On my first visit to Vancouver, I treated myself to a spa treatment. The staff at the front desk couldn't have been nicer and even stayed 30 min after closing to accommodate my schedule. I had a exfoliating body scrub and hour massage with William. It was possibly the best massage I have had- cross between massage and muscle adjustment treatment. Having a deep history of back and knee issues, it was a miracle when my back felt stronger after the massage. I even learned some exercises that will help me on the future. I can't recommend this spa and William enough! read more

A girlfriend and I were staying at The Westin and each booked a massage in the early evening. I booked the 1 hour deep tissue. From the moment my therapist came to greet me, my perception was that she didn't want to be there. Unfriendly & uninterested if I had specific areas that needed focus. 10 minutes into the massage, she asked if I wanted music on. Yes, of course I do! Isn't that a standard in the spa industry? Not once during the massage did she ask if the pressure was okay. She clearly did not want to be there and it reflected in the lack of experience I received. I'm not one to complain so I said nothing, but it really stinks spending money AND LEAVING A 15% TIP for something that was awful. I'll revisit this hotel but not this spa. Hopefully they can figure out what needs addressed and improve their overall satisfaction. read more

After more than a few months of long-terms stays at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Vancouver, my lovely boyfriend had racked up enough points to send me and my nagging back problems to the Vida Wellness Spa, located in the hotel. This was my first visit, but not my last and certainly not the most memorable of the two...in the best way possible of course. I arrived the recommended 15 minutes early and was escorted by a pleasant staff member to the soft-lit, spacious change rooms. Vida spa users are also allowed use of the pool, gym and steam rooms, all located on the same level. Delicious smelling amenities, hair care, lotions and the like were all provided, as well as luxurious white robes and slippers to throw on with abandon before heading to your treatment. While filling out the obligatory health form, I sipped on complimentary Ayurvedic tea and contemplated gaining more knowledge in the 5000 year old holistic health tradition of India, known as Ayurveda, the foundation behind Vida's techniques and treatments. Now I won't get into the details of the treatment this time around, as mentioned, this was my first visit. I had a 1 hour massage that was truly heavenly and without much squirming as my back was in better shape than usual. I vowed to return to the spa with my boyfriend who had never received a massage by a professional. The second time around was our 1st year anniversary and cause for celebration and relaxation, a perfect opportunity for a couples massage at Vida. The service was again, impeccable, warm and welcoming. My boyfriend and I were situated in the same large room, massage tables apart just enough that we couldn't disturb each other's experience. I was going to be massaged by a male and my boyfriend, a female; this can be adjusted to your comfort level by calling ahead. The room was dim and smelt wonderful, of flowers and herbs and total bliss! This feeling lasted until the massage began, at the base of my neck which was apparently, the origin of the pain in my back. My masseuse asked me quietly if I had ever experienced migraines, I was shocked as I had, just recently been victim to these strange and debilitating headaches for the first time in my life. His perceptiveness continued as he worked his way down, the pain becoming so severe in my lower back that he decided to stay in that area for the duration of the massage. I glanced over to see my boyfriend catatonic and lazily unaware of what was happening on the other side of the room. By this time I am being contorted and massaged to the point where my eyes are watering and the agony is so apparent that I almost begin to laugh at how absurdly hilarious this is. I am hoping that my masseuse will tell me that "I am not the only one...etc etc". Instead, he tells me that he is incredibly surprised that someone so young could have such back problems and not even know it. Great. Although it may have sounded like a torture chamber in there, my masseuse and his vast knowledge proved to be miraculous for my encumbered back. He provided a page of stretches and exercises that I could do to improve my mobility and strength, and ideas on how to become more aware of my body so as to avoid having to endure another minute of pain. It was a blessing in disguise and one I will not soon forget. The kindness and thought paid to me was more than I had experienced at other spas and this attention to detail (never mind the beautiful spa in itself) will keep me coming back again and again. Oh and my boyfriend did actually fall asleep while having his massage done, if that isn't testament enough to Vida's genius. read more

