I saw the owner for about a year and then tried someone else, looking for extensions with less maintenance. I returned and saw Chelsea M. who did a fabulous job on my color and corrected the damage from the extensions I was using from a salon and spa in Summerville. Chelsea M. was great, but I was shocked at how the owner acted toward me, maybe for leaving, or maybe because I saw someone else? Either way, I found it rude and unprofessional for someone who touts how empathetic and caring they are, to treat a customer in this manner. I've come to this salon twice so I figure I can give a good review. I've seen Juliana each visit to trim my hair. It's a simple trim, no frills. When you walk in, you're greeted immediately even if they're helping someone else. I sat down for maybe one minute before Juliana came over to grab me. After some small talk, I told her what I wanted and we went to wash my hair. She was quick, meticulous and my hair came out beautiful. She quickly styled it which was nice since I was heading to an event. I received a lot of compliments on it since and I'm happy with the cut! Ok, so I have to say the shine has worn off of my new found love for Paloosh. The highlights were simply not good. Yes, I was out in two hours, but that is because half of my head was not touched (the back). I just went yesterday to get another full set done at another place and holy cow the difference. I had 3 total appointments at Paloosh so I feel like I gave them every chance. Unfortunately, even after a consult, we just couldn't get on the same page with the end goal. Also, front desk booked me 3 weeks out instead of 4 so when I realized and wrote in to change it, I was then pushed out two weeks which was the final straw and made me switch it up. Very nice people and the salon was very well kept and adhering to all safety precautions. Ample, FREE parking and very convenient, just not the best fit for me and that's ok! read more

She is great with offering suggestions as well as listening to what I am thinking or what I am after. She takes the time to do the job well and right the first time! Updating- still five stars! I'd give ten if I could. :) Over the last two years, Paloosh has become like family to me! My husband and I both get our hair done there. From the second you walk in, you immediately feel at home. They greet you, offer you a beverage (water, coffee, wine) and get you all set up. (Even waiting isn't bad there- the waiting area is comfortable, there are plenty of magazines and you usually strike up a conversation with anyone around. Everyone is just so personable and great. Customers and employees. Checking out is just as easy. Once you change back into your regular shirt (if necessary), you are taken up to the front to settle the bill. They always go over the list of services you are being charged for and give you the total. If you have any questions/concerns/comments/disputes, you have a chance to figure all that out before your card is charged. (I've never had a problem before. I like that they itemize it for you when they tell you the total.) I still see Shelcie and she is still just as fantastic as day one. Each time I go in, even if it is just a trim and thin (I have thick hair!), she consults with me beforehand to discuss everything. How I want it to get cut (I have had some ridiculous thoughts on how my hair should look, but she has been 100% honest on how it will look with my face shape, my hair texture, etc. Love that she is honest.), if I want a gloss with any color, do I want to try anything new, etc. She *always* consults me beforehand, no matter how many times I come in. Yesterday, I decided I needed change. I wanted to change my (natural) color to something different. We discussed options and what would be best (especially for a first timer like me!), the price point I wanted to stay around (price is *always* discussed during our consults, even if it is just a haircut). I trust her enough to let her have fun- and she did a great job. Went with a raspberry color with lighter reds throughout. It looks fantastic!! I am highly pleased with how it came out. Can't wait to do more fun things throughout the seasons changing. (That's a thing, right? See, I'm still new to the hair color changing thing.) Another shout out to Jordan. I called in a couple of weeks ago, last minute, to see if I can get a small styling done for an event I had that evening. They were able to get me in (within the hour!) to meet with Jordan. During my consultation before we did anything, we discussed the type of event, the venue, the dress I was wearing, everything. It helped her with the vision of how my hair should look. I described something I was thinking about/picturing in my head and she went with it. Came out great! I got a ton of compliments at the event. I was so happy with how it turned out. I get complimented a lot on how healthy my hair is, the natural color coming out/shining (thanks, gloss!) and the cut. I will always refer people to Paloosh (in person, on Yelp, on Reddit, anywhere!) They always make sure you are set up with someone will fit any needs you may have. (Example: I was set up with Shelcie at the beginning because she does great work with thick hair. It's been the best haircuts I have ever had.) I just love those pretty ladies in that salon and recommend it to anyone looking to have your hair done- from the simplest of a trim to extreme makeover! read more

