I wouldn't typically rate an average grocery store with anything more than three stars. With that said, the staff here are outstanding all the time. They get five stars any day! Jeff, the assistant store manager, consistently goes above and beyond to take care of and fix issues customers have. He is super friendly and helpful. I have needed assistance on numerous occasions and he is always ready to help. Dominique, the store manager, is also extremely friendly, kind, and interested in having customers have the best experience possible. Jordan and Corey at the customer service desk are also both helpful and friendly as well. I immensely appreciate all of their attention to small detail. Price accuracy is pretty good at this location and they are willing to fix an issue if it is to arise. The store is clean, organized, and generally well-stocked. Not the most visually appealing in comparison to many other more renovated supermarkets, but it's not bad. I prefer this location over the other Beverly store. 5 stars. There's no food coupons in the app. The coupons are 95% household and beauty products etc, not food. It seems intentional and disappointing since it's a grocery store. There's also so much price gouging and unfair prices that ate completely unreasonable. read more

I was shopping with my wife when I went to check out. I don't know what was going on, but my cashier Miriam was throwing my stuff down the belt. It was really disappointing to see. I'm guessing one of the workers is transgender because he approached Miriam in an upset manner telling her that he was not a girl and he doesn't use "she her" pronouns. This just made everything unpleasant. How hard is it to be a decent person!!! She continued to be angry with me during the transaction. Get new staff. Get more like the other guy. ZERO Customer service. This location is the most convenient grocery store in my area so I don't have much of a choice. EVERY time I go to redeem cans or CoinStar it takes about 15 minutes or more before someone comes to the Customer service desk. I'll see employees noticing me and doing NOTHING. They could at least call over the radio that someone is waiting at Guest Services. I've even called the store while standing at the Customer Service desk and nobody cared. read more

