Coming from Seattle, where Vietnamese restaurants are everywhere, we've been missing it since we moved here. The food here was very good! (Warning, this review is a little nitpicky) We started with the spring rolls. I liked that they weren't packed too heavy with the noodles, but they seemed a little overly filled with lettuce. Personally, I'd prefer a little bit more cucumber and cilantro. But there was lots of tasty shrimp and the peanut sauce was yummy. The pho was on point. Love the flavor of the broth and their selection condiments to add to it. My only complaint on this particular pho, is that usually the brisket is brought out raw, and you cook it instantly in the hot broth- I prefer this method. They were too busy to seat us, so it's a seat yourself situation except there's only tables of 4 and we had a party of 5. They hurriedly told us to seat ourselves, so we had ro solve that issue ourself by subtracting a chair from another table... The servers are nice, and you can tell that they are swamped but simply making eye contact doesnt prompt them to come check on you. I had to wave them over. Once i waved them over, the server will tell the other server to come check on us. I'm bilingual, i can speak English and Vietnamese just fine. I don't need an English-friendly server. I just need good service, lol. The kicker, there's other Vietnamese guests that came in, got seated, and got their food right away, so yes, they play favorites instead of first seated first served. Note: please ask for water refill. They never came to fill water once in the entire service. Even better, server takes 10 mins to get 2 wedges of lemon, not exaggerating. Speediness is terrible. We came with 5 people. 4 people got their meal first (one by one) , and they finished it... And we reminded them twice that the 5th person hasn't gotten their meal yet. $21 for a pork banh mi and a large pho dac biet. The pho was mids, what you would typically expect but it had a good amount of tendon which I enjoyed. Tripe strips weren't as good. Like I've said before, El Paso is an oasis for Asian food and being Vietnamese, sometimes you just really crave Viet food and this is probably the best place in El Paso to get it, but that doesn't mean that it's great. Ambiance - Clean, natural lighting, with plenty of tables. Service - They're very friendly and willing to give recommendations. Food: Pho - Pho is probably one of my favorite foods and honestly, it's pretty average here. The noodles are a little too hard at times and I find that there aren't enough and the broth a bit bland, but it's not bad. Thai Tea - It's more of a smoothie consistency with some whipped cream on top. The flavor is good though. Pricing - The pho is ~7.25 for a small and it's fairly small. Usually I can't finish a small, but I definitely can here. Overall, this somehow got the title of "The Best New Restaurant in Texas" by Yelp and I can't really see how. I first came across Viet Restaurant unintentionally. If you aren't paying attention or looking you can miss this gem, in the large shopping center where it's located. My first visit I walked in and asked for takeout recommendations. The Com bo luc lac plate was recommended (cubed steak). I took the recommendation and waited about 10 minutes for my order. When I opened up the food at home & dug in I was really surprised how good it was! Shortly after, I came across a news article about the best new restaurant in TX, being in El Paso - it was an article about the Viet Restaurant. The article prompted me to go back to see if my first order was a fluke or if it really was that good. Long story short, it was just as good the second time around! For my third trip, I brought a colleague from work and we dined in. Although I wanted to order the Com bo luc lac again, this time around I tried another option with beef & shrimp along with some spring rolls. Delicious! I've been eating here since they opened. I've always eaten their pho. I decided to try something different and I ordered the #30 combination with pork. I was recommended this place by a Vietnamese classmate and decided to drive to the other side of town; alas, I was not disappointed. I've been on a mission to find the best Vietnamese food in El Paso, and from first glance of the menu I was very surprised to see dishes that aren't typically offered. We got the Hu tieu dac biet, banh xeo, and bun bo hue. The food was very yummy, service was on point, and we left very satisfied. Next time I want to try the family dinner (sweet and sour soup, clay pot fish, and sautéed vegetables), pho tai, and bun bo xa ot (vermicelli beef with lemongrass). We were in search of a yummy Vietnamese restaurant and we came across this place. We walked in and were quickly told to find the table we wanted to sit at. They had plenty of TVs all around and they even had a football game playing on one of them. The waitress came right on over and took our drink orders right away. They have soft drinks for $2 but it comes in a can so there are no refills, but they do give you a glass with ice.. We both had pho and we ordered an order of the beef spring rolls, there are two in an order. I had the chicken pho and the hubby had the beef sliced one. The pho comes in two different sizes, a small and a large, and so the prices vary. The chicken pho was really good and they weren't stingy with the chicken breast slices. They gave us a big plate with all the toppings as well, and at the table you have all your condiments. (Soy sauce, hot sauce, siracha, etc) The staff was friendly and they came on over to check up on us several times. We will definitely come back again! Hands down the best pho place in El Paso! I am soooo happy to finally find a good pho place here. My coworkers have been telling me they found a good pho restaurant so today I decided to give it a try. It was around noon on Friday and the place was pretty busy. As soon as I walked in, I noticed that all the workers and even customers were Vietnamese. I ordered #19 pork broth with BBQ pork and wonton with egg noodle. When they brought a huge plate full of fresh bean sprouts and herbs, I had no doubt that the food was going to taste good! That's how I distinguish good pho restaurants; good pho places don't give you dry brown sprouts.. and I was right. Their pho had good flavor and their wonton was so juicy. Only thing I didn't like was their boba. I ordered the Thai tea with boba but it was very hard and chewy. You could tell it wasn't fresh. But their pho is worth coming back hundreds more times! Let me preface this by saying that Viet is probably the most authentic Vietnamese restaurant right now in El Paso. It's