I noticed there hasn't been a review in quite a while, so let me leave an update! This poolside bar is extremely understaffed. We waited an hour for four drinks and two hours for our food. We got to the bar a little after 8 PM and didn't leave until nearly 11 PM. The food was good, but having to wait hours for it to arrive when the bar wasn't even that busy was very disappointing. I would not recommend this place unless you're prepared to wait hours for your food. read more

We ended up at View 32 for after-dinner drinks. This place was OK. View 32 is one of the restaurant and bar options located at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa, on the northeast side of the island. It's open for lunch and dinner daily and is family-friendly. View 32 is located outside, adjacent to and above the pools, on the hotel's main level, same floor as the lobby. From the lobby, exit the doors facing the beach and head right and you'll run into the restaurant and bar. There are pool and distant beach and ocean views. The central bar is covered, but most of the dining tables are uncovered, on the patio. They do have umbrellas. The bar has TVs. During our visit, some folks came down from their rooms to catch a game. Our group of four sat on one of the couches that lines the inside of the bar area. Lounge seating. The dinner menu had a straightforward selection of soups, salads, apps, sandwiches, burgers, entrees, and desserts. Standard American fare. For example, crab cake ($16), Cobb salad ($16), fish (grouper) tacos ($17), steak frites ($42), shrimp and grits ($28), and bourbon pecan pie. The drink menu featured frozen cocktails ($13-14 each), "refreshers on the rocks" (cocktails with ice, $13-16 each), and a limited selection of beer and wine. We ended up going with one of View 32's three dessert cocktails, the Chocolate Martini ($15 each). I recommend it. It was made out of Smirnoff Vanilla, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Baileys Irish Cream, and half and half. The drink was delicious. It was sweet, but not too sweet, creamy, strong, and tasty. My wife loved it and thought it was the best drink she had on this particular trip to Hilton Head. We hit up a few different spots for cocktails this time, so that's high praise for View 32 and the main reason I'm rating it 4 stars here on Yelp. Service was fine. We weren't served at the couch/table, but instead had to go up to the bar. We stayed past closing time (10pm) and weren't asked to leave, but we left as we noticed the staff closing down for the night. read more

My husband and I came by to the bar while waiting for our room and got a little snack. Our server/bartender was very friendly and took our orders quickly. We ordered a virgin pina colada and tiger paw to start off and it was DELICIOUS! Then we ordered the mason jar dips and crab cake shareable plate. The mason jar dips had hummus, cheeses, olives, and pimento cheese served with crackers and pita bread. They were soooo good. The crab cake came with quinoa and arugula salad which was pretty good. This is a decent, poolside bar offering elevated bar food... prices are high, not only because it's in the resort, but also because it's at the pool. The place was packed when we went for lunch. We stopped in in between dipping in the pool. Our server was slow and hardly paid attention to our needs. The runner brought the wrong food for one of us. The chicken sandwich was over cooked and the chicken was very thin and dry. There was only a dab of sauce on the sandwich. The fries weren't hot when the food came out.   The pastrami salmon seemed to be a winner though, it was  exactly how my wife wanted it and she enjoyed it.   Overall, not worth the price... they could use a lesson in offering better service too. They're friendly, they're just acting like they are doing us a favor by allowing us to eat there. read more

This was an easy choice after a long drive, we just wanted to eat and get on with our evening. We had no expectations and it was fine. I was disappointed to learn the the bar and the tables had two different menus. We sat at the bar and didn't realize this until we ordered, and the other menu seemed to have more options. The menu is limited and pricy. We ordered a southern fried chicken sandwich ($18) and the grilled cheese BLT ($15). Both came with fries, which were double fried. There was very little in terms of seafood, and the fried shrimp were the small shrimp you'd get at a chain restaurant. No thanks. I was happy to see MacMurray Pinot Noir on the wine list, it's a favorite. Service was good, no complaints there, but not worth the price. read more