Take a few steps away, one older gentleman proceeds to say "there are foreigners everywhere." Informing the manager provided no action. I visited this store today to buy some groceries, my first stop was the bathroom where I absent-mindedly left my phone, I noticed this mistake about 20 minutes later; when I returned to the bathroom to retrieve it, it was gone and I went into panic mode, eventually it was located by a member of staff but in the interim period between losing it and getting it back several members of staff couldn't have been more helpful, kind and compassionate, their efforts to assist me went over and above standard customer service expectations and I am extremely grateful to them and the store: if management happen to read this I would like it to be known that I would happily point out the specific members of staff who showed such professionalism so you can thank them too as they represented your store so exceptionally and they are a credit to you. AS USUAL.... just this week alone. 1) bags of Macintosh apples. 2) Crouse and Blackwell cocktail sauce. 3) green bananas. 4) cranberry juices. 5) eggs. 6) strawberries (fresh). 7) Jessica's breads. 8) Clementines. 9) green grapes. 10) red grapes. 11) cucumbers. 12) tiny shrimp in cans..... and so on and so on. Stop & Shop has gotten out of control on their pricing. I got home to compare several items to other stores. They were 30% higher than a few stores on Pistachios and 20% higher on Irish butter just to name a couple of items. Their milk and eggs prices are also the highest I saw. I've never been wild about this Stop & Shop, and only go there once in a while for convenience. Yesterday was one of those days. I ran in to get a couple of things. We are having a Covid surge, and have a mask advisory - meaning that masks are highly recommended, even for people who are vaccinated. I personally know 8 people who came down with breakthrough cases of Covid in the last week. Neither of the two people helping shoppers at the self checkout registers wore masks. They were leaning over, talking to people and breathing on them - with NO MASK. In other supermarkets and retail establishments the entire staff masks up, both to set an example and to protect themselves and their customers. They sold me a piece of meat that was 25.99/lb and stunk like ham that had been in the fridge to long. Disgusting. I went in last Saturday to get a marble cake with chocolate frosting. This was about 8:20 pm. All they had was marble with white frosting. While thinking about what to do, a cute woman named Laurie asked if we could give her 20 minutes to make it for us. I came in looking for one item, Devil Dogs made by Drakes. Why? Because when I came to the Boston area to visit my grandmother as a kid, she had them waiting in the house for me to snack on during my visit. Now some 25 years later and I pick them up for nostalgic reasons and bring a box home to my kids on the West Coast. How was the rest of the store as I wondered looking for D-Dogs? Fine. Clean. Had a horrific experience with the cashier to the point that I had to report her (MEENA) to the store manager JIM. I could not even Phaethon how traumatic and crazy this women was she seriously has mental issues or is bi-polar and I can not believe how they would put her as a cashier! Honestly they need to tuck her away in the back and not have her working with customers at all!!! I don't like to give bad reviews but I wish I would have recorded her actions towards me and everyone would be shocked upon viewing. I hope that she gets some type of help mentally. I usually shop at SHAWS but this store has better prices but they certainly can use some more training on customer service. People should be happy they have a job. I like the Stop & Shop usually but I really don't like going through the quick scan lines( Scan your own groceries). Unfortunately they don't want to have cashiers because they want people to use the time-saving and less costly scan your own groceries feature. Well I was there Monday late afternoon and this location didn't have people helping out with the registers that I could see and my register was going off as I tried to weigh some produce unsuccessfully ..the person in the next aisle was having the same problem and her light was blinking also. I asked one of the baggers ( brunette female teen)in the next line as we were standing there for at least 2 minutes and no one came over. And she rudely said in a minute I already called someone. Then a curly blond haired young man came over and very rudely and briskly put my food through and said I wasn't doing it right. I told him I thought he was being very rude and he ignored my comment. He had to come back to my register at least five times for The same issues with scanning My groceries. I tried to just give up and go to another register and he said I could not I had to finish!I said can't we just cancel this and I can go through a line with a person? He said no..I will never ever go back there Again.I looked around no management on site no adult over the age of 20 that I could see. This kid had no shame about his cocky rude attitude. Pardon my expression, but FUCK, I hate this place. Unfortunately it's the only goddamn supermarket convenient for me to go food shopping since I don't have a car, and it SUCKS. The store itself is very nice looking and is always clean and organized, but the staff, with the exception of few, are often VERY RUDE. They should keep their goddamn prejudicial and bigoted comments to themselves. I'm there to go food shopping, not be subject to verbal abuse by rude staff and I'm fucking sick of it. It's no wonder that this store is the ONE single place that always causes me to suffer anxiety attacks. Not once ever have I ever seen more than 1 or 2 registers open, even when there's long lines, and if you're ever here shopping, avoid the cashier who has the bagger with down syndrome, because you'll have heavy cans on top of your bread or eggs. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice kid and works hard, just tends to make mistakes, often. Having experienced this issue several times, I now just avoid that line. I'm sick and fucking tired of the meat department's bait and switch bullshit too. Where one sees signage for meats on sale, one would expect to find that particular item, but NO, it's always something else that's not on sale and often never the item on sale, and it just pisses me off. They tend to often be out of stock of most items I buy all the time, and it annoys the hell out of me, because I hate having to go back there later, only to find out they still don't have it. I do like the florist and produce sections though. Nice flowers, plants, etc and the produce is always a nice selection and fresh. If only I had a car, or a ride to go elsewhere, I would never set foot in this place... OH, and before I finish, they should change their name to Stop & Get Wallet Raped, because their prices are freaking astronomically higher than anywhere else around. I've been going to this S&S for years, and it actually never disappoints. Now, you might wonder how a neighborhood grocery store -- especially one that's part of a national chain -- could disappoint, but I assure you, it's possible. I might even go so far as to say probable, depending on your city or grocery store of choice. The prices are a tad higher than it's basket-esque competitor, but worth it for me. I have only had an issue with sweet potatoes and only twice. Everything else has been great. I've purchased frozen and refrigerated shrimp, filet mignon, dairy, a million types of cheese, lots of produce, chicken, turkey, you name it. Never gotten a bad, sour, expired, or nasty thing. Stock is typically good. Help is so-so, but it's also an entry-level position for the most part. You never, and I mean NEVER have to deal with the absolute MADNESS that accompanies the aforementioned competition (ever try to go in there on a Sunday? not unarmed, I hope...). They have nothing but standard carriages. When I asked where the larger carriages for more than one child were, customer service told me they have been broken for months. I asked what people do with they have more than one child and she said "I don't know". I guess you don't shop. We grabbed a few things and left. Wow I can't believe no one has reviewed this Stop n Shop. Well I'm glad to say this place is pretty decked out. I've been to many Stop n Shops across Massachusetts and this one is one of the best. They have a large selection of organic produce as well as vegetarian and vegan options. Just a few months ago they created a very large natural foods section complete with its own freezer. You can find frozen gluten-free breads as well as frozen fruit, and organic frozen dinners. They have large sections devoted to international foods such as mexican, chinese, thai, and italian. SUGGESTIONS: 1. I would suggest they put their tofu/meat and cheese substitutes in the natural foods section and not scrambled across the store. Right now to find tofu you need to go to the section with cut fruit. Cold vegan cream cheese, yogurt, and milk is all the way across the grocery store in the dairy department. Most people who choose dairy-free substitutes will probably be buying products in the natural section anyways, so take lactose free products out of the dairy section. We aren't buying any dairy products anytime soon. 2. My second suggestion is that they need to get some Daiya cheese. Why aren't you guys selling this stuff already? There are so many vegans in Beverly and Salem, you are missing out on some serious potential customers by not selling Daiya vegan cheese. 3. Organic Cliff Bars, Luna Bars, and Lara Bars should not be in the vitamin section. Those bars should be in the natural foods section along with those over advertised "Think thin" bars. All those bars contain 70%- 100% organic ingredients. They aren't like those other GMO meal replacement bars that are just glorified candy bars. I never find myself in the toiletries/vitamin section for anything besides those bars. Do us fit people a favor and place them where we travel to most often....the produce/natural foods section of the grocery store. read more

