I have been going to Vidalia's for years and have spent a lot of money in their store. I wouldn't even give them a star based on the awful customer service that they have consistently been given me throughout the years. Today was the last straw. Went there for lunch to get something "quick" from the counter. "Quick" if that is even a possibility if that store. There was a woman in front of me who was buying a lot of items. Was chummy with the owner who was behind the counter. There were about 4 workers behind the counter as well. The owner was berating one of her employees, who was stocking the fridge, saying she didn't understand something, and was more concerned about berating her employee instead of helping the customers in line. When the woman finally in front of me was done buying the store, I said will I be getting any help, I have been waiting about 10-15 minutes and no one has said anything to me? The owner questioned how long I was waiting. So I said yes I have been waiting that long. Then I said you have awful customer service-based on my experience coming here. She told me to leave the store. Is this how you treat long term customers that have supported your business for years? That's when I told her she has absolutely no business sense. This owner may produce good food, but she and her staff are extremely rude, only friendly to people they know and their service is extremely slow. Not worth the money nor the humiliation. read more

Located near the Beverly Farms commuter stop, this is a great little grocery and food stop. A beautiful market showcasing some of the yummiest fruits and veggies, you won't have a shortage of things to consider purchasing at this place. My husband showed me this little gem, we stopped by for lunch the other day. I got something reminicent of an italian sub on cibatta, while my husband got a roast beef sandwich. We both loved our sandwiches, although I would (personally) do without the pepper sauce (italian dressing like). Aside from that our meal was great, and the little seating area in the front is so cute you'll want to sit and enjoy yourself while you survey the market. All their baked good are made in house, and my husband said he has come a number of times and had his fill on their goodies. They have tons of drink options also. The cost for the sandwiches was reasonable. They also have a public bathroom in the back. They take cash and card. They have a little sign notifying you of the fact that their baked goods are made in the presence of nuts (in case you have an allergy) If I'm ever on the North Shore I'm sure I'll be back :) read more

Mimi the owner is also in the catering business. Buyer beware. I ordered food for my daughter's baby shower for 30 people since she liked their sandwiches. We ordered sandwiches salads and a charcuterie board without obtaining a quote and it worked out to be $33 a person. The sandwiches were not of the same quality that you get when ordering them at the store - the salads were simple and nothing gourmet - charcuterie board was eight dollars a person - it was a complete rip off of the century. Just stopped in for a hot chocolate. I ordered and stood there for 5 minutes. I finally asked the lady at the counter, "where I should pick up my drink". Her response was "hot water and Swiss Miss packets are over by the door and it's self serve" What "high end" place has self serve hot water and Swiss Miss packets? running errands this morning and needing breakfast I thought an egg sandwich would hit the spot. Unfortunately I wasn't sure where I could get one..Dom's was closed and I'm not a big fan of DD's and no diners in the vicinity. I spyed a street sign in front of Vidalias...I thought they were a produce store ,didn't know they had sandwiches too. It was my first visit so I ordered an egg and ham with sharp cheddar on english. While waiting I checked out the store and found the highly elusive green peppercorns I've been looking for for a steak sauce recipe. They have a lot of different things going on , but it looks like they do well. The egg sandwich was excellent the egg was perfect for a sandwich ,somewhere @ over medium , good ham and cheese ( 5 stars ). The coffee was good and roasted by the Atomic Cafe a local coffee shop /roaster in downtown Beverly. The total was a little pricey @ $8 for an egg sandwich and a small coffee, I'm sure the real estate is a little pricey for downtown Beverly Fahms, but still pricey. Down to earth people in a yuppie town. I love this little place. It's a cafe and market selling locally sourced produce. The sandwiches are great and not overpriced, the pastries are awesome and the cashiers are always so nice! One of the chefs (older brunette woman) is sweet as pie! Lot's of variety here and the outside seating is great. I live in Ipswich and drive here a lot for lunch with my dog. Wonderful little place. I love visiting Vidalias. Being from Georgetown it is a trip, but a worthwhile trip. We love the sandwiches and prepared meals. My kids favorite is the chicken pot pie and the meatballs. You can't leave without getting something from the bakery...cookies, scones & muffins are usually in the car with us for the ride home. I can always find uniques marinades, sauces and dips when I visit. I must say the cheeses are the best on the North Shore. Fresh produce along with the organic meats make it possible for us to purchase a complete meal in one stop. The owners and staff are always very helpful and do everything to make your visit a pleasure. My only complaint is Beverly is to far away from Georgetown. read more

The cinnamon roll will literally change your life but they run out of them most days by early morning- I really don't understand why they don't just make more of them because they're clearly a best seller. I have only been in this space once, so I am not basing this review off of a lot of experience. I wanted to introduce them to Yelp, and let people know what I found and experienced. I gave it 3 stars based on potential. As you walk in you immediately see crates of fruits and veggies - obviously not local this time of year, but I hope that they offer locally farmed produce when they can, or at the very least American grown and organic. None of this is clear simply by looking at the display. As you walk past the counter there is a small display of baked goods - muffins, scones, cookies, brownies, croissants - and you will find some packaged foods - pastas, sauces, crackers, etc... and in front of you a cheese case and a large blackboard filled with sandwich offerings. I quickly perused the cheese, saw humboldt fog - from CA, and saw that there was a variety of goat, sheep and cow cheese - but not sure if all, some or none from New England. I opted for a CA grown tangerine and a scone - blueberry. They also had chocolate chip scones and about 5 different muffins, 2 types of croissants, a brownie and a few different cookies. The texture of the scone was nice, light and not too dry - but the blueberries simply tasted like water! I am guessing they are frozen and a very bad brand or something. I don't recommend the blueberry anything, not enjoyable. The place is very clean and looks new, not sure how long it has been opened for but has a lot to offer. I would definitely come back to check out the sandwiches and some of the other baked goods -- it all looks great and well made. I would have given them another star if it was clear that they support local farms, organic produce, or if the blueberries had some flavor. read more

Popped in for lunch. Very nice positive surprise. Super fresh daily catered specials. Elegant soups. I had the vegan "creamed" spinach which had a boatload of flavor. Also had a turkey slider. The mini bread roll was thoughtfully buttered and grilled on the flat top. Provides a sophisticated twist to a delicious mini turkey patty. Great little lunch for $8. Depending on when you go, and who is working, the quality of your food can vary GREATLY. Sometimes, the sandwich is stuffed full to perfection, other times they forget half the ingredients. The quality of the food is good, and it is very fresh, but I have been 6 times and each time ordered a BLT with turkey and avocado. Every.single.time. they have gotten it wrong--- either left out the avocado, or the turkey, but ALWAYS charged me for it. Why do I keep going back, you ask? I want to give them a chance! It could be SO good with just a little consistency and some attention to detail. Definitely try it out, but just know that you will not get the same experience each time you go. read more
