Seeking out Marcarons for Mother's Day led me to Vie a Paris in Hurst. It's kind of hard to spot from the main road, since the name "Vie a Paris" is much smaller than the "French Bakery" declaration. It totally makes sense, I just wasn't on the lookout for that phrase. Once inside, the interior is pretty cute. It seems dated, but who really cares when the heart of a bakery is it's baked goods. They had a huge selection of pastries, cakes, and cookies. I only got to try the Macarons, but some of the other cakes looked incredible. We bought 12 Macarons at $17, which was a little high for the size of the macarons. They were smaller than most that you'd get and the flavor was lackluster. I personally ate the pistachio, vanilla and mocha, they all tasted similar with very faint flavors. Not a bad flavor, but nothing out of this world. Since this is one of the only places to get macarons in the area, it's a fine shop, although I wouldn't go out of my way to get here. read more

This was such a cute French bakery! When Jon G. and I had an unexpected sweet tooth, we decided to check out Vie A Paris. As you enter, you see a wall of mirrors and lots of potted vegetation by the windows. Little ornaments hang from the ceiling and the pastries and desserts are lit up in glass displays. One counter held more bake good pastries, like Croissants, danishes and breads. The other counter had the more dessert driven options, cakes, Macarons, and tarts. I was immediately drawn to the macaron! It's one of my favorite treats and if I see 'em, I buy 'em! The price was only $1.55 a piece, which is awesome even if the cookies themselves were a bit smaller than I'm used to. I got Raspberry, Lemon and Pistachio. Really nice, elegant and classic flavors. The cookies had that perfect, delicate texture and the fillings had nice flavor. The lemon was a bit light, but the other two were spot on. Jon G. got the classic cheesecake, which I stole a bite of. Creamy, rich and a bit of tartness, not overly sweet. Really fab! This place is truly a hidden gem! What a fantastic little bakery, we loved our visit and will be back soon to try our more of these yummy desserts! read more

My wedding was in February 2020, and I wished I had posted this sooner. Anna and her bakery did a wonderful job on the entire cake including the design, flavors, and delivery. It would have costed me more than double at other bakeries and wouldn't even taste as good. I went to over 10 bakeries in the DFW area looking for tasty cake. Each tier had a different flavor: mocha & vanilla, chocolate, green pandan coconut, and pina colada with vanilla buttercream on the outside. The cake is light and the icing isn't too sweet. I got endless compliments about the cake from my diverse wedding guests. Guests came back for seconds! I posted pictures of the cake design I wanted and what I got from Vie a Paris which was beyond my expectations. read more

One of the places near Arlington I go for an Asian style cake....that is, not too sweet! Light and easy to eat. That's what I call Asian. And I like that! The twist with their cakes is the wetness or a little juice embedded in the sponge of the cake. I must say that I like it! This is my go to place to buy birthday cakes if I want to go a little fancier than Costco, Target and Kroger. The cake here, in my opinion, tastes better than what Le Madeleine cooks up....as they are too sweet! The owner is very kind, very nice as well. I recommend this place! read more

This french inspired bakery is a hidden gem next to Northeast mall. A neighborhood bakery that makes own croissant, palmiers, macaron, sliced cakes and assorted danish and cookies.. hard to come by. It has been around 30 years. With so many self owned bakeries closing its doors, it is more important to support whenever possible. This bakery have its regulars.. enjoying a chicken salad croissant and soup.. also the last minute rush trying to snag a ready made cakes for same day celebrations.. strawberry shortcake which is spongecake topped with fresh fruits (kiwis, strawberries, mandarin oranges), tres leches, cheesecake, chocolate mousse.. even pandan flavored or durian. Try a slice of each flavor.. but you will be back for a full size cake eventually! Come early for french baguette and try the pate chaud (minced pork puff pastry). This is my go to place to get cakes!! I love their fruit cake. Not too sweet and the fruit on top makes it so much better. They also have individual pastries as well but I mostly just come here to order cakes for parties. It's expensive, but definitely worth it! I've been going to this bakery since I was a little boy when my mom would bring me here after school. As I've moved away and lived and visited other cities, no other french bakery has beaten this one for value and taste. I've ordered many things from here, but Mocha cake, Palmiers, and Fruit cakes are my favorite. Unlike other french bakeries, these pastries are super light and flavorful, and not overly expensive at all. My wife and I literally come here everytime we're in town to visit family. read more

