retain the benefit of your service. I feel like the price was reasonable for the quick, clean and safe service with minimal pain-less than the chain that recently opened in the neighborhood and much cleaner than anything I have seen available in a while. The follow up six weeks later , as advised, was on finer hair without any ingrown or discoloration. I will be returning.
