I didn't even get through 1 concern before she was out the door. She did not hear me out at all and didn't care to. And yesterday I received a $700 bill because they decided that they did not want to use my insurance, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD IT. I'm not sure if this was an attempt at fraud, but they had it and didn't use it. I am definitely trying to get information to follow up with the medical board. BEWARE if you go here and make sure to check EVERYTHING and follow up with your insurance. They haven't even called me to follow up on my test results. Terrible experience and I expect BETTER for a female OBGYN. If you wanted to be treated like a number, this is the place for you. Not to mention I cannot even call the office directly to talk about these issues. You should honestly be ashamed. OBGYN appointments are very vulnerable and can be scary for women - you should consider having more patience and actually hearing your patients out and not cutting them off when they try to talk to you about concerns. I was referred to him by the ER doctor at Mercy Hospital, who had nothing but kudos to say about him. Because of this, I went to a consultation in early July 2024 and was examined by Dr. Gottenger and agreed that I needed implant extant surgery. He also ordered his staff to refer me to pathology for labs and for a mammogram. I am still waiting for his office to refer me for those tests, almost 90 days later. Nonetheless, within a week of my consult my insurance approved the procedures to be performed by the Dr. Gottenger. However, It is now October and I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM, HIS OFFICE OR STAFF EVER AGAIN. I am in extreme pain and have limited mobility. I am also in the process of searching for a caring and conscientious medical establishment that follows up with patients so that I can get the medical care I urgently need. Further, one of the things I found most disconcerting with Dr. Gottenger is that he also has horrible bedside manners and didn't treat me with compassion and care. I felt dismissed by his demeanor towards me. If you have insurance paying for the procedure and not cash, that is the type of treatment to expect from this office's culture. I felt uneasy and undignified when I left his office that day, He also does not hold back by admonishing staff if they err in any detail, and most poignantly he does it in front of patients. He either, does not care how he treats his staff or, depending on the patient he is examining, does not respect the patient either by belittling a human, and or both of the above. Sure, he has great generic reviews, but pay attention to the lower ranked ones. They are very precise and serious. You will also see that they do not respond to any of the reviews, especially the negative ones. I would not recommend this practitioner.