I had the most delightful experience at Vida Wellness Spa in the Sutton Place Hotel. A friend of mine had given me a gift certificate for a massage and she couldn't of chosen a better present. I simply love to be pampered and this is one of the best places to do it. The Vida Wellness Salon is a gorgeous spa with a calming and organically inspired interior. The staff are friendly and serene and the lighting is dim. This is simply the perfect place to relax in. At the Vida Wellness Spa they focus on your Ayurvedic body type. From this they determine what products they should use during your treatment. I had a massage and to this day it was the best massage I've ever had. I'd highly recommend this salon for any treatment on the menu. read more

To help get my body get over the winter blues, I spontaneously decided to treat myself to a massage before the year came to an end. Since my decision was pretty short notice for my preferred spa, I quickly looked for alternatives. RMT's are usually busy throughout the year, but I guess they are especially busy during the winter holidays. Thanks to their presence on Twitter, I realized they had multiple locations throughout downtown Vancouver. I received great service over the phone, and I was able to sneak in an appointment 2 days later. I'm not sure about their other locations, but the one in Sutton Place Hotel seemed like I had to walk through a maze to get to. It's also adjacent to their fitness centre and steam room that hotel guests can use during their stay. Once greeted by the spa host, I was given a predetermined code to a locker that contained a robe and slippers for me to change into. Even though the locker didn't have my name on it, I still felt special that the locker was already prepared for me before I got there. Since it was my first time at this spa, I needed to fill out the necessary paperwork before handing my body over to the RMT. I was seated in the quiet area where they served me lemon water. I didn't have to wait a long time before the RMT came out to greet me and guide me to one of their 7 treatment rooms. Luckily, our conversation was simple and short, and she got to work. She was nice in asking me how much pressure I am used to in my previous massages. Since I've experienced deep tissue massages in the past, I told her I'm pretty tolerant. So for 45 mins, she worked my shoulders, back, and calves, just like I asked her. Throughout the massage, I was kept nice and toasty with a heating pad. Some rooms just aren't warm enough to be able to relax in. It's too bad I couldn't get at least an hour, but 45 mins was better than no hands working out the knots. Afterwards, I was escorted out back into the quiet area where she taught me a good stretch to limit the tightness around my shoulders. I was left to enjoy some more lemon water, and some light snacks before heading back into the change rooms and pay. Other than the last part where you get small treats, the spa experience is like any other. The prices are quite high ($115 for 45mins), so I don't know if I'll go back. Well, if I do I'll at least book an hour to get more value. read more

Came in for a couples RMT massage and a facial for myself. The changerooms were kind of like a public pool and somewhat flooded with water, not clean and relaxing. I'd suggest not trying to head to the pool and patio to wait for your treatments - there's a ping pong table and a kind of dated uninviting pool area - not spa-like. We headed back into the lounge which was much better. Comfortable seating, tea and water and small snacks. Our massages were great - Christine did a fabulous job and the rooms and beds were big and comfortable. After my massage, I asked where I should wait for my facial and they unfortunately said they didn't have me in for a facial that day. The booking error was a big letdown. Overall, a fine experience but not the kind of place you'd want to spend any more time than for one treatment! read more

I love going to this spa for massages and facials. This spa is not only the cleanest but the staff are wonderful and caring. Best facials I've ever had and I've had in Asia and Mexico at high end hotel spas and for the price it's very comparable to other spas in downtown Vancouver. They use the best products and I've never had an issue with a reaction but everyone skin is different.You can't compare with the states where their dollar is stronger. The massages and steam room is great too. And I'm not alone all my guests come back with great reviews as well. read more

I stay at the Sutton Place quite a lot for work. All I have to say: Ashley and Mirka are miracle workers for massages. Incredible hands which will work out the hardest knots. The spa is super chill, and I also had a facial here once which was very good. Kudos to Vida for employing such excellent, highly trained staff. read more

