This place is seriously underrated! I had an amazing dinner there with a friend, and it exceeded all expectations! The food was fresh, generously portioned, and absolutely delicious! My crab noodle soup was loaded with protein like crab and shrimp, and the chicken wings were delightful. Katie's Pho (P2) had the perfect broth definitely some of the best in Madison! & And don't even get me started on the Tiramisu iced coffee--sublime! While the prices are a bit higher, the quality is absolutely worth it! It's family owned and waiter was super friendly. Pro tip: Go with a larger group to share an array of authentic Vietnamese dishes. You can really taste the love in this family-run spot! If only it were closer, I'd be visiting all the time! * Located near Global Market food hall-don't miss it!

A lovely addition to the Madison area. Open for nearly a year (replaced Mod Pizza), the nicely decorated interior was nearly empty when we stopped in for a weekend lunch. I hope that this isn't always the case as the food here is extremely good. We had an amazing server that only added to our overall experience. They were extremely happy to recommend items and had just a great attitude. There is also a bell at the table whenever service is needed. We started off with beef in betel leaves and then ordered a bahni mi and a large bowl of pho. All of it was outstanding. The appetizer was on point-grilled ground beef wrapped in betel leaves and herbs and then wrapped on a spring roll wrapper. They bake their own bread as well as make both the pate and the mayo in house and it shows as VT's bahn mi is the best in town. Absolutely stuffed with ingredients, it was a steal for $12. Our pho was also stellar. Their broth may be one of the best in Madison and the protein was of high quality. While I am not always on the east side, VT will be my #1 stop whenever I am. Highly recommended.

My husband & I ate here for the first time after meaning to try it for a while & we loved everything about the experience! We were seated right away & the service throughout was wonderful. They also have a doorbell to push at the booth if you need anything but we never needed to use it bc our waitress was great. The food came out quickly & was paced well. We loved our drinks & that they make them themselves. The lychee soda was so refreshing & I loved that it had lots of pieces of lychee fruit in it too! My husband loved the egg rolls. I can't eat pork so would love for them to add a chicken or veggie/tofu egg roll to their menu like some of the other pho spots do but they did have a vegetarian section with other spring options etc to try too which is nice. We also got their chicken wings with their homemade sauce which was delicious. It was sweet at first but then had a nice bit of spice at the end. The chicken wasn't fatty at all & was nice & meaty & the skin had a perfect crunch to it. I'll definitely be getting those again next time! Next we both got pho. I got a small bowl of pho w the rare steak pieces and my husband got a large bowl with the rare steak & meatballs. We both thought the broth was great & liked the portion sizes. The veggies to go with were nice quality & the sprouts & herbs I could tell had been washed which I appreciate. Overall we had a great experience, for both the food & service and we can't wait to return! I definitely recommend this place & was impressed with how fast they were, the size of their menu, & the flavors of everything.

I stopped by for lunch on a weekend. The place was not busy. R1. CƠM GÀ XỐI MỞ | Fried Chicken Rice Plate was my favorite item here. chicken was flavorful. PH. PHÓ THÖ DAI Special Hot Stone Pho Bowl was my other entree item. It came with a super hot bowl with boiling soup and meat and veggies in a separate plate. Meat looked un cooked. I think the concept is to put it in the bowl and it will get cooked. I was not comfortable with that way of cooking meat. Won't take this again. ST2. SINH TÖ MÁNG CÀU Soursop Smoothie was a good drink to try.

Bahn Mi with ham. AWESOME. Look at that bread!

Finally tried out Viet Town. I was putting it off because I had lost hope in a good Vietnamese place on the eastier east side. And, yes, I worried about the prices listed by Viet Town, too. WORTH the money. It was excellent, and the staff awesome. The bad side is that this is very close to my house, and I have a feeling that this will quickly become an obsession for me. We had the bahn mi with ham. This is what I will begin finding any excuse to get - we ordered a second for carry out. The bread, divine. The fixings, excellent - the pate was great. I haven't had a bahn mi that good in years - I honestly cannot overstate the quality of their version. We also had the pho in the stone bowl. I actually prefer the ingredients to not be in the broth, so I was excited they offered it this way. I'll get some of the other pho choices they offer during another visit, but for something special, this was excellent. And lastly we got the shaking beef. It was good - I've never had it before, and recently I've seen recipes popping up for it, so I wanted to find out what it tasted like. The rice and the accompaniments were very good, the onion with the beef cooked perfectly. I just don't think I'm a fan of the dish - but based on the quality of the ingredients and cooking all around, I'm happily going to try a different rice plate. If you've been thinking about it, go. I was so happy with our meal and I was very ready to be disappointed. But I can now say with confidence that the Eastier East side has a very solid Vietnamese restaurant. Oh, and the service was very friendly - I honestly love the bell by the table to let them know you need something. Silly, but made the experience even better.