This is the most poorly run store I've ever been in. Only 2 checkout lanes open on the weekend, and the self check-out always, always requires manager assistance. Such a big store with a meager selection --I think of this more as a quickie mart than a full grocery store. The produce section, for example, barely covers the basics, and if you want something beyond packaged salad, you often have to go to the frozen foods section (frozen asparagus, yum). Compare that to Market Basket, where the produce selection comes damn close to what even what Whole Foods carries, and you have to wonder if Stop & Shop doesn't see the demand for variety, or doesn't see the need. read more

Just moved to the area and this has become my grocery store as it is the closest to where I live. The store is always clean and well stocked. The have a great selection of everything and I can always find whatever I'm looking for... that said... My only complain is that the organization of the store doesn't make a whole lot of sense so I find my self circling the store many times before I've gotten every thing on my list. read more

It's always clean and well maintained and the staff are always helpful. One manager in particular, Allison, is always so friendly and eager to help! I had worked in this store for four mouths when I was going to collage at Montserrat in 2003. I came in on time, treated the customers like I would want to be when I I am a customer and did my job and still was treated like crap by some of my co-workers there. I left when I started my senior year at collage and if I can help it I'll never work at a grocery store again or at least not at any Stop & Shop anyway. Minimum wage, no benefits unless your a department head, supervisor or manager then you might make a decent living. No thank you I'll pass. Thankfully none of the stock clerks I had to work with are there any more which is good because I still shop there from time to time. Some of their staff are OK, some just need to be better trained. Theirs one guy that need to be plate out fired. Price wise they are on the pricey side but compare to Shaw's not as bad. Market Basket probably is the lowest price grocery store franchises around. Selection is typical, their produce isn't to bad but can be a hit or miss sometimes all-in-all three stars. read more

I can't delay this any longer. This place is the worst run and unhealthy store I know of. In 5 years I have taken 15 different items back that were rotted . Chicken , Lamb, Milk. The Lamb was 5 different times and when the corp office got involved the told me they would get back to me. Ya right. The butcher was more concerned than the mgr. the Milk was so bad that the clerk had me take it outside. The chicken was the last straw. It was organic and it was clearly gone bad. The Clark told me that they had a couple issues with that brand in both chicken and beef. Then don't sell it!!!!!! Are you trying to kill someone?! This is food for humans! Try having Milk in the case. You run out every time I go in. It's not like I can't go to one of four stores just in Beverly. The self checkout machines are constantly stopping and needing to be reset. The one clerk has to run to all scanners and this always causes delays. What's the point of self checkout if it takes longer than a regular line? The Bakery doesn't even bake there. A fresh pie would be nice. You have thousands of customers at the Cummings Ctr, I would think you should care. Try looking at the faces of people in line. It says it all. read more

Stop and Shop, The WORST grocery store in Beverly!! The staff is extremely RUDE!! I went in to get balloons for my son's first birthday. I was not aware that I had to order them ahead of time. As I stood there with my 1 year old son, the florist Helen was extremely rude and unwilling to help me, telling me I should have ordered them ahead of time and that she couldn't help me. I asked if maybe I could just get one or two..i mean how long does it take to blow up 2 balloons? She insisted she couldn't help me and turned her back on me. I went to the customer service desk and when I told the girl that I wanted to complain she just shrugged her shoulders and said she wasn't a manager. I left very upset. I ended up driving over to Shaws where the florist Amy was pleasant and helpful and said of course she could help me out. I will NEVER EVER set foot in that Stop and Shop again!!!
