This is not a design the colors changed different on my nails an hour after I left the salon. I have never seen this before.
Cayla C.

I got my nails done here and the color changed an hour after I left the salon. I paid $81 (which is already outrageous for one color) including tip for my nails to completely change colors unevenly! They looked terrible and I couldn't even wear them out. I would've gone back to the salon if I wasn't so busy. I am in disbelief.

You would walk right past this place if you weren't paying attention- it's in the basement but is very nice and I love the furniture. My best friend and I made an appointment for 7:30 for 2 gel manicures. We arrive at 7:30 and were told we would be seen soon. We were not seen until 8:30 - If my friend didn't want to do this so bad I would have gone home. Also, they only take cash so I had to walk back to the bank to take out cash. The woman who took care of me was very nice and professional but did not cut my cuticles very well. The gel was $25 which I thought was a decent deal. Good parts : they served wine and rosé so we were happy to sit and wait. Bad parts: an hour wait was pretty crazy - idk if I would want to come back because of that.

I absolutely adored this place. The second you walk in you are greeted with hospitality. Everyone there is so kind, I got a regular mani/pedi with Jenny, who I absolute adore ! She was great and I had a lovely convo with her. I recommend this place to anybody who enjoys a calm quiet nail salon, where everyone is making sure that you're comfortable and taken care of.

Before! My poor broken nail and horrible shape.

Amazing experience with Ms. Jackie and Cherry! It's an intimate setting and a luxurious experience. I came in with a broken nail and they fixed me right up with a gel nail polish. They also have BEAUTIFUL colors. I've found my new nail spot and it's #blackowned

Manicure!

I had a wonderful experience here today! First visit and first mani/pedi during the pandemic. Felt very safe, temperature taken at the door and I was asked to wash my hands upon arrival. The foot tubs are lined with disposable plastic liners, chairs are spaced out, and there are plastic shields separating clients from technicians. I relaxed with a glass of wine while Misha gave me a great (and much needed!) thorough pedicure. Ms. Jackie offered great advice and helped me choose some fun colors. Jennifer did an amazing job with my manicure and my nails have never looked better! Warm and friendly environment and so much attention to detail. I'll definitely be back!

I have been looking for a Black Owned nail salon for over 10 years. Many are in Brooklyn, Queens and upper Bronx by Gun Hill Road, way too out of area for me. I've been to a few in Harlem and their customer service was atrocious! About Your Skin is now my new nail salon! Their customer service, space, staff are top notch. Super positive vibes, felt like I was visiting my favorite family relative! The energy is inviting and the COVID protocols are on point! Jennifer did a fabulous job with my nail designs. I tried something new called gel overlay and I'm really pleased with it. Brittany did an excellent job on my pedi. My toes felt so loved. I HIGHLY recommend this salon. Make sure to make an appointment!

What I Asked For vs. What I Got

I'd been to this salon maybe twice or three times before and they really did put forth some effort at those times.. They are a new shop, I understand there's a lot on the managers mind so I let those small discrepancies go. I really did like Jackie but I think she needs a little more managerial and customer service skill as well. She was very accommodating until I became an almost-regular. I also really did like my pedicurist but she became very arrogant and rude after she started doing manicures. NOW ABOUT THESE NAILS... Gel manicure was good in the past with a different nail tech. Stephanie was good with pedicures and they moved her to doing finger nails. On this day I walked in at 4pm. They were booked and told me to come back at 7:15. I came back at 7. Didn't get serviced until about 7:30, 7:45, fine. Jackie did go ahead and prep me, which was good- she removed the previous gel polish. The first mistake on both our parts was them booking me that late and me even taking an appointment that late because Stephanie, my nail tech was exhausted. I showed them the photo I wanted to achieve which is the "before" photo I attached. They said it wouldn't look exactly the same but they would try. Second mistake, on both our parts - the nail tech confidently accepting the challenge and me letting her. I'm not sure why they think I wanted the design on my own nails because I never said I did. I wanted what was on the photo and the photo clearly showcases ACRYLIC TIPS. So I sit back, relax and let Stephanie do her thing because she's the nail tech and I assume she's got this. Jackie told her to test it on one nail. There was a miscommunication here because By the time she did that one nail, i realized she prepped the rest of my fingernails without tips. This is when I told Stephanie that I wanted tips not on my nails. She replies, why didn't you say that, I already prepped the other nails. Mind you it's like 8:30pm now, she looks like she wants to go home and I feel bad for her so I'm like, it's fine just even them out and add tips to the two short nails I have then. Jackie only remembers that part but in the wrong order. She thinks I asked for two tips upon entry but I asked for two tips after settling for it after my tech passed the prep phase. So she does the two tips but the nails are still bumpy, unevenly matched by the cut and they just look bad. And I felt bad because it was just a mess at this point. Also I hadn't realized that the method she chose would cost much more, plus the two tips, plus they charge about another $10 to (attempt to) shape your nails in a coffin shape. And my nails just look like I been eating curry chicken or Cheetos, it just didn't work. I paid $55 for this. I came back a day later because it wasn't sitting well with me that I didn't even love this thing I paid for. I was really nice about it, and came to ask Jackie if this could be done over with tips (like i wanted to begin with)and she told me to go ask Stephanie for what I want. That was a bad managerial move, Jackie. I came to talk to you, you put us in an awkward position because the nail tech was right there. She got red in the face and put her head down and tried not to answer when Jackie asked her when she would be free next to take me. At this point I had settled AGAIN asking for them to simply put tips with no color, just keep it plain if that's all she knows to do. The next morning Jackie calls to tell me that Stephanie doesn't want to do it so we are going to have to CANCEL my appointment and that hopefully I can find somewhere else that can achieve that look. That was it. No incentive. Another bad managerial move, Jackie. Give your unsatisfied customer an incentive so you can keep them because I was nice about it, I was patient and I DID bring up my discomfort. I understand that you're a manager and owner and you have a lot on your mind but you are also a tad forgetful. Jackie proceeded to go back and forth with me about how I didn't ask for tips. I said the photo clearly shows tips, I never said put it on my natural nails. I asked her for a PARTIAL REFUND. There's me being nice again because I know this was badly communicated because of the pity I had for the nail tech being tired but also they did a shit job on the shape alone, charged me for every damn step without communicating to me how much more everything would be and then canceling on me last minute because the nail tech didn't feel like it. She also refused to give me a refund and you know what, it's fine. I still wish this shop growth and maturity and better nail techs because I want to see a sister win but you have got to do better.