I've been coming to this bakery ever since I moved to Fort Worth...17 years ago! I won't lie, it hasn't always been perfect, but the hits surpass the misses. I'm excited they have French macarons now. They're a bit on the smaller size but not bad for $1.75 a pop. Strawberry shortcake is an all-time family favorite. Mini cakes in various flavors are great if you want to taste before committing to a full cake. The fruit filled croissants hold a special place in my heart that brings me back to childhood memories in CA. As far as service, the staff is ok but the owner is always sweet and friendly. Bakeries are a dime a dozen in the metro but finding a good one is hard to do. I stopped in here over the weekend on my ongoing search for a local(ish) bakery that satisfied my palette. The bakery is located in a strip center across from the mall so there is plenty of parking available. The inside has three display areas, a long one for cookies, a tall cylindrical one for full cakes, and the display area for the cake slices. They also have a good size dining area if you want to eat your sweets in the store. I ordered a strawberry shortcake slice for myself, a pina colada slice for my spouse, and to share we got a key lime tart, and chocolate mousse cake slice. We also got two chocolate chip cookies with fudge inside and I got a butter cookie with chocolate on top. The chocolate chip cookie with fudge inside was so so. I didn't care for the flavors or textures of the cookie itself thought I did like the filling. The butter cookie on the other hand was delicious, it's definitely something I'd get again. The strawberry shortcake was ok. Even though it was the same yellow cake that my spouse had in the pina colada cake my cake was drier and the texture was a bit off. The cream and the strawberries were good and fresh and the strawberry goo on top was just the right sweetness to complement the cake. I'll try this cake again to see if the actual cake is better next time. The chocolate mousse was good. I enjoyed the cute chocolate and cherry mouse they created for the top. I was actually expecting it to be a covered mousse so I was a bit surprised when it was chocolate cake with thin mousse layers. The flavors were very good and not overly sweet and the cake was moist and had a good crumb to it. I'll definitely be getting it again. The key lime tart was the biggest disappointment. It was just the right amount of sweetness but the crust was a little moist and I didn't get any flavors of lime from it at all. The cream was on point though. Why no review from me? I have no idea. When we are going to a party, as we were on this day, Vie a Paris is our "go to" place to pick up a desert (if Thuy does not have time to bake one herself). We have bought many a cake here, before Thuy started doing her own baking (which is the only way to get a better product). On this day Mark & I were tasked to pick up a cake for Easter lunch. Since we were picking it up (and it was not pre-ordered, which is required to ensure you get what you want), we passed on the typical cake with fruit on top, and went for something more like a German Chocolate Cake (with cherries and that gooey coconut frosting. Yum!). Since we had time to kill, we opted to order a few treats, and coffees, for ourselves. I was kinda surprised by the dine in option. I was even more surprised by the lunch options. Now I have the pâté chaud (a light layered and flaky exterior pastry with a meat filling - perhaps chicken liver I think) before (to go), and being a liver fan, like it. But having one hot and fresh from the oven was a real treat. Also, the soups and sandwiches caught my eye. I can think of nothing else I want to try other than the Onion Soup from Vie a Paris. Next time for sure, with a pâté chaud. We also nibbled on a few cookies, all fantastic (and too many to chose from) and drank some coffees, before heading down to Haltom City for lunch. Oh, and as expected, the cake was fantastic and loved by all, even Bô (who does not usually like sweets). I should note Vie a Paris cakes are not over the top "American sweet" like typical products from the grocery store. Bottom line: Great place for a sweet and/or savory fix! read more

For the many years I have lived in Fort Worth, I have been coming to Vie a Paris to get their DELICIOUS, INFAMOUS, BEST of THE BEST fruit cake and strawberry short cake. I actually got the fruit cake yesterday for $25.99 :) I came in around 5:30PM & they close at 6...so luckily they had ONE fruit cake left #happylilian When you go inside, there's nothing special.. a few tables and chairs, free WIFI, a coffee making area in the corner, a rotating fridge with pre-made cakes, two counters with croissants, sandwiches, and mini desserts. The one thing that kind of surprised me were the macarons...they were very small priced at $1.75! crazyyy. In my experience with cakes, no place can compare to Vie a Paris. It tastes better, looks better, the texture of the cake is sooo moist, and it's not overbearingly sweet either. Also the fruits on every dessert taste FRESH. Love their pate choud. I'm not sure if I spelled that right. Tried the sausage roll and ham and cheese roll. They were ok. The cream cheese Danish had a hint of citrus (orange) in it. Which is weird. Doesn't bother me. But my husband who doesn't like citrus flavor pinpointed it immediately and did not want the rest of the Danish. The macarons were okay. Not a lot of flavors to pick from. We ordered a birthday strawberry shortcake here. It was very good and generally I don't like Asian type of desserts, this one was okay. Very moist, tasty, lightly sweetened icing. I would not order this for myself, but if you know someone who likes this type of cakes, then try this place. The service was nice. One Vietnamese lady in particular is very nice. There are so many good bakeries but unfortunately, they are not located in the Garland/Richardson area. This place is such a long drive but we still manage to order some of our cakes from here. My family always orders the strawberry shortcake which is a white cake filled and topped with fruit with slivered almonds on the side. The fruit is usually seasonal and may consist of strawberries, kiwi, mandarin oranges and maybe just maybe grapes, blue berries and pineapple. Sometimes the cake is a hit or miss. The trick is to refrigerate the cake a few hours or a least a day before serving. If not, the cake is too dry and the juices from the fruit has not had a chance to soak in. I made that mistake with my son's birthday cake last year and vow refrigerate before serving from now on. When the cake is moist it is the most amazing tasting cake you've ever tasted. read more

If you go early, you will get the freshest baked goods and they are always willing to bring our items from The back of you are looking for something in particular. Prices have gone up over the years but I feel that it is well worth it has each dessert is hand made and decorated so intricately. Their cakes are nice and light, not too sweet, with a perfect balance, with different varieties for each sweet tooth. The macarons are SO good. The sub sandwiches they have for lunch are also amazing and always made to order with their house baked bread. This was my first visit to the bakery. I loved the atmosphere and the variety of deserts. I ordered the Strawberry Napoleon and the Marigold Rum Cake. Both deserts were beautifully decorated. The Napoleon was flaky with fresh strawberries and it was delicious. Unfortunately the Marigold rum cake was extremely disappointing. When I cut my cake open an OVERWHELMING Smell of rum hit me. So, as a foodie one dream of mine has always been to go to France and feast on the the delectable sweets and carbs that France has to offer...but who hasn't had that dream?