Stopped in for dinner after hearing about a new Vietnamese restaurant opening up on the east side. We decided to try something new and got the fried chicken cartilage appetizer. It was crunchy, sweet and savory. Came with a side of pickled vegetables which were also a good addition. For mains we got the pho combo and bun bo hue. The pho was okay, not my favorite. The broth had a very strong spice that was not what I was used to. I really enjoyed the bun bo hue, however. The lemon grass was prominent but not overpowering. I would get this over the pho. Service was friendly and efficient with the call buttons.

No banh mi in front of me as I demolished it.

The Banh Mi's here are absolutely out of this world. I had a bite of the banh mi and had to ask the super nice server about them. These are not your ordinary banh mi rolls. He said they were made in house. I knew they were homemade, but I didn't think they would have been capable of making them at the restaurant. I thought they ordered them from a local bakery. You cannot get bread that crunchy and that light and fluffy from a package. Everything else you love about banh mi's are here. Sweet and tangy pickled daikon and carrots. Spicy jalapeños. Crisp cucumbers. Creamy pate and mayo. Delicious grilled pork. Or the delicious deli sliced Vietnamese meats. The drinks here are expensive but delicious as well. The other food here is great too, but I won't waste any more time writing it as the star here is the banh mi, as they are the best I've ever had.

Viet town has a lot of dishes that aren't commonly seen in vietnamese restaurants around here! Came here with my family and we were fairly impressed, my dad is Vietnamese and always has strong opinions. For appetizers, we ordered the goi coun and the nem nuong coun, both of these had the fried spring roll wrapper inside which is my favorite part and most restaurants don't do that!!! It also looked like they make their own nem :O very tasty! For entrees, we tried all of our favorites: bun bo hue, vermicelli combo, and pho combo. We also tried the bun rieu, I'd never had this before but I love a seafood broth. Overall, we thought that the broths were okay. On one hand, they didn't feel too heavy and tasted very light, but on the other hand we thought that they could have had a bit more depth of flavor. We were also surprised that the bun rieu and bun bo hue had a huge pork hock in it! It was kind of hard to eat because of the thick skin, but we were able to pull the meat off the bone. Also, if you're not a fan of pork blood, be warned! They have buttons at the table that you can press to call the servers, reminds me of Asia :) Service is great and ambience is much nicer than a lot of older viet restaurants I'm used to. It's a bit pricey, but I'll definitely be retuning, if you live on the west side like me, it's worth the drive!

So Ive been here three times now. The first was take out it was good but the dine in experience is way better. For starters I got with the meatball and tendon soup with extra tendon be prepared it $5.00 more for extra tendon but worth it. Next the pork egg rolls two pieces but crispy yummy goodness. The lychee juice so good real pieces of lychee. The service is great very patient and pleasant people. When you enter the restaurant it's very nice and bright.

Very friendly staff and open, airy atmosphere. Solid Vietnamese standards served efficiently. Spouse liked the pho and I got a bun dish. It will hit the spot if you are looking for this type of food.

Had one of the best Bahn mi I've had in the state. So fresh and delicious. If your are nice, and ask gracefully, they might make you a combo pork and beef. Mmmm so good.

Got to try out Viet Town a few weeks after their opening; will definitely be back! Ambiance (minus the fact we had to listen to 4 Ed Sheeran songs in a row, but that's just a personal preference!), food, and service were all great! The restaurant is also surprisingly spacious on the inside with both booth and table seating. You order via a doorbell at your table. The service was absolutely fantastic (we had the kindest server and if he reads this I just wanna say you're awesome!) and our food came out surprisingly fast. We had seen a few reviews from their opening week re: kitchen times being on the slow side, but it looks they have worked out all the opening week woes! They have a wider menu than other Vietnamese restaurants in town and I was really excited to see bun rieu on the menu! Prices were a bit higher than other places in Madison, but honestly I thought it was worth it for what we got. My friend and I both ordered the bun rieu and my boyfriend got pho dac biet. The menu doesn't list tripe as part of the pho dac biet so he was pleasantly surprised when it came with a very good portion. The beef tendon in the pho was cooked perfectly as well. The bun rieu was so good and the broth had so much flavor!! We knew it was gonna be legit when we saw the pork hock and blood cubes in the bowl. At first $18 sounded expensive, but it was well worth it just for the amount of meat that they give you. We could barely finish everything! Overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back!

Alot of protein with fresh vegetables, it was well balanced. Although advertised with pork belly, I picked more of the head cheese than anything else. I did get a hint of BBQ so I am guessing the flavor came from the pork belly (but not sure). The bread had a good crust to it but lacked the softness on the interior that I wanted. Mayo was rather pedestrian and lacked the depth of flavor of homemade mayo from other places. All around, it was very good and plan to stop back for their pho which is also much bally-hooed.