With respect, your use of the word "spotless" implies that my complaint was that your spa was not spotless when, in fact, it was unhygienic by reasonable industry standards. While I appreciate that "things happen" during the regular course of business, your apology seems tempered on several accounts to which I wish to respond. First, I would have noticed if the massage practitioner had washed her hands because it is highly unusual practice for massage practitioners to begin with one's feet, despite you describing it as occurring "often". It is for this reason that qualified practitioners handle a client's feet last. Second, I have few problems (or ability) spending money on quality service. I do have an issue spending money on substandard service as does I expect everybody including yourself. At any rate, I thank you for the apology and am glad to hear that your Westin location has focused on providing higher standards of hygiene. ___________________ On a friend's recommendation, I booked a massage at Vida and showed up early to use the steam facilities as suggested. The change room actually shares with the gym members and when I walked in, the place was disgusting: used towels thrown everywhere and the floor soaking wet. I put on my robe, advised the staff of the change room "conditions", and went to relax in the steam room. The steam room happens to be the same one that is used by the pool users. So kids were running around screaming and since the steam room was co-ed, and I being in a robe, I hastily retreated to the waiting room for my massage. By this time, I was not relaxed at all and was hoping for a good massage. The massage was decent enough, except for one thing - the masseuse worked on my feet and then moved up to my arms and face! This is an automatic failure in any credible registered massage therapy (RMT) program for obvious hygienic reasons. I understand that the masseuse was not an RMT, but you'd think that a hotel-based spa such as Vida would insist upon the highest standards of hygiene as a policy. So I left Vida feeling aggravated that I had just spent $200 on a miserable experience and then the coup de grace: I realized afterwards that there was an ongoing deal where clients get 90 minutes for the price of 60. Nobody at Vida mentioned this. I called up the manager and eventually received the credit but found the whole process borderline deceitful. It wasn't until I asked the manager how she would feel about a similar experience that she conceded the credit. I have been to Century Spa and will never go back to Vida. Century has an independent change room, independent steam room, and the entire experience is not only far more relaxing, it's far cheaper! read more

I have received nothing but horrible service from Vida spa. I had the one hour deep tissue massage and the girl was just horrible. I've received many massages before and this was not worth it at all . The girl was very unprofessional and unwelcoming . I also lost a very special necklace in the same room I was getting the massage that day. They were not helpful at all and it seemed like they did not care about this issue and never followed up with me. read more

I was in Vancouver a few weeks ago. My first trip and WOW I loved it. This spa is beacutiful and staff seems friendly. The massage was good. I do like a lot of engagment, but the therapist should also understand to work slowly into the tissue is a it easier to receive, as well as more effective work with the body (both therapist and client) The price was average as far as spas go (which is often on the high side). Had I realized all of the other options in the area, I may have looked around. That being said the convience was ideal, and had I a chance to do over, I still would visit this spa. 3.5stars read more

I couldn't find ur whistler branch page that's why I comment on this page. I was trying to use your spa in fairmont hotel which is in whistler on 16. Oct. 2014. I reserved that hotel coz they got u! vida spa. As soon as I arrived at hotel, I got a phone call for a reservation, but one of ur staff who was answering the phone was really rude n make me angry. I got a brochure from the lobby, and there was several types of massage. My husband n I choose one each tried to reserve, but she sighed every single times when she talked. Also they don't have like that massage. I was really displeased, so I just canceled our reservation. It doesn't matter whether you have that massage or not. I'm just angry about her way to treat the customer. She seems like "I don't care u guys." It's hard to explain her attitude with just writing. Do u guys want to take a massage from who doesn't care about u even a phone call. There is not many reasons going hotel except the spa which is famous for ski resort during off-season. Me neither! If you are looking for the best neck rub of your life you have to go see Villiam at the vida spa at Yyoga. My work is really hard on my neck and back and I often wake up completely unable to turn my head. After waking up like this, I went and had my first session with Villiam. I was finally able to have some relief, still sore but it didn't get worse and usually it gets worse before it gets better. I went back for a recommended second treatment and wow, it feels better then before I had any pain. He is very strong and this was by no means a relaxing massage (which I'm sure would be great as well) but a deep tissue pain treatment. If you have pain you have to go see him. The price was really fair as well $130 for an hour plus $15 gratuity is worth every penny. read more