I have been going to Paloosh Salon since they opened years ago. From lashes to hair color to hair extensions I do it all. When I moved to DC for a few years, I still flew back to get my hair done by Holly because she simply is the best. Lash extensions are amazing for weddings, special events, or if you're like me, having fabulous lashes all the time! Hair extensions have taken my thin short hair to long and full plus curls hold so much better in extensions. They also carry a bunch of products I love...youngblood makeup, J Beverly Hills hair products, etc. You really should schedule an appointment at Paloosh. read more

After today's session with Chelsea, I realize I found the Lexus of salons after riding in a broke down Buick of a salon for 2 years! The color she did for my hair was spot on & the gloss! No one's ever done that before! The she added extensions, telling me how to take care of them & make them last longer. I drove from Columbia to this salon after going to someone there for 2 years who, I realize, didn't much know what she was doing. And I will keep driving here too! I cannot give 5 stars because of pricing contradictions. I was quoted one price and charged a very different price. The stylist rates 6 stars. The front desk experience upon checkout lowers the stars given. Pros- Jordan was excellent She certainly corrected and tamed my messy head of hair. Having moved to Charleston just 1.5yrs ago, I had yet to find a well-trained colorist/stylist. Jordan certainly has the skills and talent. And she was very accommodating by coming in early to fit me into the schedule. I have lots of long, thick hair so it was an extra long appointment. Cons- Price not even close to the quote I was given. Having worked in the spa industry for over a decade, I know that all hair is not created equal and it is next to impossible to quote hair without seeing it first. Therefore, I actually went to Paloosh for a quote before making my appointment with them. I was quoted $345 'or a little more depending on how much product is needed'. Upon checking out, my bill was $460! I was so shocked that I was speechless. And it takes a lot to leave me speechless. Please note this did not include the $100 tip that I gave Jordan. (She was worth it!) But I will be hesitant to book at Paloosh again unless I pay upfront for services. And do note that it was the same person who assisted in the quote as in the checkout. It was not a matter of miscommunication. Additionally, numerous before and after pix were taken of my hair. I asked to have these sent to me either via text or email and was assured they would do so. I was looking for a hair salon with a stylist who can make me feel confident that she knew what she was doing, and I definitely got that feeling with the stylists here at this salon! As soon as you walk in you're treated by the friendly staff, which is a great feeling. My stylist today was Jordan, and she did an incredible job on my hair! She focused just on my hair and what she was doing, without being distracted and talking with other stylists and she listened to what I wanted to do with my hair and made suggestions about what she thinks would work with what I wanted and answered any questions I had about the process. I still got to keep the length while still trimming and adding layers and movement throughout my hair. You can definitely tell when a stylist knows what she is doing and enjoys every bit of it. I had such a great experience with Jordan, and I would recommend her to anyone who is on the line about this salon or looking for a stylist that they can trust! read more

Praise all that is holy that Shelcie and Paloosh are so talented (and close to my house)!!! After a horrific experience at a well known salon in Tanger (I would not recommend a Toni Hammond) Shelcie restores my hair to an even better state than I was born with. I had no idea what I wanted done, but Shelcie had great suggestions from every price range. I did a gloss, highlights, low lights and a cut and was ecstatic by the results. I am going back next month for a keratin treatment. All the girls are so helpful and down to earth...and they do all sorts of spa services like spray tanning and waxing. And they use quality products that aren't gross with animal tested parabens ... leaves your hair silky, sexy, and smelling like a celeb! read more

Staff was great-welcoming. However I didn't realize it would be $350.00 for a cut and highlights. The hairdresser decided to put a glaze on after the highlights. I didn't want my hair to look fried and unfortunately it did..it also took 5 hours to get my hair done. I didn't pay that much for my wedding highlights/updo. I am looking into a different salon. I will make sure I ask for the price upfront next time. I knew it was expensive with $$$ dollar signs but not $350.00 worth. Even if it wasn't for the price, my hair has lost its natural shine..it's really dry and I can't brush it without adding products (leave in conditioners). read more

