As soon as you walk in, you are in the battle of the drums between the Kumasi and the Djembe. So loud I couldn't think . I did ask to turn it down a few times, in the middle of my meal the Chef said I could eat outside. On that note I ordered way too much. The fried chicken was delicious !! Not greasy at all. But huge, sorry today I ordered two thighs that were the size of one large breast. A little condiment of shaved coconut and chive was on the side. Any sides were à la carte. I did try the " Cabbage Salad" that had a nice flavor, but was overdressed and is mostly iceberg lettuce, and rice with surprisingly sticky rice , so it was kind of yummy. The chicken came with one sauce I got the curry. It was divine.. & my friend got the chicken bites and some kind of mayo. I was going to leave a five star review because the food was that good however, on the receipt they charged $.92 for the containers and eating utensils. I'm disheartened because if they offered an alternative like a plate and regular silverware, I could see not adding it into their cost. If I refuse to pay for the containers, how would I eat it on that note the chef was nice enough to me to have me try a couple of items that I didn't have to pay for. Which I greatly appreciated and that is why I'm leaving such a nice review. I do recommend eating here, but take it home. Or call for delivery, they have their own AP. PS great smoothie's !!!

Yes, going on a rant a bit but wanted to emphasize those items there. We always go with spicy tuna and it meets the needs of hunger. If you're into brown rice, they do it right at Island Fin. Many other places, brown rice tends to be dry as the Sahara. But you'll be good here. Dining in during lunch is chill enough. Good seating. Eat by yourself if you like and stare at your phone (although I don't recommend just staring at your phone). Enjoy reality a bit. Just enjoy your poke bowl and be safe... seriously.

I do like their span misubi, its not too saly but I think the spam is like a little thin for the portion of rice. I have tried thier other appetizers like the gyoza, tsunami fries which are good when they're freshly made but perhaps a little dry at other times. Milk teas are okay, I think it's because it's powder flavor tea, its not my favorite. Service: Staff is friendly and quick on getting your order together. Ambiance: It's a much smaller place with perhaps 6 seatings? It's cute inside but I wouldn't hang out for too long. By the time I got to the front of the line & was able to order, they ran out of most things. Originally, I wanted to get the spicy salmon + ahi tuna, however, they had ran out of both. I ended up getting a mix plate with spicy tuna + ahi oka. I wanted to try the Manoa chip dip but that was also out by the time I got to order haha. I liked the spicy tuna but wasn't the biggest fan of the ahi oka, which is raw tuna with coconut cream, lime juice, onion, scallions, ginger, + chilis. I found the rice, kimchi cucumbers, + Mac and cheese to be just all right... wasn't very impressed by the plate overall. I still felt hungry afterwards and ended up going to grab dinner. Mind you, it doesn't take much food to make me feel full & for $21, this wasn't the most satisfying meal in terms of taste + portion size. Fish tasted fresh though at least but I don't think I'll be back. Seating: there's only like 3 tables; two for parties of 4ish and one smaller table for 2.

I almost gave up looking for this place until I saw a fellow yelper's review--which was very helpful. Google reviews sorted by most relevant--the first three reviews from this date has no mentions of it being inside the Protein House. SMH. Aside from the poor lack of direction, best way to get some fried chicken is to order online or delivery according to other review platforms. The online ordering was easy peasy though. Order was on time of scheduled pickup time We ordered a 5 pack of chicken, Mac salad, and cabbage slaw. The chicken pieces were huge. Super crunchy and moist on the inside. Nice and hot when we got it. I really enjoyed the chicken. Wife thought it was a tad too sweet. Mac salad she enjoyed but I thought it was alright. The cabbage slaw was pretty good combining with the chicken to balance out the sweetness. Overall the chicken was the main star and I give it a thumbs up. Just super frustrating to drive out of my way to hunt down this place when it's hidden in the Protein House. Reason for a mediocre 3 star review is the lack of direction to finding this chicken. I would have gave it a 5 since I enjoyed the chicken. Maybe it was posted on other social media platforms--but not everyone is active there. Cheers and good luck chasing this chicken down.

Spent 15 min walking around looking for the place! Grr! She said you have to place your order online only. By creating an online account. Pay over the internet. Cannot order over the phone. Cannot walk in to order. Should have been my first indication but ive only heard of these places. Never been in one yet. But when I called - WHY DIDNT THEY TELL ME THIS!?!!! (YW Yelp!) That said. Takes 30 min for an "asap" order to be ready. Food was probably read on-time- but ya know - I COULDN'T FIND THE PLACE. So by the time it makes the trek home it was warm but at least not cold. Chicken was pretty good. Boneless, basically crispy. Would have been nice if the seasonings / sauce / toppings on the chicken were actually put evenly on all pieces. Top two had most. Ube was interesting with the coconut. I'm told the Mac salad was decent as well. Would prefer a hot side - so I guess I just need rice next time as the only warm side option. All and all an ok fried chicken with nice flavor, juicy chicken and not much fat on the thigh which is good. But hot meals need more hot side options too. Just REALLY wish this freaking place had SOME kind of sign on it ... or that the people working there would automatically tell confused people calling where to FIND them. (Bc id already ordered and paid for the food need to know where to find them!) Not going to be worth the 30 min trip over (happened to have been in the area) for fried chicken but not bad if ure in the area. Maybe it would be better as a sandwich.