One of the best spa's in the city with the most hospitable staff and incredible guest services. I would highly recommend. My personal experience was one which could have gone a very different direction, but given their care and expertise they turned it around completely. I was scheduled for an appointment over the busy holiday season. Sadly, there was a miscommunication and the dates that were confirmed didn't sync up. Needless to say, they wen't above and beyond to rectify the situation and I left feeling more revived and well cared for than I even anticipated. I had a facial at the Sutton Place location on Saturday March 11th, 2017 and I have to say that the experience was beyond amazing and more than I could have hoped for. I received the 90min hydration facial, and it's true, once you have a 90min treatment you will NEVER go back to a 60min service. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing and the front desk staff of the spa are so friendly and warm. It is a nice change going into the tranquil feel of the spa coming from the busy atmosphere outside and within the hotel. I have seen some reviews where clients have complaints about sharing the changing rooms with hotel and pool guests, but I can assure you that it is not that big of a deal. The change rooms have recently undergone an extensive renovation, and they are beautiful. The spa itself has also undergone a renovation, and it is beautiful. I really cannot say enough nice things about my experience, and highly recommend Vida Spas. read more

I booked a facial at vida and the results were less than amazing. As others have said, the locker rooms are joined with the gym and quite unpleasant. As for the actual facial, it was supposed to be an hour long, in reality it lasted about 45 minutes. There was nothing spectacular done to my face at all. I left and my skin felt extremely sticky and coated and not in a nice smooth way. The person who did mine did not put a band around my hair so when it was finished, my hair was coated in product. There wasn't a real mask that was applied. The room was bright. All together the place was not good at all. read more

I treated myself to the $100.00 75 minute pedicure with a nourishing mask and was so disappointed. The polish on every toe bubbled so she didn't let the polish coats dry, there was polish left on my skin, the nourishing mask was just some sort of moisturizer along with a lack luster message. Paying $100 to have my feet soaking in a rubbermaid dish pan lined with a white garbage bag was a total turnoff. This was not a "luxurious" experience at the Sutton Place location. read more

Vida Spa at The Sutton has just undergone a much-needed facelift -- at least the change rooms have. Looks like they totally gutted the space. New showers, new tile, new steam room (in mens), new sinks/toilets. It's all quite nice. Where they missed the boat, however, is in the small details. Looks like someone went to Ikea or Bed Bath and Beyond to buy shelves for fresh towels, baskets for hair dryers and to drop used towels into, tissue boxes, etc. Why bother to put so much money into a remodel, if you're going to finish it off with cheap accessories? read more

I was a guest at the Sutton Place Hotel Dec 8 & 9, 2015. I booked a manicure and pedicure at the Vida Spa during my stay. The spa is very nicely decorated, staff is friendly, nice steam room, and pool area. However, the quality of my service was very poor. During the manicure I was seated at a high table, on a bar stool with no back...very uncomfortable! Also, they don't have pedi thrones, just a long raised bench seat with cushions. The entire service was just a rush...the staffer finished my services 15 mins early, never a good sign! There was no exfoliation, almost no nail shaping (I actually had to ask her to please re-file the sharp jagged edges she had left on my finger nails), and the nail polish was poorly applied and no cleanup of polish done around the edges. As well, the lotion applied was extremely drying...my fingers had dry skin and hang nails 20 mins after leaving the spa. These services totalled $123.00 plus tip. I would not recommend the services of this spa. read more

There were no dedicated chairs or basins for the expensive pedicure (over $100) and I had to sit on a spa bed with a tiny basin of water at my feet. ok, so i actually give this spa 3.5 stars... i really like the spa and the services... I enjoyed the full couples package that comes with a body scrub, back massage and a rejuvenation soak. the service was good, i loved the atmosphere... nothing much to complain about that. the soak especially was delightful... my complaint is about how the spa is connected to the gym and the pool. i really hated that. it just... totally takes it away from that luxurious feeling... a spa facility should be meant only for the spa guests... i really really hated the fact anyone using the pool and the gym can go in and out as they please. even worse, the steam room was on the pool/gym side so i didnt even bother going. I mean, i like sitting in the steam room wearing nothing but a towel and i did not feel comfortable passing by the pool area wher ther are old men and kids. even the showes and the lockerroom are shared with pool/gym users... what were they thinking??? totally not luxurious at all. so in conclusion.. service/atmosphere good, structure, horrible. read more