known as great food because there isn't much variety or competition, in my humble opinion. If it was placed in a much more competitive area like Little Saigon in Orange County, San Gabriel Valley Ca, or anywhere in Houston it would be a mediocre Vietnamese restaurant. I say this because I'm still trying to drown out the aftertaste of MSG 4 hrs after I dined there. They use a lot of it there to achieve the rich taste, and I was drinking 2-3 cups as I was eating the noodles and soups and I'm still chugging down water. I was so excited to try this place because of the hype. I know, I know, don't believe the hype, but I did and I saved it for the most special day I could imagine, which is the Lunar New Year; today. I came right when it opened at 11 am and I ordered the Pho because it's known for that and the Mi Kho Hu Tieu Dac Biet (dry egg noodles special with shrimp, squid, quail eggs, pork slices and had the broth on the side). The pho comes in small ($8+) and large ($9) and I ordered the large pho tai nam (eye round and brisket). The soup was well presented but they didn't have the same variety of greens (only cilantro and onions) and the bowl was just a regular size. The eye round was TOUGH. It's supposed to be rare beef and tenderized because it cooks in the broth. It wasn't the case here. It was obviously precooked and warmed up and really chewy. The brisket was softer but extremely fatty with little to no actual meat. The broth had black pepper on top, which was weird to me because if you want heat in pho, you usually add sriracha and jalapenos. Speaking of heat, the pho broth wasn't hot enough so it didn't soften the rice noodles enough to separate and was a lump. As I kept eating, I kept sipping water since it was really salty. Not the best pho I've had in El Paso. Saigon Taste has the better pho, sweeter and with less msg and sodium. The Mi Kho Hu Tieu Dac Biet was something I usually order at Vietnamese restaurants and I was excited to see it here. The seafood was perfectly cooked (not tough or fishy) and the portion of ingredients well balanced. The sauce had pate bits, caramelized onions and soy sauce with a lot of oil and msg. It was definitely tasty but again, with so much sodium and msg, I drank a ton of water and am still chugging it now to get it out of my system. Service was oddly very attentive at first (waitress kept coming around to ask me what I wanted to order) but forgot about us and had to be flagged to refill our water as time went on. I was used to paying at the counter in Vietnamese restaurants and got up to do so, but she brought my card back to our empty table, even though I was standing at the counter. ‍ They had a condiment station next to the table and normally I would love this, but not during Covid times. I liked other restaurants examples of doling it out if needed so I wouldn't have to worry if the prior guests had Covid and obviously they're not disinfecting the jar of chilis or bottles of Hoisin/Sriracha in between guests (at least I didn't see them do that at the tables vacated). I'm excited that they have on their menu family meals (soup, main dish, and vegetable dish) for $30, and I want to go back and try it, but after my daughter and I felt drowsy the rest of the afternoon and have been downing water like we're in a desert, I don't think I'll risk the surfeit of MSG. I'm glad we have an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in El Paso and if you're on the Far Eastside, this is probably your best bet at authentic Vietnamese dishes. Come out and #supportlocal read more

Reviewed during COVID-19 Once again, I came back to my favorite El Paso restaurant. We haven't been able to travel since Covid hit but of course if I'm in El Paso I have to stop by here. First off, with the mask mandate being lifted in Texas, I was a little nervous but I was happy to see that those worries were unfounded. Viet restaurant is currently operating at about 50% capacity with staffs wearing masks and everything getting sanitized between customers. Nothing has really changed. We had heard from a friend that this restaurant was the most "authentic" Vietnamese restaurant in El Paso so we were very excited to check it out! We got the pork spring rolls, pork banh mi, mango boba and Thai tea boba for a late lunch/early dinner because we were in the area. We would have gotten the pho but we weren't that hungry or craving pho at the time. spring rolls- the pork was so flavorful, had that grilled taste, the peanut sauce was the perfect pair. It actually had a lot of meat which a lot of restaurants tend to skimp on and fill it with noodles or lettuce but NOT here! Pork banh mi- my husband said it's probably one of the better ones he's tried here in El Paso. The meat has the grilled taste, fresh veggies and the pickled daikon and carrots were yummy! Mango boba- husbands boba of choice but he said it wasn't very good and watered down. The boba texture was fine but overall not something we would go here for. Thai tea boba-strong Thai tea flavor, which I LOVE and I'm so glad it was strong bc most places water it down. It was a little too sweet for my liking but I'm guessing most people like it pretty sweet. Overall, I would get it again! The food here was decent. This was the first "pho place" we visited since we moved out here from Cali (a few days ago) and like I said it was decent. I got the pan seared cube beef, my wife got the beef pho and my daughter got the charbroiled chicken....NOW THE CHICKEN....OMG IT WAS SOOOO GOOD !! I honestly should have gotten that lol. Aesthetically, Viet restaurant is a nice place to enjoy a meal. It appears very clean and it receives nice natural light. It is comfortable. Pho is a staple to Vietnamese cuisine and should be tried by all. Unfortunately, this pho waS not my favorite. The flavor was off, or at least substantially different from the pho's I've tried packed full of flavor. It didn't seem to be loaded either. I often felt like I was fishing around the broth for substance. I am used to blindly grabbing ingredients with my chopsticks and thoroughly enjoying my pho. It was good not great. Service is good. Fresh fresh and yummy! I like vegetables when the are crisp and crunchy I got the number 26 vermicelli noodles and charbroiled chicken. The way I eat it Is I put a bite of everything inside their water fish sauce stuff that comes with it. I know it sounds weird but it's like a sweet water base that kind of just like heaven tasting water. I put a bite of vermicelli noodles a bite of vegetables a bit of peanuts and some lettuce drench it all. Then bring the ball up to my face so I don't spill it all over the place.
