If you want to be manhandled while you're trying to get a shampoo and blowout, this is probably the place to go. Holly was rough and asked me to flip my head upside down so she could dry my hair which is the strangest thing ever. Then she just blew dry my hair like a mother who hated her four year-old and told me that it would be pretty when she was done and I told her that I wanted a blowout and she said this is a blowout where she uses a Vented brush to brush my hair straight and then use a flat iron to iron my hair flat. And as she was doing my hair, she kept looking at the clock and complaining that she only had 30 minutes. I'll only have 30 minutes. I only have 30 minutes only have 30 minutes. A bad experience then at the end she said I'll check you out right here and I said how much do I owe you? She said $65 and when I booked the service it said $40 and she said well I'll take the $40 then I could've done my hair at home better and in the beginning, I asked her to put some purple shampoo in my hair to tone down the brassiness and she told me that she didn't have time for that that she only had 30 minutes with me. I have very thick dry hair. I tried to explain my hair to the stylist...... but she seemed to be in a hurry and interrupted me with questions of her own. Stylist was very nice...... but did not take much, if any, time to assess my hair type or get feedback from me. She cut it far too short around my face (2-3" shorter than the rest). And she thinned it too much. My hair is currently flat on top and sticks out on the sides of my head 3-4 inches. Not the look I was looking for. Now I have to wear my hair in a pony tail every time I go out. ‍ Cannot recommend. read more

I went to this salon a few weeks ago for a mani pedi. My esthetician was amazing. My manicure was perfect and my pedicure and massage was awesome!!! My friend had a horrible experience. Her french manicure was horrible. The nails did not match and the white tops were crooked and blurred. Her pedicure was started after mine and finished before mine. She had no massage even though we both got the same thing. Before leaving I had my esthetician fix (she needed to redo all of them) my friend's finger nails. I'm glad she helped and I didn't want to yank their reviews- but my friend would have given a 1 star review. read more

Ive always loved how clean the place is and the smell is always so fresh. Dont forget to check out the little trinkets that are on sale. They are always on time, which is really important. I have THICK , COARSE hair...that most CANNOT manage! I reached out to YELP for help, in regards to a number one salon! The View Salon popped up so, I did my research! What I found is everybody that works there is amazing, but April U stood out! I looked at her profile and knew she was the one for me! Took about 4 weeks to schedule an appointment! At first I thought...I can't wait that long...second thought...she must be that good and worth the wait! Especially after reading all of the wonderful reviews! I, like many other locals, lept at the chance to get on the livingsocial deal for the 1hr long massage + 1 hr signature facial for 75 dollars. I suffer from intense back pain and get bimonthly massages. I have experienced everything from local salon chains to 5 star resorts on the beach. What i HAVE NOT experienced is walls so thin I could hear the person getting a pedicure. However that was the only down side. Ed, the masseuse, is a kind wise man and makes you feel totally comfortable. Sometimes "deep tissue" can mean a painful massage however he was great at relieving the pressure without causing any pain triggers. The best surprise though was the facial! I normally don't take chances on facials and stick to my derm's office since I find facialists in spas to be too chatty, critical and push product the entire time. My facialist told me I had beautiful skin and then was SILENT in the best possible way. She went way beyond the typcial hand and arm massage and worked out even more knots in my shoulders and neck (and of course hands and arms and weirdly enough my jaw as well). She skipped the painful extracations and pushed ZERO add ons or products. When I was done I was BLISSFULLY relaxed and had surprisingly glow-y/soft/smooth skin. I have very sensitive, acenic skin so this is a HUGE recommendation!! read more

The Salon cancelled our appointment the last moment. Me, my mom and young daughter had appointment to have all 3 our hair done. Made plan 1 week in advance, for Friday afternoon. My mother was leaving the country on monday, so this was rather important to be done prior to her trip. Upon arrival to The View, we were told there is nothing they can do for us, and the salon is completely booked the next day. I understand having to urgently cancel an appointment. What I have a hard time understanding, is cancelling 3 appointments and not trying to accommodate the client at all. It was extreamly unpleasant, The hairdresser apparently had to pick up her child, - well, I have 3 kids, and I never stood anyone up,especially professionally. I am furious, now that I can not find any other salon to take care of my mother's hair on Friday afternoon. I would not recommend anyone to spend their money here, at a place where professional conduct is not a policy. read more

My daughter got married on October 3, 2015, in the middle of Charleston's 100 year rain storm. The day of the wedding, while roads were flooding, closing or generally impassable, the staff of View made it into work to prepare my daughter for her big day. Holly and Kim did our hair, and April did our makeup. They had their work cut out for them given that the bride had overindulged at the rehearsal dinner, the MOH has the thickest, curliest, longest hair of anyone I know, and it POURED rain ALL DAY. In spite of the adversity, the staff at View made our day. April listened to what each guest wanted and gave us exactly what we asked for. Holly and Kim used their considerable talents and creativity to give us all hair styles that met our needs AND lasted through the rain.