I created a Yelp just so i could praise this place and say how great their manicures are. I really really love this place. The Gel Manicure takes a long time but it is 100% worth it, hands down the best I've ever had.

Deborah N.

Extremely friendly staff; big, beautiful interior. Just went for a simple pedi and was treated at every step. Would happily go back again.

Visited this place today with my 4 year old mini me. One word Amazing! I am soooo beyond excited to have them in the neighborhood. The menu is extensive and prices are decent. The decor is beautiful and unlike most nail salons it's quiet and no strong odor. My daughter got a manicure and Lexy was so patient and good with her helping her to pick out her colors and every step along the way making her feel like a princess. I got a aqua-hydra dermabrasion facial and the entire process was awesome. They literally offer almost every beauty service except hair so you never have to go anywhere else. Not only are they black owned but the owner Jacky is a long time resident of the community. We will definitely be regulars here!

Honestly one of the best mani/pedi's I've ever had. The service here is phenomenal. From the moment you come in, the manager Cassey is so warm and welcoming. She helped me get settled in and even helped me pick my colors. Stephanie was my tech and she really did such a good job. Her manicure was very healthy and she took her time with the details. The owner Jackie was a total doll, she was working with clients the entire time but still managed to make sure everyone was doing well, all while singing and just giving off the best energy. It was really wonderful to see the owner so engaged with the salon. The salon itself is very clean and SO cute! Great job ladies, will be back again soon to support such a wonderful local business!

Sterile tools and appreciate the slippers and real toe separators instead of paper towel.

I ABSOLUTELY love this place and Rafaela!!!…read more The place is not a formal "waxing salon", it's sort of like a room within a rental space but its really all you need. Her time is super flexible and she works on appointments which is amazing if you have a hectic work schedule. I've always been SUPER scared of waxing, but i love the whole sugar wax thing. It's def not as painful and the little pain there is lasts about 5 mins. Afterwards she uses tweezers and makes sure that everything is removed. She's also super friendly which makes it easier to lay there wide open. I will def be going back and dont plan on ever using a razor for that area. She seriously left me feeling like a super star...i just want to show it to everyone.

It is where I was introduced to Dazzle Dry (DD), my preferred nail polish system, and where I realized doing my nails can actually be relaxing. I really enjoy their intimate set up (only two nail stations) and the biggest pro for me...no acrylic/chemical smell. They also do hair, facials, waxing, and massages, though I haven't experienced these services. The Dazzle Dry manicure is $30 while the pedicure is a bit more at $65. The service is so meticulous and gentle, it takes a full two hours. Their technique is different than what I have experienced in the neighborhood and their service is consistent. It truly feels like you are getting pampered and my hands and feet look brand new everytime. Sava is such a treat and well worth the price. If you've never tried DD before, it's vegan and said to last two weeks without chipping. This is mostly true, but of course gel (which they recently started to also do!) is king when you are going to be super active and in water. DD is perfect for day to day, and Sava has an extensive collection of colors. The owner, Iwona, is a fantastic technician, as is Monika. Love them both, and catching up with them is always fun during my service. I look forward to continuing to support this lovely business and feel lucky to have them close for my nail care needs. Ps- Call in advance for an appointment, especially during the holidays. They are closed on Wednesdays! Pay in cash and save some coins.
