Hey I went to eat at Vida Mariscos yesterday off of 249. We started out with their classic ceviche, which is the best ceviche that I have found in the entire north Houston area! I absolutely love crawfish! Theirs is a little bit different from what I am used to, the seasoning isn't really a Cajun seasoning. They also had this garlic stuff on the outside(the Asian way some say). But the seasoning tasted great, the crawfish were juicy, only complaint is I found a few that had tough tails. I'm guessing that is from over cooking? But that was only about 5 out of the 5 pounds that we ate. So all in all their crawfish were delicious! I highly recommend you go try it before the season is over! My servers name was Angela, and she did an amazing job! Never had an empty beer, and never ran out of clean napkins! read more

I just got food poisoning from this place being that it's the only thing I've eaten the whole day and both me and my husband have terrible stomach aches. Asked dude to change the channel because it was on some educational shit for kids and I'm not a kid. He changed it. They're always showing all the good soccer games. I am conflicted about writing a post as this place is already getting packed and the wait is just going to get longer when the word gets out. If you have ever eaten seafood in any of the amazing water front restaurants in Guaymas, La Paz or Puerto Vallarta you are going to be happy. First clue no chips and salsa. In Mexico they don't chomp a bag of tortilla chips before they eat a fine meal. Instead awesome seafood coctels. We had the shrimp which comes with a side of sauce, limes a few wedges of perfect fresh avocado garnishing it. My wife had the Seven Seas Seafood Caldo an amazing stew of fish, shrimp, scallops, crab, calamari steaks, mussels and octopus. Rich dark red broth that is spicey but light enough to not over power the seafood. I had the Huachinango Zarandeado a whole marinated red snapper butterflied and grilled. Perfect it is as good as the one I has at Hugo's down town. While they do have hand made tortillas these particular dishes were served with crusty home made French bread botillos which go perfect for soaking up the delicious soup. The full bar is great with several Mexican beers on draft and great margaritas in large frozen goblets. They even have dirty martinis on the bar menu! The service was very attentive and friendly. We went there right in time for lunch around noon. Business was slow, but customer service was great. The steak and stuffed shrimp was amazing. I definitely recommend trying one of the margaritas. I'm honestly shocked Vida Mariscos is not a 5-star restaurant. This is HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE restaurant. I've been traveling here from GEORGIA for 13 years and always have to eat here when I come. Thankfully, I now live in the area and can enjoy their food regularly. Last time I came was 2 wks ago (I was out of town last wk) and they decided to switch the glasses to some TINY glasses and Keep the same price. The last glasses were 2xs as big. I think this restaurant is great for small groups, but yesterday we experienced a very slow service due to them being unable to handle our group of 7. Yes, 7! It took them about 10 minutes to seat us, when there were plenty of available tables. To get the food order it took about 30 minutes. We were not expecting to wait so long, but we noticed our waitress was busy with her 2 tops or 4 tops. My fiance was very hungry and a bit frustrated - as was I, but I was too busy enjoying my watermelon margarita. The food was decent. I had a "paella" type dish, that was good - just needed a little bit extra salt and perhaps avocado on the side, with cilantro & onion. I think it should definitely be offered with this dish, but by no means was it not flavorful. I did enjoy it, but I was expecting a lot more for the price: $22.99 What threw me off was the fact that they give you bread and butter instead of chips and salsa. Typically at mexican restaurants you are given chips and salsa. Anyways, the margarita was my favorite, of course. It had the perfect amount of tequila, pieces of watermelon and garnished with a watermelon wedge. We will definitely be back since my father in law is a HUGE seafood and caldo fan. My friends and i went to celebrate a birthday and our waitress was rude af. We normally get great service from Maria , but Angela was RUDE and unprofessional. I requested to change servers , then that waitress was talking mess and taunting me everytime she walked by our table and staring at me from the kitchen. She's an older waitress and when we asked her name , she gave us a fake one. We love going to Vida Mariscos and we always have a great time. I actually love love love this place BUT I have tried to come several times on the weekend to listen to live music. This time I called ahead to make sure we arrive to hear them. Seems like this band is a bunch of divas who spend time "warming up" or "taking a break" even before they start the show.. Really? Several tables around us left "decepcionadas". My wife and I stopped there for the first time. She had a shrimp cocktail and I had the shrimp posole. The shrimp cocktail was ok, average sauce with a bit too much onion. The shrimp posole (of which I had never had) had good posole flavor but it overpowered the shrimp which I could barely taste. Good parking . Came here on a Friday night like around 8pm . Place was packed and jumping . When you walk in you notice right away how big the place is ! Very spacious. Super delicious bread they serve before your food comes out . I ordered the half size of the two piece fish with 5 regular shrimp . My plate comes with either an option of rice or French fries . I said bring them both to me . The extra charge for the fries where like 2 dollars . No big deal . Sucky thing only about that was that my side fríes did take longer to get to me after my actual plate arrived . I wanted them both at the same time . The Mariachi band was singing songs upon request for some dollars. They had a DJ as well . He was playing the right tunes . TVs left to right , front to back , literally everywhere in the Restaurant. This was our first time to visit Vida Mariscos. We ordered a frozen and a mango margarita. Both were delicious. We also tried the La Charola which consisted of the shrimp cocktail , ceviche and raw oysters. All was delicious. The ceviche was not my favorite only because I'm not loving all the lime juices. We did manage to eat most of it. We would definitely return. Most dinner menu items seemed to be between $15-20.00. The atmosphere was casual. Nothing special and pretty loud conversation .