This place has for years been a go-to for informal, casual dinners as it's an easy walk down the beach from our vacation home when we don't feel like driving anywhere. Prices are steep and service is usually slow (seems like staff must go through explainable red-tape to get drinks made and food ordered), but the location is convenient and the atmosphere is what we enjoy. However, this year I could not get over the disgusting condition of the seats, both on the couches and ultimately at the 6-top table we were relocated to. I'm talking scum packed into every crevice where the wicker seating met the seatbacks and armrests. Every chair at our table and the couches that we originally sat at were in this condition. Food and drinks were Grade B+ as always but I could not get my mind off of the festering ooze of whatever slime and mouth droppings were inches away from my arms and legs. For a resort of this caliber, the sanitary conditions of the restaurant were appalling. Clean the seats better (or at all) or get some new ones. Not sure how this place would pass a health inspection in the condition we saw it in. Usually we'll dine multiple times here during our vacations, but in full disclosure, this review is based on a snapshot-in-time of our lone visit during our two-week vacation. We did not return because of the slime. Bring a poncho to wear until they clean the seats! read more

View 32 at the Westin Resort offers a diverse menu and incredible service! The view is great and the dining area is very nice with a variety of seating options. Duke is an incredible bartender. Duke makes every experience feel special. No matter how busy or hectic, Duke always makes guests feel special. He makes recommendations for both food and drink. The grouper tacos and steamed shrimp are a must. The she-crab soup is the best on the island and maybe even the best I have had! We stayed at the Westin for a week and had dinner there one evening. While the service is average, the food is decent. I gave it four stars because the mahi mahi entree with quinoa and arugula is a must order. It's light and fresh for a beach trip. The she crab soup is also good- creamy and loaded with crab. Our other entrees were the low country burger (rave reviews, although I referred to it as a heart attack on a plate) and the Cobb salad. The Cobb salad was standard, although they forgot to include the avocado and it was made with butter lettuce instead of romaine/mixed greens. Our guests ordered the brownies a la mode. Strangely, the brownie wasn't served warm, which seemed odd. Go for the mahi mahi and she crab soup. read more

Just to be clear, this is the bar at the Westin (outside the back of the lobby over the swimming pool). It is a fantastic setting -- a large covered area, with a circular bar in the middle and an unobstructed view of palm trees and the beach. You can sit at the bar itself or on nearby on couches with tables. The husband and I settled in at the bar on a Saturday afternoon and stayed for...oh, five or so hours. And it was fantastic! Drinks were excellent. I stuck to the low country lemonade, which was DELISH, and had I kept drinking them, I would have been in trouble! The husband tried a number of beers and ultimately got a couple of martinis after watching the bartender mix them for others. They even gave him a whole bunch of extra olives when he asked for a few more. We got a couple of food items too. The she crab soup (not sure why girl crabs are better...) was amazing. We also got the key lime tart, which was delicious as well. As lame as it sounds, I really wished they'd had mozzarella sticks, but no luck there. Finally, they had live music that for once wasn't too loud! There was a guy with a guitar when we arrived, and he was replaced by a two-person group around 6pm who were very good. Between the view, drinks, food, and music, this was a fantastic experience. If we're ever back in Hilton Head, this will be our first stop! read more

Not sure how many stars to give this place, service and atmosphere was 5 stars the kitchen is maybe 2 stars, We just came here for apps, so I can't speak to their entres,the shrimp was not deveined, the fried green tomatoes had a good flavor, but they were cold. Not so great. I ordered this dish which spoke of tomatoes and basil and all it was was canned tomato sauce. Most of the meals have been really disappointing. The guacamole tasted like it was the processed crap and the salsa totally tasted like it was from a jar. So the overall quality is just not there. Also the alcoholic drink we ordered for almost $10 did not even do a darn thing on an empty stomach on a person who gets tipsy off not even a glass is wine. So something is not quite right here. Not so enjoyable. The waiter was also not too friendly. Just made us feel like he was annoyed that we didn't order enough? Wanted us out of there. Disappointed. read more

We own a condo near the Westin and since the Westin manages our complex we get to use the Westin's facilities and even get a discount. Well, the discount hardly makes up for the fact that this is one of the worst bars I have ever been to - and I've been to a bunch. We go to View 32 frequently every time we are on the island for one reason and one reason only - it is simply a spectacular view. That said...last night there were four wait staff and a bartender. The staff stood together talking and waited on no one. The bartender (same one for several years) was rude. After we walked over to implore someone to help, we were treated dismissively. The food is just awful and overpriced. While we waited, multiple couples sat at tables and then left after about five minutes of being ignored (I timed it). Bottom line, the Westin is a nice place to stay, the beach is awesome, the views are wonderful ... but if you go to this bar know that you are there to see the Atlantic and nothing else. read more