I see shelcies name all over this place so I will add to it! You could tell she was passionate at what she does, loves it too! Cutting hair is n art form to her and there's nothing more you can want in your stylist. My hair was a WRECK and she was honest. Told me my broken spots and where my hair needed help. Do not waste your time unless you like to considered just another dollar sign. I waited 6 weeks for this appointment (an attempt to "treat myself" after a significant weight loss). After waiting 15 minutes after my appointment time, Chelsea took me to her chair and without asking what exactly I was looking for, she said "lets talk about budget". SO UNPROFESSIONAL for that to be the first time you talk about. I was attempting to go from an intentional copper color to blond. Something I knew would take several appointments, I was ready to commit. I told her my price range (perfectly reasonable for the beginning of this service) and she agreed. She started the service, a "Malibu treatment" that she said was the "best thing since sliced bread". When it didn't remove as much of the pigment that she "anticipated", she sat me back down and told me she wasnt comfortable doing it within the price range I set ($300). She told me that I would be minimum $500 (WTF?!?) and that was just a minimum because "you never know what could happen when I get in there". And that sometimes it can go up to $900. Are you kidding me? So, here I am sitting in this woman's chair, CRYING, because of how much I had been looking forward to this appointment and finally treating myself. This was just the first of several anticipated appointments and she expected me to commit to MINIMUM $500? And she kept telling me that "color correction" is more expensive. I wasn't correcting a mistake, I was changing color. I didn't have crappy box color on my hair, it was professionally done. not only that, but the treatment she did on my hair changed the color (I have very happy with my current color, I just wanted a change) and now I am stuck with something I didn't want. She offered to "glaze" it over to a brown color. I went to cosmetology school, I can do brown myself. my hair was still wet at this point and when I told her I didn't want to "go brown" and couldn't afford to commit to what could have been a THOUSAND DOLLARS, she offered to "stick me under the drawer for a couple minutes" to dry my hair up a bit. What in the world? the only saving grace to this whole experience was that she didn't charge me for what was done. I wouldn't have paid anyway but I'm glad she offered because, based on past reviews with price disputes (apparently happens all the time at this over priced salon), assault, battery and verbal harassment aren't above these women after they deceive their clients on price. I was in desperate need of a hair cut after traveling the last couple of months. Thursday morning I crossed my fingers while I called Paloosh hoping for a weekend appointment. The receptionist let me know that they had a cancellation at 10am on Saturday, perfect. My stylist was top notch, usually I need to guide a stylist to get my fringe just right, she had no issue and had it right the first go around and she trimmed my long tresses without taking off too much, which I'm always paranoid about. Upon check out, the receptionist rang me up at $75. After picking my jaw of the floor, I reminded her I only received a cut and I remember the website listing the price at $45. Turns out the website lists $45+. The receptionist really should have let me know, as a new client, that I was schedule for a $75 cut when I made the appointment on Thursday. I'm not unhappy with the cut, it's fabulous, but a heads up from the receptionist would have prevented my surprise and frustration. read more

Jordan is not only an excellent colorist, she has a great personality and is super friendly. Over the last year I've seen three different colorists and each time I told them I wanted to go from golden blonde to a cooler, vanilla blonde. Each time I left golden blonde. But not with Jordan. Granted it took two separate (reasonably priced) visits but she was committed to giving me the color that I wanted and for that I am so thankful. I FINALLY have the color I've been asking for. I highly recommend Jordan to anyone looking for a talented and down-to-earth colorist. Also, everyone I met at Paloosh Salon was warm and accommodating. read more

After a series of hair stylists at a downtown salon had left me high and dry I tried out Great Clips. I mean my hair cut isn't all that complicated how hard can it be and $13 I thought sign me up and all was well until it wasn't. I let my hair grow out for 6 months with no cut or trim. I was recommended to go see Shelcie and I am so happy I did. She took my hair and did wonders with it! It hasn't looked this good in years! She was personable, funny, knew what she was doing and it showed! She listened to me when I told her what I was looking for with my hair which was so nice and a great change. Not happy. After going o this salon a few times and having semi bad experiences each time, I done going there and am looking for a new salon. Their prices are too high and they used scolding hot water on my head. After complaining, she didn't even apologize. Since I've be going there, my hair is more dry from the cheap products they use. My hair is very short and I'm not happy with my hair being so dry since I've been going there. Also, their wine is not very good. Tastes stale. read more
