Unfortunately, I transferred care due to their strict "No Doula" and "No Hypnobirthing" policy. When I asked my doctor about it, she said "dont waste your money" and "many of the L&D nurses at south miami are doulas" (not true). Per ACOG (American College of Obstetritian & Gynecology) "Evidence suggests that, in addition to regular nursing care, continuous one-to-one emotional support provided by support personnel, such as a doula, is associated with improved outcomes for women in labor". Hypnobirthing is also a proven pain management technique. So why do they have this policy? My guess is liability purposes. ("https://www.acog.org/clinical/clinical-guidance/committee-opinion/articles/2019/02/approaches-to-limit-intervention-during-labor-and-birth) This "no doula" policy, coupled with the fact that South Miami has an astronomically high c-section rate, were all red flags for me. I absolutely do not want a C-Section. So if you're preggers and looking to avoid the "Cascade of interventions" that come with labor, I would proceed with caution. Not to say it's not possible, but there are already policies at South Miami OBGYN that protect the medical group while also stripping the mother of options for their birth experience. Worth noting that when I transferred care to a different doctor I got a call from this office to the tune of "just to let you know, if it doesnt work out with the new doctor you can't come back to us for care". 5 star group for regular OB Care 3-4 Stars for pregnancy support

This is not simply a matter of the valet being "distant" or having a bad attitude. There is a very noticeable difference in the way I am treated depending on the vehicle I arrive in.When I come by myself in my regular car, the valet has told me, "You have to park your car yourself." On another occasion, when the valet area was very busy and there were many cars, he told me, "I'm going to do you a favor and park it for you today because we are full." A valet service is a paid service. Parking my car is not a "favor" being done for me.What makes this situation even more obvious is what happens when I arrive with my husband in his newer sports car. Even when there are empty spaces available, we are suddenly told that only the valet attendants are allowed to park that particular car. The attitude and willingness to provide the service completely change. It is very hard not to notice that the difference seems to be based on the fact that the car is newer, modern, and a sports car.I have also had an upsetting experience involving my mother, who was not treated with the basic courtesy and respect that any customer should receive. This is especially disappointing at a medical facility, where patients and their family members should be treated with patience and professionalism.I want to be very clear: I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for the service I am paying for. If valet parking is offered and customers are paying for it, customers should not be made to feel as though parking their vehicle is a favor. I was referred to him by the ER doctor at Mercy Hospital, who had nothing but kudos to say about him. Because of this, I went to a consultation in early July 2024 and was examined by Dr. Gottenger and agreed that I needed implant extant surgery. He also ordered his staff to refer me to pathology for labs and for a mammogram. I am still waiting for his office to refer me for those tests, almost 90 days later. Nonetheless, within a week of my consult my insurance approved the procedures to be performed by the Dr. Gottenger. However, It is now October and I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM, HIS OFFICE OR STAFF EVER AGAIN. I am in extreme pain and have limited mobility. I am also in the process of searching for a caring and conscientious medical establishment that follows up with patients so that I can get the medical care I urgently need. Further, one of the things I found most disconcerting with Dr. Gottenger is that he also has horrible bedside manners and didn't treat me with compassion and care. I felt dismissed by his demeanor towards me. If you have insurance paying for the procedure and not cash, that is the type of treatment to expect from this office's culture. I felt uneasy and undignified when I left his office that day, He also does not hold back by admonishing staff if they err in any detail, and most poignantly he does it in front of patients. He either, does not care how he treats his staff or, depending on the patient he is examining, does not respect the patient either by belittling a human, and or both of the above. Sure, he has great generic reviews, but pay attention to the lower ranked ones. They are very precise and serious.
